Imp to Demon King: A Journey of Conquest

Chapter 303 A Minimum of Forty Times

Chapter 303  A Minimum of Forty Times

Adam bolted over a frozen mountain peak. Like the rest of Jotunheim, the frosty wind tried to infiltrate his muscles, gnaw at his life force, and feed on his heat. Yet, his crevices pulsed with raw plasma, repelling it as he plunged to the other side.

He landed in a white forest, the snow crunching beneath his bare feet as Mimir's voice echoed from his belt.

"I know you must recover your powers, brother. But being strapped at your belt while you engage in dangerous fights wasn't exactly what I had in mind when we departed."

Adam gripped his god slayer's hilt, shrugging. "You know better than me how deceptive Loki is. We can't meet one of his underlings while weak." Mimir let out a defeated sigh. "I don't advise provoking Hrimgar in particular. He's the last of Ymir's descendants, you know? His strength should be second only to the gods." He let his voice linger, his lips twisting. "Promise me to keep my position in mind when you fight. And I hope your worries about him are unwarranted... even if I share them."

"I'll try." Adam nodded, his eyes narrowing as he picked up familiar growls. But these scratched at his ears as if the owners were several times larger than the beast he knew about.

With a loud buzz, a plasma blade erupted from the god slayer's hilt as the noise of paws upturning snow and ruffling bushes filled the air.

"Be careful. Giant frost wolves surround us," Mimir said, his tone more informative than urgent.

Before his words could fade, immaculate fur and rows of sharp teeth glistened behind them. As the first wolf lunged, three others left the shade of the trees in a tight circle.

Adam snickered as he spun. His blade drew an incandescent downward arc as the stench of the first wolf's maw registered.

The wolf's intended howl was cut short as the plasma tore through its skull. An inferno erupted from the scalding gash, the crackling flames vaporising everything they touched.

As its carcass collapsed, Adam locked on the other three wolves, reading the doubts in their pale blue eyes and scrunched noses.

"Hesitating after ambushing me?" A mocking grin spread on his lips. "I almost miss the never-ending hordes of mindless abyssal spawns."

Mimir rolled his eyes. "Really?"

"Tsk. I said almost."

With a click of his tongue, Adam dashed toward the three remaining enemies.

The stench of burned meat permeated the swirling red mist of vaporised blood, and a layer of gray ashes covered the snowy ground after he obliterated the threats.

He retracted his essence, causing the god slayer to return to a shining hilt before he leaned against a tree. Eager to check on the rewards, he summoned his stat panel and pressed on the notification tab.

[You have defeated 4 tier four level 45 giant wolves. You have gained 2.400 experience points.]

A deep furrow creased his brows. "That's it? I expected... more." "Welcome back to a somewhat normal realm." Mimir chuckled, amused to call Jotunheim normal. "Did you expect to find leader beasts at every corner as you did in the abyss?"

"I guess." Adam scratched his forehead and switched to his status panel. Despite the low experience, he should have levelled up a few times—probably enough to surpass his previous stats if his estimations were correct.

His knuckles whitened, and his veins bulged as almost twice the strength he had once wielded flooded his body. He clenched his jaw, suppressing a power-imbued and delighted roar.

That was just level seven! How much stronger would he become after returning to lvl 91? As the question blossomed in his mind, Mimir smiled softly and delivered the answer. "Forty times at a minimum. And before you ask, you should see your face. Even a kid can read what you're thinking when you smile like that."

"It's just the minimum. My essence can grow endlessly, and I still have an evolution and a tier to improve." His eyes narrowed into fiery slits as he unstrapped Mimir and gazed into his pale gold eyes. "Would it be enough to defeat gods on Odin's level?"

Mimir shook his head. "Hard to say, brother. Odin is powerful, but his real weapon is his mind. The knowledge you inherited by reclaiming his eye from my well is a mere drop compared to the ocean he gained by drinking it." He let a brief silence settle before he delivered his answer. "You might have an edge on him if you evolve again. But against his army of Aesirs and strategies? I doubt you'll win." @@novelbin@@

Adam shrugged. "Who said I don't have my own army? But I see where you come from. Starting with a less united realm might be better." His voice grew icier than the ever-blowing wind as he strapped Mimir's head back. "And I know the perfect place."

Mimir nodded. "If you think about the demon realm, it's worth a shot. A surprise attack on one of the weakest demon kings is all you need to enter the divine rank. I have a better suggestion, though. But first, we find Hrimgar."

Agreeing, Adam unfurled his wings and soared to the sky. Though eager to level up, a much-awaited reunion awaited him, and he'd delay it for nothing in the world.

'I still hope to reach level fifty on the way.'

As he continued his journey with Mimir, Mimi yawned in her comfortable bed.

Her red hair cascaded down her sleepy eyes and fit shoulders as she stretched and opened her interface as usual. However, her eyes widened as she clasped her chest, feeling her heart race and her breath catch in her throat.

The answer she had been waiting for ten years finally arrived.

Without caring for the tears trailing down her cheeks, she leapt out of bed, put on her dress, and bolted out of her room, her voice thundering through her palace.

"Big brother is alive! He's returning!"
