Chapter 45 - Wanwan and Shi Feixuan
Chapter 45: Wanwan and Shi Feixuan
Great Sui Dynasty – A Desolate Mountain Peak
“Wretched nun!” Wanwan sneered, her face alight with mockery. “Wherever I go, you follow like a shadow. What’s the matter? Do you want to join the Yin Gui Sect and become my junior?”
[Wanwan (婠婠, Wānwān) can be translated as “Exquisite Grace” or “Delicate Beauty.”]
Wanwan’s words were laced with derision. At merely eighteen, she had already reached the peak of the Zhixuan Grandmaster realm. Her prodigious talent was the pride of the Yin Gui Sect.@@novelbin@@
[Yin Gui Sect (阴癸派, Yīnguǐ Pài): A faction rooted in the so-called “demonic path,” often vilified for their unorthodox and ruthless methods.]
Having left the sect to explore the Great Sui in search of celestial inheritance and new breakthroughs, Wanwan had unexpectedly encountered her long-time rival, Shi Feixuan.
[Shi Feixuan (师妃暄, Shī Fēixuān) can be interpreted as “Master Feixuan” or “Feixuan the Warm.”]
As the chosen successor of the Cihang Jingzhai, Shi Feixuan was Wanwan’s antithesis in every sense. For generations, the two factions had been sworn enemies, and Wanwan and Shi Feixuan were no exception.
[Cihang Jingzhai (慈航静斋, Cíháng Jìngzhāi): A virtuous, Buddhist-influenced sect dedicated to upholding justice and peace.]
Their initial meeting had quickly escalated into a duel. But despite their best efforts, their abilities were evenly matched, neither able to gain the upper hand.
Wanwan, weary of the stalemate, had tried to shake off her relentless pursuer, but Shi Feixuan had been unyielding.
“For the safety of ordinary citizens,” Shi Feixuan said, her tone serene and measured, “I must stay by your side, Wanwan Shijie (师姐, Senior Sister).”
Wanwan’s lip curled in disdain.
“Spare me the act of your saintly concern! If I didn’t know better, I might believe your Cihang Jingzhai truly cared about the world.”
Shi Feixuan’s composure remained unshaken, her voice calm. “The day will come, Wanwan Shijie, when you will understand that everything we do is for the sake of the people.”
“Buddha-like compassion?” Wanwan sneered. “Your words are laughable.”
Their verbal sparring was abruptly interrupted by a violent tremor beneath their feet.
“What’s happening?!”
The mountain peak quaked violently as if about to collapse. The two combatants, though initially startled, quickly steadied themselves.
Just as they prepared to leap to safety, a colossal black vortex appeared above the peak, emitting an overpowering suction force.
“What is that?!” Wanwan exclaimed, struggling futilely against the pull.
Beside her, Shi Feixuan’s face paled, but she maintained her stoic silence as they were both swallowed by the vortex.
Moments later, a figure emerged atop the now-still mountain. Bai Chen gazed at the sky, a faint smile playing on his lips.
“So much for waiting for them to fight,” he murmured. “I had to step in myself.”
Bai Chen had ventured to the Great Sui seeking candidates to inherit the celestial path. Though he initially hesitated between Wanwan and Shi Feixuan, their encounter presented the perfect opportunity.
He had hoped to let their battle lead to a “fortunate encounter,” but their refusal to engage forced him to act.
With a wave of his hand, Bai Chen conjured a vortex and transported them into a fabricated Immortal Abode.

The Formation of the Immortal Abode
“System,” Bai Chen called out. “Initiate the plan.”
“Deducting 30,000 points of Fate Creation Energy,” the system intoned.
The black vortex expanded rapidly, transforming into a magnificent celestial abode that shimmered with a radiant glow.
To add a final dramatic touch, Bai Chen infused the structure with a powerful aura, causing a seven-coloured beam of light to pierce the heavens.
“That should draw enough attention,” Bai Chen said with satisfaction. “A grand spectacle always helps sell the story.”
As the fabricated Immortal Abode settled in place, Bai Chen chuckled softly.
“No serendipitous encounter this time—just an engineered miracle. Time to see how the world reacts.”
What do you think?
