Chapter 302: Flames that Engulfed the Skies
Lord Emperor Cassius was a masochistic entity who had achieved the peak of the Nightmare Trainer Stage through sheer will alone. He was also someone who had maxed out everything he possibly could without directly increasing his level or realms. He had even become a Demon Lord—a direct rank-up from his Archdemon Rank.
His Demon Dragon Bloodline, VoidWarper Skills, and anything else that could've been advanced had been advanced. You see, during his time in the Challenges and even his most recent Challenge, he had been anything but idle. His innate nature—one developed by the System—would not allow him to laze around.
His killing intent and battle-crazed personality aspects may have been temporarily suppressed to cope, but everything else was as it should be.
That poison—the one hailed as an absolute killer—had no effect on him.
Yet, when Cassius saw the hateful expression his wife made when she assumed he was in the process of dying, he only felt disappointment. Disappointment not in her, but in himself.
He had allowed himself to be a fool for far too long.
SPURT!
And with the squelching sound of blood splattering the opulent walls of their Palace, Cassius returned to his old self. His cold blue eyes apathetically watched crimson-red liquid spray out of the fair and tender neck of the woman he once loved. He let her blood trickle down the hand that slit her neck as he emotionlessly observed every emotion that filtered through her expression.
That pretty face he once adored now appeared so ugly.
Cassius hadn't even waited around to watch Queen Yara's final moments; he calmly walked out of their bedroom and then just as calmly killed everyone in sight. From the maids to the butlers to the nobles stationed outside his Palace, he quelled their life flames with single-hand strokes.
He demolished his own home, then sauntered away with blood dripping down his face and hands.
However, his murder spree didn't end with just that, for Cassius continued with the surrounding area. He mercilessly and indifferently stained the walls of hundreds of households—some noble, some commonfolk; he didn't discriminate.
Even when everyone in his Empire had been brought to their knees—begging for mercy—their Lord Emperor didn't care. Them bowing and pleading for mercy simply made them easier targets than those who uselessly ran. Cutting them into several pieces was made a cinch, their deaths painless.
Billions of humans lost their lives in the span of a couple of hours. And all of them had died because of the indiscriminate actions of the man they once revered as a kind and benevolent ruler.
Naturally, this sudden and unexplainable event found its way into the ears of the strongest figures in the world. Right away, they set out to dispatch the rogue Emperor. However, as if their lives were worth no more than the lowly mortals and weaker Practitioners, they too were slain with a single strike.
The 72 Kingmasters were the first to go. Each one was around as strong as the SSS-Rank, but that didn't make any difference in the face of Lord Emperor Cassius's power. And once they had all perished in anticlimactic ways, he moved onto the 12 Paragons.
The 12 Paragons—being far stronger than the Kingmasters—were individually of the SSS+ Rank, but with the addition of their joint 'Paragon Formation,' they could just barely match the weakest in the SSS++ Rank.
Yet, none of that altered the destined outcome. Their individual strengths failed, and their Paragon Formation was shattered with minimal effort. They were then publicly beheaded, their heads left to roll and their corpses left to rot.
Finally, the 5 Earth Gods—all-mighty fantastical existences who were rumored to have created the 5 Major Continents—made their grand appearance. A rare appearance, one might add. After all, for thousands of years, they had kept away from worldly matters while in closed-door isolation.
They had not even heard of Lord Emperor Cassius before seeing him in person—covered in blood from head to toe—glaring at them as if they were mere bugs. He clearly didn't put them in his eyes, and this angered them.
Without even asking his name or understanding the truth of the situation, the 5 Earth Gods unleashed their full strength and attacked Cassius.
The ridiculously large Continents cracked underneath the oppressive pressure they emitted, yet Cassius didn't even so much as budge. He simply stared, his open eyelids remaining just as unwilling to move. And then, with just the crisp unsheathing of his scarlet-shaded katana, the Earth Gods' massive mystical eyes reflected sheer terror. A thin reddish-black sword arc was the last thing they saw before they were cleaved in two, with every aspect of their being—including their close connection with the World—erased.
The weakest of the Earth Gods had power at the SSS++ Rank peak, with the strongest at the SSS+++ Rank. But did that information even so much as faze Lord Emperor Cassius?
So what if the difference between each minor Rank was like the difference between Heaven and Earth? Were bacteria and ants any harder to kill for a human? The SSS++ and SSS+++ Ranks were no different.
In all honesty, the Earth God's should've felt honored that Cassius felt the need to use an actual weapon to send them into the afterlife.
Then again, the only reason he did that was because their connections with the World ran very, very deep. If one wasn't capable of killing them swiftly enough, then they'd be able to infinitely revive due to their worldly connections. Troublesome. It was for this singular reason that Cassius expended a bit more effort into killing them.
By the time the news of the deaths of the strongest beings in the world spread around the 5 Continents, it had already become old news.
New news was: "The End of the World has arrived…"
The one whom countless people looked up to had brought about Armageddon. Moreover, he had done so within a single day.
One day, everything was okay; it was normal. The next day, it became anything but normal, with the whole world literally on fire. A blue brilliance enveloped the ground and skies, appearing both beautiful and terrifying…
However, out of the trillions of miles of surface area that made up the world of 'Tymnar,' there was one spot untainted by the Azura Flames. The fields that Cassius had landed in when he first appeared in this world—the Fields of Wishful Beginnings—a boring and uneventful place that the Transmigrator found himself in at the end of his journey.
The place where the one who ended the world dragged his legs toward in the end of times…
What do you think?
