Chapter 354 354: Originverse, Upgrading Origin Village
Nyxvoldar's pensive expression overflowed with even greater respect for his Master. Even Raijin arrogantly huffed after realizing that he was the grand steed of such an incomprehensible entity.
*Ding!*
[GX-Rank 'Origin Progenitor' Bloodline has advanced to GX+ Rank after fully fusing with the 'Azura Devourer' Bloodline, 'Azura Refinement Physique,' as well as dozens of other extremely unique existential qualities!]
Amazing!
[Don't get too excited now, Dear Host!]
"Why not?"
[Because…]
[Hmm… I just don't like when you're happy! As a firm believer in Character Development, I see happiness as the Devil's Whisperings!]
"...."
Promptly ignoring the personable—and annoying—voice of his System, Cassius glossed over the remainder of the System Notifications, which included the unlocking of his newest System Feature.
*Ding!*
[All Aspects of Existence (Except for Godforce) → 2.3 Unity]
[Increase Unity value by acquiring more Bloodlines, more Physiques, more everything!]
[Assimilate them with your Origin Progenitor Core to acquire the best parts of what was absorbed. This will not only improve you as a whole, but it will also open up milestones for Unity.]
[0.1/0.1 Unity] - [You can now purchase 1★ Origin Creatures from the Origin System Shop!]
"A System Shop…?"
The pop-up screens related to the Minionverse were next, but setting those aside for later, Cassius honed in on the System Shop.
{[Origin Shop]}
—Tier 1—
[1★ Origin Farmer] - [Cost: 0.01 Unity]
[1★ Origin Woodcutter] - [Cost: 0.02 Unity]
[1★ Origin Builder] - [Cost: 0.03 Unity]
'Hmm…' Cassius pondered. 'Will using Unity take away from this seamless synchronized feeling I get when I circulate my power?'
As if reading his mind, the System answered:
[No! The Unity measurement is simply there as a cap and limiter! It in no way takes away from how easily you can use all aspects of your existence at once! It also doesn't reduce the upper thresholds for your Origin Core's fusion limits—meaning you can limitlessly assimilate new Bloodlines, etc.!]
"I see…"
After a brief pause. "And just what purpose do these Origin Creatures serve?" he asked. "It doesn't seem like I can take them out into the real world just yet."
[You indeed can't—yet!]
[As for their purpose, well… Would you like to Fuse the Origin Shop with the 4th Idle Benefit!?]
"???"
"This…" Cassius's forehead wrinkled. "Why does it seem like everything has been orchestrated by you from the very beginning? You know what my answer will be; you anticipated it."
[What will your answer be, Dear Host? I'm just a clueless and pitiable System; I don't know anything…]
Clicking his tongue, Cassius tapped the [YES] button that was practically shoving itself down his throat.
*Ding~!*
[Origin Shop + Minionverse = Originverse]
[Base Unit converted from "Nothing" → "Origin"]
[Origin Units: Woodcutter, Farmer, and Builder are now available for purchase inside the Originverse!]
[A Tier 0 Origin Village has been created!]
[You can now begin evolving and expanding the Origin Village—possessing no limits to expansion and evolution! (Assuming you're capable enough)]
Cassius's vision suddenly warped out of his control, twisting his scenery into a whole new world. A very, very—
Empty world.
"Where is everything?" Cassius questioned, his eyesight saddened by the singular view of a small, ragged tent erected in the middle of an endless white space. "Wasn't there supposed to be a Village or something? Does this look like a Village to you?? It's so… so…"
So depressing!
Like, really, really depressing!
Sighing, Cassius descended to the white-space's surface floor. Something immediately appeared above the ragged tent:
{[Simple Origin Tent]} - [Tier 0 Village]
—[This tent marks the beginning of something truly great and should be treated with the highest degree of respect.]
[Upgrade Cost: 0.01 Unity]
"…Okay…" was all Cassius could say in the face of the large piece of cloth being barely held up by three long sticks. "Upgrade."
*Ding!*
[Simple Origin Tent has evolved!]
[Simple Origin Tent (Tier 0) → Simple Origin Hut (Tier 1)]
Before Cassius's apathetic multi-colored eyes, the ragged tent burst into light. The light gradually expanded and molded into the shape of something much unlike a triangular tent.
After a couple of seconds, the light subsided. The appearance of the new structure was then revealed.
A hut!
One room, one bed, and straw roofing!
It was… a hut.
Silence…
*Ding!*
[Would you like to continue upgrading your wonderful Origin Village!?]
Cassius couldn't even muster up a retort. He just nodded, doing his best not to let his emotions get the better of him.
[Upgrade Cost: 0.1 Unity]
[Are you sure you want to continue upgrading? I know that's a lot to you—]
"Just do it," Cassius seethed, growing even madder after hearing the quiet snickering of the System. 'This F*cker…'
[Simple Origin Hut has evolved!]
[Simple Origin Hut (Tier 1) → Basic Origin House (Tier 2)]
Just like before, light exploded from the hut, molding into a new, larger form. Once the light faded, the new Origin Village structure appeared.
The house had a single story, old brick and mud architecture, and three separate spaces inside. Overall, it could be compared to the home of an ancient Mayan civilization or any other pre-modern settlement.
Entering the house, Cassius felt the thatched door shudder. But other than that, the rest of the house was pretty well-built. A small family of less than five could certainly make it work.
Cassius was moderately satisfied.
But like the temptations of the devil…
*Ding~!*
[Would you like to continue upgrading your Origin Village~?]
No response.
"…Just do it…"
[The Upgrade Cost is 1 Unity; are you sure your brokeass can afford—]
"F*ck you and do it already!" A vein bulged on Cassius's forehead as he really felt like obliterating a mountain.
[Fine, fine~]
[Basic Origin House has evolved!]
[Basic Origin House (Tier 2) → Small Origin Courtyard (Tier 3)]
Following the light-molding process:
The house's foundations became sturdier.
The material composition improved.
A second floor was added.
The house now had five separate rooms, with its square footage significantly increased.
Outside the two-story home, a twenty-meter by twenty-meter plot of brown grass appeared. A small work-shed had also manifested in the northeast corner of the courtyard. It wasn't too big, but it could certainly house a few people if times were dire enough.
Seeing that he didn't have enough Unity for the next upgrade, Cassius stopped. He instead glanced at the Origin Units.
Of which he had three currently available choices…
What do you think?
