Chapter 6 - Essence and Blood Pill
Chapter 6: Essence and Blood Pill
The spring breeze caressed the land, carrying with it the soft fragrance of peach blossoms. Pink petals danced in the air, swirling gently before drifting to the ground. The faint floral scent lingered as it passed the nose of a stunning woman standing beneath the trees.
She smiled faintly, a tender expression gracing her lips. Her right hand rested lightly on her abdomen, stroking it with care.
“In just a few days, my children, you will be born. I long to see you soon.”
Her words carried warmth as she gazed at the scenery around her. This woman was none other than Huang Rong.
Approaching the final days of her pregnancy, Huang Rong followed her father’s advice and set aside all worries. Huang Yaoshi, having once lost his wife, Ah Heng, would not allow his daughter to be troubled by unnecessary concerns. Thus, he had arranged for her to rest peacefully, letting her heart and mind remain unburdened.
Soon after, a rare drowsiness overtook Huang Rong. Unconsciously, she drifted into a deep sleep.
As she slept, a strange fragrance emanated from her body—different from the scent of peach blossoms. It was an aroma unlike any other, one that could not be described in mere words.
The source of this scent lay within Huang Rong’s body.
Deep within her abdomen, where her unborn children resided, something extraordinary occurred. Within the Midheaven Mud Palace—the place where the soul resided—a blood-colored pill slowly emerged.
The elixir pulsed with energy, its fragrance growing more distinct. At that moment, within the unborn spirit of Imperial Sky, a thought stirred.
“The Essence and Blood Pill—a fifth-tier elixir, capable of purifying one’s lineage to achieve supreme potential. Though classified as a fifth-tier pill, its ingredients surpass even those of an eighth-tier elixir.”
This pill was an inheritance of the Ancient Eight Great Clans
, meant only for their direct descendants. When one of their chosen heirs was about to be born, the mother would take this pill, allowing the child’s bloodline to be further refined. Those with the lineage of a Dou Emperor would experience an even greater transformation, their bloodline growing purer, their qualifications nearing the supreme.Yet, despite its grade, the Essence and Blood Pill was incredibly difficult to refine. It had to be tailored for an unborn infant—a fragile being unable to withstand overwhelming medicinal power. Thus, the rare materials of an eighth-tier elixir were used to temper the pill’s strength, making it as mild as a second-tier elixir. This ensured that the infant could safely absorb its effects, enhancing both body and bloodline without risk of harm.
However, not all who consumed it absorbed its power equally. Infants were, by nature, ignorant, incapable of drawing upon such energy by will alone.
“But I… I am different.”
Imperial Sky’s thoughts echoed as he guided the elixir into Huang Rong’s body. The pill dissolved instantly, its essence transforming into a gentle medicinal current that flowed through the umbilical cord.
With concentrated mental focus, Imperial Sky carefully drew the medicinal energy into his body, ensuring its gradual absorption. The power spread slowly, nourishing his bones, blood, and meridians.
Though the pill’s strength had been tempered to a mere fraction of its potential, it was already more than enough for an unborn infant. Any stronger, and delicate body of a child would be overwhelmed.
Using his spiritual energy, Imperial Sky directed the flow, dispersing it evenly throughout his form.
Ninety percent of the pill’s power was drawn into his body, while the remaining ten percent was absorbed by his future twin, Guo Fu. Even with only ten percent, the pill’s effects would still benefit her greatly.
The warmth of the elixir was like sunlight pouring over his soul, continuously tempering and strengthening his body. As the medicinal power took effect, a dark purple impurity was expelled from within him.
Finally, exhaustion settled over him, and he drifted into sleep once more.
The Birth
The next day, golden sunlight bathed Peach Blossom Island, illuminating a scene of bustling activity.
Inside a grand courtyard, Huang Yaoshi stood with an uncharacteristic look of tension on his face. The usually composed master of the island now seemed unsettled, his serious expression betraying his concern.
Not far from him, Guo Jing paced back and forth, his anxiety evident with every step.
From within the birthing chamber, Huang Rong’s cries of pain echoed outward. In this ancient world, childbirth was no less than a step through the gates of death, and everyone present understood the peril of this moment.
Huang Yaoshi’s hands clenched into fists as he waited. Guo Jing’s face was filled with helplessness, unable to do anything but listen.
Time trickled by slowly. Within the womb, Imperial Sky had awakened once more. He could feel the tension in the air, the pressure of crowded energy surrounding him.
“It is time.”
He focused on his spiritual power, preparing himself for his entrance into the world.
Then, at last, a cry resounded through the air.
“He is born! It is a boy!”
The announcement sent a wave of relief and excitement through those waiting outside. Huang Yaoshi, normally so composed, could not help but exclaim toward the heavens.
“Good! Good! Excellent!”
Guo Jing, overwhelmed with joy, could only grin foolishly, unable to form words.
But then—another cry.
“Wah! Waaaah!”
A second voice rang out, high and clear.
“She is born! A daughter! It is a dragon-phoenix twin birth!”
A stunned silence followed before elation swept through the household. In ancient traditions, the birth of dragon-phoenix twins was considered a sign of divine fortune. In royal lineages, such an occurrence was believed to be a blessing from the heavens themselves.
Huang Yaoshi, for all his wisdom, found himself speechless with joy.
Guo Jing, still lost in his happiness, simply continued grinning.
“Wonderful!” Huang Yaoshi finally exclaimed. “Today, the heavens have truly blessed us with double happiness!”
With eager anticipation, he turned toward the midwife and said, “Bring my grandchildren to me. I wish to see them with my own eyes.”
Shortly after, the midwife emerged, her face marked with an odd expression.
Huang Yaoshi’s gaze immediately fell upon the two crimson cloth bundles in her arms. Though he had yet to see the children’s faces, his heart swelled with expectation.
Yet, something in the midwife’s demeanor made him pause. His keen eyes narrowed slightly.
“What is the matter?” he asked, his voice calm but firm.
The midwife hesitated, forcing a smile. “My lord, the young lady is healthy, and your daughter is resting peacefully. However… however, the young master…” She faltered.
Huang Yaoshi’s expression darkened. Without another word, he reached forward and took the infant from her arms.
As he unwrapped the cloth, his breath hitched slightly.
There, nestled within, was a tiny face.
But unlike most newborns, whose fine baby hair was black or yellowish, this child’s soft, delicate fuzz was a striking silver.
A strange light flickered in Huang Yaoshi’s eyes as he stared at the infant in his arms…
What do you think?
