Chapter 1035: Exploration
The training began to show some result, but it was slow for Rain's tastes. He tried to turn that into a skill, but the overseer didn't accept it… maybe he knew what Rain wanted and he wasn't willing too cooperate without much when the technique was incomplete or was so dangerous.
Rain also tried to learn some skills for the Diligence path, but he was unable to do so as well… his ideas were a bit flawed, so he will need to work on them. That being said, he followed a bit of Sakaki's advice and made some progress on the electric mage's path.
Level 5: Charged Bolts - Enhance your ability to control and direct lightning energy, allowing you to cast charged bolts that home in on enemies, delivering shocking damage at the cost of one hundred points of mana per charge.
Level 10: Thunderous Shield - Summon a protective Thunderous Shield that absorbs incoming damage and provides a temporary electrical barrier for yourself and nearby allies at the cost of two hundred points of mana per shield.
Level 15: Electrified Aura - Deepen your connection to electricity, increasing your maximum mana by one hundred points per level and enhancing attack damage while providing resistance to lightning-based attacks.
Level 20: Volt Surge - Invoke the surging power of Volt Surge, creating an electrifying aura that damages and slows down nearby foes while electrifying them at the cost of fifty mana points per second.
"This should be enough for now," Rain thought.
"I think that you are taking too slow this, naturally, electricity is the best way to attack since it is the closest to light magic," Sakaki said. "Imagine attacking, defending at light speed. Is there anything more amazing than that?"
"As an object with mass approaches the speed of light, its relativistic mass increases, and the amount of energy required to continue accelerating it also increases. The energy required to accelerate an object to the speed of light becomes infinite, making it impossible to reach or exceed this speed with finite energy… imagine forcing me to use infinite energy," Rain said.
"You can't apply logic or basic science when magic is part of the equation, you know," Sakaki said. "There is no romance on that."
"Whatever, I have better things to do," Rain said and then approached his telescope.
Rain finally could see Uranus. Uranus had a bluish-green appearance due to the presence of methane in its atmosphere. Methane absorbs red light and reflects blue and green light, giving the planet its characteristic color.
The atmosphere of Uranus wass primarily composed of hydrogen and helium, with traces of methane, water, and ammonia. The presence of methane in the upper atmosphere contributes to the absorption of sunlight in the red part of the spectrum, giving the planet its unique color.
Still, the planet seemed a lot more blue and there were few traces of green… Rain could see a lot of mana on it as well, all over the planet.
"Well, they have been here… the ice dragons," Rain said.
"The planet looks more blue because of the mana and the snowstorms on it, created by the dragons," Sakaki said. "However, the concentration of mana doesn't seem high enough for them to be there now. Well, Vanessa can still be used there. The place is also rich in Amonia, but we don't have the technology to use it, it would be helpful to use that for fertilization."
"That can wait," Rain said while rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Howe can we use your power to absorb the mana of several places at once?"
"That is impossible as I am now," Vanessa said. "Still, the ice dragons are prideful, right? They should have left some places richer in mana than others that we can use."
Rain couldn't imagine that… even though she had a point. Regardless, all the relics received mana lately, Nigel was mostly purified as well, maybe that was why he barely talked lately. At the same time, the shadow around Elisabetha seemed a bit weaker… it almost looked like she would need all the mana in a world for her to be completely free of the corruption of the sins magic.
When the vessel was one day away from Uranus, Rain called for a meeting with the leaders to inform them of the things. Their movement speed improved, so they arrived two days earlier than expected.
"So, how are we going to proceed on the exploration of this new world?" Esmeralda asked, as usual, she was the first the asks the questions when it comes to exploration.
"Uranus is a gas giant, primarily composed of hydrogen, helium, methane, and other gases. It doesn't have a solid surface like terrestrial planets such as Earth," Rain said. "However, the ice dragons had been there… and I don't think that they flew around all the time… the clouds are too thick and cover the whole place, so we can't tell things from a distance.
We will have to approach and see by ourselves."
"So, are we going to use your domain?" Regis asked. "Only a few people should go once again."
"The planet is relatively small, but we don't have time much time," Rain said. "I would say that we should split up and look for large concentrations of mana and possible traces of the ice dragons activity. Splitting the work will be faster."
Everyone in the group was well aware of Rain's cautious nature. If he was proposing a plan that involved splitting up for the exploration of Uranus, then it indicated that he genuinely believed it to be their best course of action.
Despite some initial reservations, the group decided to conduct tests with the exploration suits to ensure their durability and effectiveness in harsh environments. To their satisfaction, the suits proved to be resistant to both harsh environmental conditions and magic, providing a layer of protection that would be crucial for their mission.
With this assurance, they prepared to deploy the suits for the exploration, ready to face the unknowns of Uranus.
What do you think?
