Chapter 760: No options
The whole gang had assembled in the capital while Rain was gone, so he had the chance to explain only once what had happened and how things changed. As one would expect, they looked really troubled when they heard the state of things… the magic and beast people couldn't be trusted.
They were branded by the enemies and they probably would lose their minds soon while they also gained a huge deal of power.@@novelbin@@
"So… we can only count on the sea folk?" Reca asked while she showed the least troubled face of the group. "I guess that isn't so bad, we can still try to contact the demi humans, right? They also can't become allies with the beast and magic people."
"I forgot to mention that there is a huge chance that they might have sent some assassins to kill me since I am studying their magic," Rain said. "They might not be enemies of the humans per se, but they probably want to kill me to slow down my research when it comes to their magic. It is hard to define them, I can say for sure that their upper echelon wants me dead, though."
Silence took over the atmosphere as the implications of Rain's statement sank in. The severity of the situation and the weight of the impending dangers lingered heavily, rendering the mood somber and tense. The uncertainty of what actions to take next loomed over the room, leaving everyone at a loss for direction.
As the heavy silence persisted and the weight of the situation didn't fade, a sense of despair and concern gripped the room. The solemn realization that they were facing an unprecedented and formidable adversary without a clear strategy to counter it dampened the spirits of those present, casting a pall of uncertainty and gloom over the assembly.
"What are you guys doing?" Rain asked. "We don't have time to get depressed."
"We get that we have more options against the dragons, but…" Terra said with her face down.
"... We will lose a lot of people on this battle no matter what," Seara added.
Rain couldn't deny that… their best options were all things that Rain didn't want to use it… the first was to use the shield. It would help Rain a lot, and it would at least make him five times stronger when using water-based attacks and ice attacks too.
Another thing that Rain could do was to try to find more relics that the kraken dragons probably had hidden… but it was hard to imagine that all of them had things at the level of the golden bow.
"... It seems that our best option is to invade the sea dragon's monsters' territories and then steal that armor," Rain said. "Things should be fine as long as one person doesn't use the armor and the shield at the same time since the spear isn't like the shield."
"That is too risky… even though they might not be waiting for this," Branden said.
"We can get more of the dragons' blood, so it is a risk that we have to take," Rain said. "With the blood of those dragons, we will be able to recover health, mana, and stamina faster and also control water magic better. The rings will probably be on the same level as the coral spears. That will give us a chance to fight against earth and fire dragons for as long as they last."
"... It seems that we don't have any other option," Esmeralda said after she closed her eyes to think for a moment. "Unfortunately, I think that we need to prepare for the worst-case scenario this time around."
"... You are right," Rain said after nodding once. "We will have to hide all of those who can't fight somewhere else. In a place where the enemies can't find them. The underwater kingdom can still be found and attacked by the enemies, so we will have to choose another place."
Unfortunately, the humans were surrounded by enemies almost from all sides, so they didn't have many options left. Your next chapter is on My Virtual Library Empire
Rain considered moving all of them to the demi humans land… they definitely will survive inside their territory, but they will probably be considered second-class citizens in the best case scenario… in the worst, they will become slaves or cannon fodder when the dragons decide to attack that land.
Another option was to move south… the area was mainly empty, after all. It was cold, but if Rain and his friends worked hard, they could create underground shelter and with the help of the magic people, they would be able to grow food underground as well.
After Rain shared the possibilities with everyone, they understood the gravity of the situation… the possibility of moving an entire population of a country to thousands of miles away seemed insane, to say the least, but if Rain was considering that, he wasn't one hundred percent sure of their survival… winning wasn't even crossing his mind.
Humans were that small and weak if compared to all the other species in that situation.
"Rain… are you sure that we don't have any more options?" Roan asked.
"Dad… the fight that I saw couldn't be something that we could achieve as humans with one or two decades of training," Rain said. "Sure, those here can fight and survive against some evolved dragons, but not against hundreds of them.
In the best-case scenario, I can say that ten warriors can face a single young dragon, but each side has at least one thousand of them, and I am certain that the dragons aren't using all of their forces."
Everyone could tell that Rain was telling the truth… he usually would always consider the worst-case scenario, but he would never give in to despair and would fight against the odds no matter what.
Rain was going to fight with his family and friends until the end no matter what, but he couldn't see them winning this time, and he could only see a single solution to that whole situation… the best outcome for humans was…
What do you think?
