Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 767: Coordination

In the end, made a conscious decision not to extend further assistance, feeling it wasn’t worth pursuing if Rain wasn’t fully committed to that cause… even though he did everything possible aside from offering his life.

"I hope that we can talk again. I wish you luck in the next battle," Isa said.

"Thanks, until another time," Rain said.

Upon reaching the southern ocean, Rain noticed a clear absence of any signs indicating the presence of the Kraken dragons. It appeared they weren’t ready to launch an assault on the human territories as they had done previously.

It became increasingly apparent that the primary targets would likely be the sea folk, especially considering the absence of the water dragons and their advanced forms among the attackers on the other sides…

With his speed, Rain reached one of the holes that had been created when the teleporting guy made his base disappear… the place now was filled with water, but it still could be used as a base. Rain just had to make all the water move, or a good part of it, and freeze the rest and cover it with snow.

It needed to be bigger, though… hundreds of thousands of humans would have to live there and who knows how many sea folk as well.

"We have to find a way to create a barrier that won’t let their mana leave the place…" Rain rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "They will have to keep working on this for a while, but with the magic people on our side and the sea folk, this shouldn’t take more than one month." Explore more at NovelBin.Côm

Rain began to work on making the basis of the underground hideout. It was originally ten kilometers long and wide, but Rain wanted at least the double of the size since people would have to grow their food there as well. In any case, with his limited mana, Rain had to work for a day to get rid of the water, and seal the top of the hideout with a thick layer of earth, ice, and then snow.

The interior was good enough, but it was a bit dark… it was two hundred meters tall, so they could make plenty of tall buildings there.

Still, the base was three thousand kilometers away from the human kingdom… so the trip was bound to be long and that would leave plenty of traces behind for the dragons to find them.

In the end, Rain decided that they had to ask Seadrei to use his giant pets to transport as many people as possible overnight. A few trips should do the job… even though the giant monsters under his command probably don’t like the cold either.

Once Rain returned home, he saw that the capital was in total turmoil. The capital had been taken by a dark atmosphere. Many within the population decided to protest in front of the castle, expressing a wide array of sentiments. They vehemently opposed the idea of abandoning their homes and lands, and they were equally against permitting others to do so.

For some, the notion of remaining in place and facing the impending dangers head-on seemed like a viable choice, even if it meant potential peril and the prospect of perishing there.

"Things are bad and are bound to get worse…" Terra said. @@novelbin@@

"... Did you convince Dad?" Seara asked while showing an uneasy expression.

"Yes, he will help us," Rain replied while caressing Sealyn’s forehead in her mother’s arms. "I also found a place that we can use to hide. Anyway, you guys are free to use the raging phoenix to stop anyone who causes too much trouble. I am going to talk to Seadrei to use his giant pets to help those who want to come with us.

For anyone who wants to take their chances, we can leave the whole country to them."

Before leaving again, Rain patted his kids… they looked uneasy as well, even though Rain was keeping his composure. They could tell that he wasn’t showing as much energy as usual, and that made them feel nervous.

Everyone who knew Rain could tell that he had many thoughts inside his head that he was trying to suppress… before, he faced them head-on, but now, he couldn’t help but think that he was making mistakes left and right.

Once Rain was ready to move, he saw a bunch of people with minimal luggage already moving to the tunnels… they were ready to move, and it was better to make as many of them move as soon as possible to avoid trouble.

Before long, Rain reached the ocean again and saw that the wavers were moving intensely… at the same time, he stopped to talk with Julie for a bit and hurried her and those who wanted to leave the port town to head to the capital and then south. Someone that loyal had to survive that situation… Rain figured out that she would be a great asset to the future generation.

When Rain reached the capital, he found a bunch of the sea folk heading north with spears… they were ready to fight. Rain clicked his tongue since it seemed that the dragons were acting like he had expected, but a lot sooner than he had predicted. In any case, all of the royal guards had moved, so no one was there aside from Seadrei to greet him.

When Rain explained the situation, Seadrei showed a troubled expression…

"... I was planning to call them to fight against the enemies," Seadrei said. "But if we are going to move to the land soon, then it can’t be helped."

"Sorry about all the trouble that I am causing, I will make up for it…eventually," Rain said.

Seadrei was quite taken aback by Rain’s uncharacteristic behavior. The usual spark in Rain’s eyes, the fervor in his voice, and the confidence that usually radiated from him seemed to have vanished. It was as if Rain was a shadow of his usual self…
