Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 897: Hesitation

"This isn't half bad, but do you think that it will be enough?" Larisa asked. "It will, in the end, it is the best option to make the enemies unaware that I am here. They will think that somewhere else summoned that. Esmeralda's brother doesn't know much about the dragons magic that much and the dragons might think that this is something that is being controlled by Isa."

It was also another sure fire way that the shield won't get covered in dragons blood and will obtain more power to perhaps cause Rain's some problems. The real issue is how Rain could truly capitalize using that thing to improve his skills… at that rate, it will only level up a skill that he didn't have yet.

Rain tried to make some adjustments, but he was unable to make the crystal soldier level up things like his Earth or or ice related skills… the reason was probably the fact that he created crystal directly.

In the end, several hours passed without finding real answers to those issues and Rain eventually was visited by Isa.

"You created something unusual…" Isa said while looking at the crystal soldier. "Your wife and daughter are looking for you, they can't feel your presence while you are here. I guess the dragons are on the move."

"Already, huh?" Rain said and then sighed. "I guess I am going to… I can't let many people see me with them while the fight happens. That will create rumors that will cause more trouble than help. Are you fine?"

"Yeah, I already calmed down my nerves," Isa said. "It was surprisingly easy once I confirmed that the power of the sins increased on me even though the corruption remained the same. Even after three thousand years, I didn't get rid of all of it."

"Is it even possible to do that for a dragon?" Rain asked. "I assumed that your nature could be different than your parents, but you still would have traces of them thanks to the power inherited. Anyway, you said sins… how can you have the power of more than one when one of your parents was a human."

"It is a long story that I would rather not disclose," Isa shrugged. "Anyway, I didn't want this power up, but I guess I fell for your trick and you want something in exchange and I also hate to feel indebted to others. When I was affected by your domain, I was able to sense the presence of those that you have found recently.

They made me recall something that I had sealed away a long time ago, but I guess it canbe useful to you."

Isa walked to the far side of the warehouse. There, amidst the clutter of boxes and relics, she singled out one particular treasure chest that stood out from the rest. This box, unlike the others, emanated an eerie aura that seemed to ripple through the air like living shadows. Its presence felt ominous, and Rain could sense a dense, corrupt power radiating from within.

The box was like no other; its surface appeared to writhe with dark, shadowy energies, almost as if it contained a living entity trapped within its confines. The box itself seemed to defy conventional descriptions, shrouded in an enigmatic darkness that appeared to swirl and pulsate.

Rain could sense an overwhelming, corrupt power radiating from the treasure box, indicative of something immensely potent contained within. It was as if a powerful dragon had channeled its essence into creating this treasure chest for the sole purpose of containing something of unimaginable significance—a power so intense that it imbued the very box with a presence that felt alive and malevolent.

"As you should already know, some dragons guard some relics that they can destroy, my father also had one and he passed it to me," Isa said.

"Why didn't he just toss it into the sun?" Rain asked. "It seemed that he was rather conscious of this, after all."

"Guarding those relics was something that we did for thousands of years, again, I wasn't told why… he just said that a great evil was sealed inside," Isa said when she touched the shadow and the shadow bit her hand and began to suck her blood for a bit. "I always thought that it was an evil for the world, but maybe it was an evil just for the dragons."

"Well, I can see his point… the guys inside me are rather troublesome," Rain said. "Wait, this came out very wrong."

As the shadows dissipated, the mysterious treasure chest underwent a transformation that caught Rain off guard. What was once a box brimming with eerie shadows and dark energy now unveiled its true form—an ominous, dark plate that seemed to pulsate with unknown energy. It emanated an unsettling presence, hinting at the malevolent power it held within.

Revealing its interior, the dark plate unfolded like a sinister flower, revealing a sight that left Rain astonished. Nested within the depths of this enigmatic container lay a sword that defied conventional description. Its design was strikingly sinister, sending shivers down Rain's spine at first glance.

The handle of the sword was forged from the same dark metal that sealed the other relics. It possessed an aura of containment and suppression as if it had been specifically crafted to harness and control dark forces. The hilt exuded an ominous energy, hinting at the immense power contained within this blade.

The blade itself was a sight to behold, resembling the claw or nail of a colossal and nightmarish creature. Its shape curved elegantly, reminiscent of a katana but far more menacing. The edge of the blade appeared as sharp as a razor's edge, carrying an innate lethality that seemed almost palpable to Rain's senses.

"Well, this is surprising… perhaps not," Rain said. "I still don't want to see the true materials inside the coral shield and the coral spear. That makes me very anxious."
