Chapter 953: No one asked
In the end, without any other choice, Rain passed down his relics to his friends and family… he felt a bit bad since he didn't give any to Sealyn and Seara, but they didn't need all that much if compared to this side. The only things that he kept with himself were the armor, the shield and the sword.
"If they do or say anything, you can tell me and I will melt them and turn them into pans," Rain said. "These ones didn't have much personality, but you can never be sure if they absorb a lot of dragon blood."
"We will try to end things faster here to help you as well," Terra said. "Be careful out there, if you die, I will kill you myself."
"All right, let's raise some death flags," Rain said. "Who else has something to say?"
"We don't have time for that, move out," Esmeralda raised her voice.
From a meek and a by shy princess to a non-nonsense battlehardened queen… Esmeralda sure changed a lot. In the end, Rain looked at his family and friends and they just nodded before rejoining the battle… they were determined not to let him shoulder the fate of the world by himself alone once more, after all.
In the end, Rain nodded once more and then used the Water Mirror technique to disappear as well and then he flew toward the mountains while following the fissures on the ground.
"Aren't you afraid that you will be found by them?" Larisa asked.
"I am hoping that they will, if I could, and my mission were a bit different, I wouldn't even use the water mirror," Rain replied while showing a difficult expression when he reached the mountains.
Rain was grappling with a multitude of conflicting emotions and concerns. His primary objective revolved around saving the species, a monumental responsibility that weighs heavily on him. However, in the middle of this mission, he was deeply worried about the safety and well-being of his family and friends.
There's a significant underlying fear coming from the failure of a similar mission a century ago, which has cast a shadow on Rain's confidence in his decision-making abilities. This lack of confidence was a source of great anxiety for him, knowing that not adhering to his orders or failing to achieve success could place not just himself but also those he cares for in a difficult situation.
Despite these inner struggles and the complexity of his emotions, Rain found himself leaning towards following orders and complying with the plan. This choice seems easier to him, even though he despised himself for thinking in such a manner.
He's torn between his commitment to the mission and his deep concern for the safety of his loved ones, a dilemma that causes him significant distress and self-criticism.
In the end, Rain crossed the mountains without being found out… the cold wind didnt stop him, but once he reached the other side, he saw that the once full of life and green land of the dragons had become like the north pole, a land of nothing but snow and ice.
"The cracks are pointing to the center of their territory… I have to hurry up," Rain thought.
Rain used Frozen Impulse to move faster and the environment helped him quite a lot. Moreover, the fact that he was also using the shield and the armor were also improving his water-related abilities… the only issue was the fact that now and then, Rain would see some images of Nigel's life appearing in front of him for a fraction of a second.
"Don't blame me, this is beyond my control," Nigel said.
Rain had better things to do than complain, so he just kept moving. At some point in time, he was forced to slow down, though. His domain was no longer helping Rain fight and endure the cold. His breathing was already freezing as soon as it left his mouth.
When Rain gazed up at the sky, he was surprised by a bizarre sight. The clouds, which typically moved with the natural flow of the wind, were now motionless, frozen in place like suspended like paintings in the sky.
"This phenomenon occurs when the temperature falls to an extreme level, causing the air to reach a state where it can no longer support the movement of clouds. Clouds are composed of tiny water droplets or ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. When the temperature drops significantly, well below freezing, the water vapor within the clouds turns into ice crystals.
At this point, the movement of the air becomes almost non-existent due to the frigid conditions," Nigel said. "For clouds to be completely frozen and motionless, the environment needs to be extremely cold.
While the specific temperature required can vary based on several factors, including humidity, air pressure, and altitude, typically, temperatures below minus 40 degrees Celsius and minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit can freeze clouds and halt their movement."
"No one asked," Rain said.
"I am technically a self-taught scientist, so I feel the urge to show off now and then," Nigel said.
"The desire to show off doesn't come because you are self-taught, it is because you are you," Rain said.
Without any other choice, Rain decided to use the Magic Scribe path to create some words around him that were emitting heat… he had to summon a bunch of them to fight the cold. After moving for six hours, Rain felt the mana levels increasing and the fissures stopped as well. However, he could feel the mana in the environment being pulled by something ahead…
"Oh man… I am a total mess," Rain thought as he felt his heart beat racing.
After living this much and facing so many things, Rain never thought that he would fear failure that much, to the point that he truly felt cold sweat running down his back. Dying was almost easy in that situation, but the idea of letting his family down to endure another hell wasn't easy to endure…
What do you think?
