Infinite Range: The Sniper Mage

Chapter 280 280: The Abyssal Rift

TitanBreaker's cold words silenced the entire hall. The players inside fell into an awkward hush. Some, like Swordmaster, wanted to refute him, but their expressions stiffened—because deep down, they knew he was right.

Last time, in Bloodaxe City, Orgod single-handedly suppressed the leaders of eight major guilds and even seized the Demon God War Banner.

Thinking about challenging Godslayer now was nothing short of delusional.

CrimsonTiger broke the silence. "We can't take them on alone, but what if we ally with Dragon's Kiss Guild? Especially considering… they have two Divine Soul Seal holders, including Usher, ranked sixth on the Leaderboards. We might just stand a chance."

"Why do you say that?"

A lazy yet commanding voice echoed from the throne.

A man sat there, clad in crimson light armor, a Demon Crown resting atop his head. His once-handsome features now carried a faint, eerie charm. At his feet, two Lord-Class Three-Headed Hellhounds lay curled up like obedient pets.

TitanBreaker sighed. "My people have scouted Celestial Fortress up close. That fortress has thirty-two Sacred Cannons—their firepower is terrifying. They can wipe out an entire mid-sized city with ease."

The room fell into stunned silence.

EclipseRider furrowed his brows. "That strong? You expect us to believe that?"

TitanBreaker didn't argue. Instead, he summoned a recorded battle clip in front of them—footage of Celestial Fortress unleashing its firepower.

With a single coordinated volley, ten thousand monsters were reduced to nothing but experience points. In the face of the Death Shockwave, no creature lasted more than five seconds. Everything was obliterated into dust.

Thirty-two Sacred Cannons…

Each blast carried S-Class Forbidden Spell-level devastation!

A chill ran down everyone's spine. It didn't matter how many players they had—before they could even approach, they would be annihilated in a single wave of fire!

TitanBreaker smirked bitterly. "And that's not all. The biggest cannon wasn't even fired—it's a divine artillery piece called [Gaedashiram's Wrath]. I can't even begin to estimate its power."

Silence.

No one dared to suggest attacking anymore. Their faces had turned pale, their earlier battle cries smothered by the sheer, oppressive reality of Celestial Fortress's firepower.

"…I see." Usher finally spoke, his voice slow and measured. "Now is not the time to wage war against Godslayer."

He turned toward TitanBreaker with a faint smile. "But you didn't come to me just to throw cold water on my plans, did you?"

Usher's expression remained calm, devoid of any frustration. His gaze, deep and enigmatic, was impossible to read.

TitanBreaker's eyes flickered. "For some reason, Orgod separated from his team—he flew toward the Abyssal Rift."

"Oh?"

Usher chuckled, the glint in his eyes sharpening.

"He's heading into the Abyssal Rift… He's not the first to have this idea."

TitanBreaker's voice turned resolute. "The Abyssal Rift must be filled with danger. I firmly believe… this is the perfect opportunity to kill him."

But Usher didn't respond immediately. Instead, he gestured for all but the eight guild leaders to leave the room.

Once the others were gone, Skyslasher couldn't hold back his frustration. "We can't just let this slide! They're practically at our doorstep! Are we really going to do nothing?"

Ivy shot him a glare, silently urging him to shut up.

Usher finally stood. His eyes flickered with Soulfire, eerie and mesmerizing like the gaze of a demon.

A sly smile played on his lips.

"…As expected of master and disciple. Always breaking the rules." His voice was soft, yet filled with amusement.

"Since he's made his move, I'll follow."

"…What the hell?"

Orson stared ahead, a chill creeping up his spine.

He had expected something dangerous or perhaps even mystical beyond the Abyssal Rift.

But nothing could have prepared him for this scene.

One man, one dragon—floating in what seemed like outer space.

A vast Bright Galaxy stretched endlessly before him, flickering like a celestial dream. Below them, however, loomed a lifeless, ashen-colored planet.

No.

Not a planet.

A corpse.

An unfathomably gigantic floating corpse.

Only its upper half remained, sprawled across the abyss like a dead god's remains.

Its massive arms, each spanning thousands of meters, were covered in towering white mushroom-like trees, growing like grotesque hair, their canopies thick and clustered.

The mushroom crowns were riddled with holes—holes chewed through by monstrous corpse insects. At that very moment, countless of those twisted creatures crawled out of the holes, wriggling along the colossal arm before leaping into the Abyssal Rift below.

High above, Crimson Lizard King hovered, surveying the grotesque landscape.

Orson's gaze quickly landed on a specific area—the spot he had bombarded with his magic earlier.

Nestled within the densest part of the white fungal forest, several Corpse Insect Bosses, each the size of a lesser dragon, lay blown apart. The grotesque green fluids splattered across the terrain were an unsettling sight. Among the mangled remains, piles of loot gleamed.

At that moment, a gray system message unfolded before him.

[You have discovered the Divine Corpse of the Primordial Titan!]

Orson's breath hitched.

A Primordial Titan?!

His entire body went cold.

In Infinite Dimensions' lore, the world itself was created by twelve Titans, ancient beings of unfathomable power.

These Titans were known as the Primordial Titans—the ancestors of all titans!

No wonder these monsters weren't just Corpse Insects but Corpse Kings. No wonder they all had the Titan prefix in their names.

These creatures had spawned from the remains of a fallen Primordial Titan!

Orson's expression turned grim. From the moment the monsters began appearing, he had felt something was off.

Now he knew why.

These monsters hadn't appeared—they had crawled out of something.

And he had just found out what.

There was still one thing he wasn't certain about.

If the Monster Siege event was a sort of hard-mode preview of the larger war to come…

Then these Heaven Demon-like insects—could they have some connection to the actual Heaven Demons that would one day descend upon this world?

Could it be that they were born from the remains of a fallen, transcendent lifeform?

Nurtured by the corpse of something that once held ultimate power?
