Chapter 399: Wood Dragon God, Aldoron

A magic flying carpet carried Nate and the others southeast across the Guiltina Continent.

The Water Dragon God sat cross-legged on the carpet, staring blankly at his palm.

After being bound by the black chains of Dragon Taming, he was surprised to find his powers under control for the first time in years.

From this perspective, he almost felt like he should thank Nate.

“You’re taking me to see Elefseria?”

“Of course. He’s the one who issued the Hundred-Years Quest.”

Nate also sat cross-legged and, with a casual thought, materialized a brand-new deck of playing cards.

“Might as well pass the time. Want to play some cards, everyone?”

“By the way, this magic carpet we’re on was created using Arc of Embodiment. While it’s fast, it’ll still take at least six or seven hours to get there.”

Karameel clenched her fists as she sat beside the Water Dragon God, keeping a wary gaze on Nate.

“What are you planning? If you intend to take Water God-sama’s life, then please kill me first!”

Wendy tried to reassure her. “Karameel-san, we don’t intend to harm the Water Dragon God. He doesn’t even seem like an evil dragon.”

Carla took the deck from Nate and skillfully began shuffling the cards.

“Relax a little. Since we’re playing cards, what games do you like?”

“Cards?” The Water Dragon God, though calm, frowned slightly. “I’ve never played.”

As a dragon—and one worshipped as a deity—he’d never had the chance to sit and play cards with humans.

Nate chuckled. “If the other four dragons are as cooperative as you, this’ll be easy... Hm?”

Suddenly, Nate froze, his expression changing subtly.

Inside his body, his magic power surged unexpectedly. The magic source within him, acting as his reservoir, suddenly expanded, pushing past its previous nine-star limit.

[Magic Power: 10★]

Nate opened a system panel visible only to himself and confirmed it. Indeed, the power of the Magic Net had easily allowed him to surpass human limits. It had only been two months since he’d reached nine-star magic.

“What’s wrong, Nate?” Wendy asked, noticing his shift in expression.

“Nothing,” Nate replied, smiling faintly. “Let’s keep playing. By the way, Water Dragon God, what’s your name?”

“Mercphobia,” the dragon answered.

“Got it, Mercphobia. Let me teach you the rules...”

Under Nate’s guidance, Mercphobia quickly picked up the basics. They continued playing cards as the carpet glided through the sky.

Finally, around 2:00 p.m., they arrived at their destination:

The Mage Guild: Dragon Magia.

Outside the guild, Natsu was sparring with Elefseria, who had transformed into a dragon.

“It’s not fair! Why can you just turn into a dragon like that?” Natsu complained.

“Hahaha… because I’m similar to Acnologia,” Elefseria replied with a playful grin. “But that’s not a good thing. I learned Dragon Slayer Magic on my own, so becoming a dragon was inevitable. You, on the other hand, have a dragon suppressing the seed within you—something I truly envy.”

Hearing this, Natsu glanced at Igneel and shouted, “Igneel, can I turn into a dragon too?”

Igneel sighed, facepalming. “Most people fear turning into a dragon, and this brat wants to do it voluntarily?”

Suddenly, a voice came from above. “Hey, Natsu.”

A magic flying carpet descended from the sky, hovering a meter above the ground. Nate smiled and greeted him, “Seeing you this lively puts me at ease.”

“Nate!” Happy noticed an unfamiliar figure on the carpet and asked, “Who’s that?”

“A dragon...” Igneel’s gaze sharpened.

The Water Dragon God also took notice of Igneel and looked visibly shocked. “Fire Dragon King!”

Four hundred years ago, he had encountered Igneel. Such a legendary dragon was impossible not to recognize. Even in human form, a dragon’s aura couldn’t be hidden.

The moment they locked eyes, they recognized each other instantly.

“Water Dragon God!” Elefseria reverted to his human form, equally astonished. “Nate, you already went to Ermina?”

“Yep, and I brought him along.”

Nate hopped off the flying carpet and offered his hand. “Nice to meet you, Elefseria.”

Elefseria was briefly speechless. As expected of the Master of the Magic Net—the one who sealed Acnologia. To him, the Hundred-Years Quest was probably no more difficult than an ordinary S-rank mission.

“With your strength, I’m sure you can fulfill my lifelong wish!” Elefseria took a deep breath, hope filling his eyes. “A task that has plagued the magic world for centuries is finally—”

“Alright, enough chatter. Let’s get to the point,” Nate interjected, sounding impatient. “The Water Dragon God’s power has already been sealed. I’m leaving him and his secretary in your care. Next, I’m heading to find the Wood Dragon God.”

Turning to Natsu, he added, “Want to come along, Natsu? Happy?”

“Of course I’m going!”

“No way!”

Their answers couldn’t have been more different. Laughing, Natsu grabbed Happy and dragged him onto the flying carpet.

“What are you saying, Happy? We’re partners, aren’t we?”

“No! Gildarts, help me!” Happy wailed desperately.

Carla sneered. “How embarrassing, stupid cat.”

What was there to fear? Even if the other four dragons appeared all at once, she believed Nate could handle them.

“Take care of Natsu. Nate, I’ll keep watch over the Water Dragon God for you,” Igneel said calmly.

“Thanks, Igneel,” Nate replied, nudging the Water Dragon God and his assistant off the carpet.

Elefseria then produced five contract scrolls—one each for Nate, Wendy, Carla, Natsu, and Happy.

After signing, Natsu couldn’t help asking, “Gildarts, aren’t you coming?”

“I already failed once and don’t get a second chance. This is your stage, for the younger generation,” Gildarts said, waving them off with a grin. “Go experience true despair!”

The Water Dragon God was the easiest of the five to deal with; the remaining four wouldn’t be subdued so easily.

Nate chuckled. “Alright, we’re off. See you next time.”

The flying carpet lifted into the air again, its passenger list slightly altered.

Natsu, brimming with excitement, asked, “Where’s the Wood Dragon God? Nate, was the Water Dragon God strong?”

“Pretty strong—for humans,” Nate mused. Aside from himself, Zeref, and Acnologia, no one else stood a chance. Even Natsu, without the right preparation, would fall in an instant.

He opened the Magic Net map and searched for “Drasil.” A red marker appeared on the screen.

“It’s pretty far—an eight-hour flight at least. Let’s keep playing cards!”

They spent the journey to Drasil playing card games. Eight hours later, beneath the night sky, the group arrived at their destination.

“What… what is that!?” Happy clutched his head in alarm.

Amidst the mountains lay an unimaginably colossal dragon curled on the ground. Even with its head resting against the earth, it towered over the surrounding peaks. From head to tail, it measured more than fifty kilometers.

Under the night sky, five illuminated cities sat upon its left claw, right claw, left shoulder, right shoulder, and back—collectively known as the Great Metropolis of Drasil.

“So, this is the Wood Dragon God,” Nate remarked, sitting casually at the carpet’s edge, gazing at the gargantuan creature—the very definition of a “Giant Dragon.”
