Chapter 75 - 75 75 I Dont Need to Be Hospitalized
Chapter 75: Chapter 75: I Don’t Need to Be Hospitalized! Chapter 75: Chapter 75: I Don’t Need to Be Hospitalized! With the Chinese New Year’s Eve only a few days away, Xinan began to prepare for her confession after she returned home.
But where should she book the restaurant?
She needed to find a restaurant that was particularly memorable!
Xinan thought it over from all angles and eventually decided on a restaurant called “Inside and Beyond.”
Located in the central business district, it was one of the higher-end restaurants in Jing City, with a particularly elegant environment.
Moreover, Xinan had celebrated her eighteenth birthday with Cheng Yi and Jiang Yurou at this restaurant.
She had left beautiful memories there, so now, she wanted to continue the wonderful times with Cheng Yi in the same place.
When Xinan told the waiter about her plan, they smiled and said, “All right, Miss Xinan, we will certainly help you complete this plan perfectly.”
After reserving the restaurant, she was still missing one important thing, and that was the ring.
Having been married to Cheng Yi for so long, she should give him a ring as well.
Thus, Xinan went back to the largest jewelry store in the mall she had visited with Jiang Yurou the day before to choose a ring.
“Hello, miss, are you picking out a ring for your boyfriend?” The salesperson approached with a welcoming smile and asked for her preference.
“Um, can you introduce a few to me?” Xinan responded lightly with a nod.
“Of course, miss. You might want to look at these models, which are the most popular this year and are also limited editions—with only a few in the entire world.”
“Could you take out this one for me to look at?” Xinan pointed at the ring in the middle.
Seeing the ring Xinan pointed to, the salesperson’s smile deepened as they swiftly took it out, “Miss, you have really good taste; this is the treasure of our store.”
“Thank you.” Xinan took the ring and meticulously examined it.
“Miss, this ring is crafted by the world-renowned designer Adelle. The reason for the looped carvings on the back symbolizes that you are the beginning, and you are the end, repeating infinitely,” explained the salesperson in detail.
Adelle was a name Xinan had heard of; she was a nearly fifty-year-old woman who had designed countless diamond rings and enjoyed a prestigious reputation in the industry.
“Please wrap it up for me!” Xinan took out her card and handed the ring to the salesperson.
Hearing Xinan’s words, the salesperson paused; in all their years of service, they had never seen a customer pay so readily.
And considering the ring was the store’s treasure, with a price approaching ten million, the fact that she bought it without even asking the price was astonishing.
“Please wrap the brooch next to it for me, too!” Xinan added.
The salesperson finally snapped back to reality, took the ring and bank card from Xinan’s hand, and began to package them.
After leaving the shop, Xinan checked her bank account balance on her phone; it was nearly depleted, and she couldn’t help but sharply inhale—it seemed she had really gone all out today.
Hopefully, she would get her wish.
Now that the ring was ready, all she had to do was wait for the arrival of New Year’s Eve.
–
On New Year’s Eve, Cheng Yi finally allowed himself to stop and didn’t pour all of his energy into work.
Having been unsure of how to face Xinan for the past few days, Cheng Yi had been deliberately avoiding meeting her, creating an illusion of being very busy.
But actually, since his return to the country, all the big and small affairs in the company had been taken care of and did not require his personal involvement.
Even though he hadn’t been in the office, Cheng Yi still tried his best not to meet with Xinan, so he got up before dawn and went to the study.
At that moment, an international call came through.
It wasn’t until his phone had lit up and locked several times that Cheng Yi answered the call.
“Mr. Yi, your condition is very dangerous right now, we advise you to be hospitalized for treatment immediately,” the caller said in fluent English.
Cheng Yi’s brows furrowed slightly as he said, “I don’t need to be hospitalized.”
This wasn’t the first time he had received this call.
From the moment he knew he was sick, he had never considered staying in the hospital for treatment.
He had a cousin who once suffered from gastric cancer. After the surgery, constant medication and chemotherapy made life unbearable.
In the days before his cousin’s death, Cheng Yi had visited him in the hospital. Due to chemotherapy, his hair had been shaved, and the food he ate was almost entirely vomited out, leaving him gaunt and emaciated.
The torment of the disease and side effects of the medicine had made sleep nearly impossible. Even sleeping pills induced with forced slumber didn’t prevent his body from quivering.
Despite enduring so much, his cousin still didn’t make it through.
This was why Cheng Yi didn’t want to be hospitalized or accept treatment, because he didn’t want to suffer like his cousin until the very end of his life.
He wanted to die swiftly.
“Please follow the medical advice, or the consequences will be unimaginable!” the caller insisted.
Cheng Yi heard the determination in the caller’s voice, but he remained unswayed, “Thank you for your reminder, but I have carefully considered it. I will not be hospitalized. I will take full responsibility for all consequences and won’t cause any trouble for your hospital.”
After speaking, Cheng Yi didn’t give the caller a chance to respond and hung up immediately.
But as soon as he hung up, the phone rang again.
Without looking, Cheng Yi answered and growled, “How many times do I have to say it? Don’t call again!”
However, after he finished, there was no response from the other end, which made Cheng Yi question himself.
Then he heard Jiang Yurou’s voice coming from the phone, “Brother Yi?”
Cheng Yi was stunned for several seconds before he slowly recovered, moved his phone away to check, and the screen indeed showed Jiang Yurou’s name.
Cheng Yi adjusted his tone and replied with a low “hmm.”
“Brother Yi… who were you just talking to?” Jiang Yurou had been quite startled by Cheng Yi’s earlier tone and still hadn’t recovered.
Even though Cheng Yi had spoken in English, Jiang Yurou was fluent in English after many years abroad, so she had understood everything he said clearly.
Jiang Yurou was very curious about who could make Cheng Yi so angry.
Cheng Yi was silent for a few seconds, then said, “Nothing much, a call from a client.”
“Oh…” Jiang Yurou obviously didn’t believe it, but she knew Cheng Yi’s personality well; if there was something he didn’t want to talk about, no matter how much you persisted, he wouldn’t disclose it.
“What do you need by calling?”
Jiang Yurou remembered the real reason for her call, cleared her throat twice to cover her embarrassment, “It’s like this, Tan Bo and I want to invite you and Nannan to have dinner together tonight.”
Only she and Tan Bo would think of inviting people for dinner on New Year’s Eve.
“Nannan has already agreed, now it’s just you left,” Jiang Yurou added.
“Where?”
“At eight o’clock tonight, at Inside and Beyond.”
“Okay, got it.”
What do you think?
