Chapter 181 New X-Men

3rd Person Point of View

A man made his way cloaked into a roped-off section of the core building on Krakoa. Two almost silent gunshots go off as he deals with the paltry guards they left to guard the heart of Krakoa. The island greedily drinking in the blood and bodies of the slain mutants. This go around the island would be fed mutant criminals or just mutants dying from old age. There was still no way for them to come back to life if they died.

The man made his way over to a display case holding the Captain Krakoa suit, he went to break it when he heard a voice come from behind him. “Not so fast ya goofball. I need that for my plans.” The moment he turned towards the voice, gun raised in the air, he was blindsided with a flurry of punches and kicks. All of them came faster than he could handle beating him unconscious in a second and dead in the next.

As the unseen man steps up to the display, his face reflects back allowing it to be seen that it is none other than Pietro Maximoff(Aka Quicksilver). He grabs the gun off the man's dead corpse and takes aim firing and breaking the bulletproof glass. The man's gun was designed to shatter the shatterproof glass for the mission he was sent on.

He easily breaks through and the next moment while the glass is still falling Pietro is already inside the suit and getting used to his newfound power. “Yeah, that’ll do. That’ll do nicely.”

I sipped on my non-alcoholic tea as I looked around the crowds. This was the mutant area of the party. The main human bigwigs were mostly dealt with as I made arrangements to meet and speak with many of them at a later time. They were important enough to waste my time, even the men as they could help me politically in the future and push through ideas for the right price.

Seeing a few people I’d want to talk to but aren’t important enough right now I leave a magical imprint on them to find them again in the future. I’m about to move on and start looking for the plots most likely going on right now but stop myself when I spot someone important enough to talk to right now. I make my way over towards her with a large smile on my face. The smile on her face drops when she spots me.

I poof in a drink as I hand it to her. The table she’s sat at is already full of them, as I sit down she stands up. I just ask. “Well Selene, it seems you know me. I’m just wondering what I’ve done to make you so upset you won't even talk to me.” With a sneer on her face she responds. “Because my eye is instinctively being drawn to you. I’d rather keep complete control of my faculties and being around you seems to cause an issue with that.”

They hadn’t really used her in any of the newer stories but she really only had two versions of her in the comics. Either she was an over millennium-old not-so-evil person, looking out for mutant kind. Or she was a bloodthirsty killer solely focused on gaining power and focused on becoming a god. In either version, she was extremely powerful. She had reached godhood in many stories. I cut my losses, it was clear she wanted nothing to do with me before I gave her a warning. “If you had anything planned for tonight… I wouldn’t.”

She turned towards me but before she made eye contact I had already teleported away, showing I could be a mysterious fuck just like Batman if I wanted to. I kept exploring, looking for something interesting and spotted a large crowd of mutants forming up on the opposite end of the island. I worked my way through the crowd as they chose today to introduce new mutant teams.

Professor X took center stage as I joined in what looked like near the end of the event. Three separate groups, all of which didn’t have any mutants I knew and none were at the standard set for women I’d sleep with. I was about to give up before he drew me back. “And last but not least, we have the new formation of the X-men. As you all know, these are the true elites of our school with many of the faculty and most powerful mutants taking part in this group. We’re proud to announce the new X-men!”

The first up I recognized. “First we have Shark Girl!” She came onto the stage, roared at the crowd, and walked to Charles's side as he continued. “Next, is Lava Boy!” I have to hide a smile as that combination sounds really similar to something else. That being Sharkboy and Lavagirl. He shows off his powers, which is more like creating a hot rock to throw as it strikes the water set up for this and quickly cools down before Charles continues.

The next is… Surge, so I guess she ended up leaving the Marauders, or she’s a spy for them. That’s why I kind of hate the intrigue part of these large groups, you never really know who everyone is working for. It kind of makes me want to just flip the table over and start shooting people. Then Cyclops, which I knew he probably would be even in his weakened form because he was a boot licker.

The next two were a surprise as Armor and Cerebella walked onto the stage. They didn’t go with the Forge is her father but it looks like because the ages don’t match up. He was in his early thirties but she looked like she was eighteen or nineteen. Cerebella also shouldn’t have a body because Krakoa doesn’t work the same way but she somehow does, her exposed brain giving her a distinctive appearance.

The next was more obvious as both Mercury and Dust were both extremely powerful and beautiful. As silly as Charles could be sometimes he knew how to put his best foot forwards in his teams. He smiles like he is about to reveal the biggest secret ever as he says. “And for the returning leadership of the team, we have two people coming back. The first is Bobby Drake, or as most of you will know him as Iceman!” 

He plays it up as Iceman comes gliding over him making an ice ramp as he lands in a tumble before jumping up to a round of cheers and applause. The applause lasts longer than anyone else but Charles raises his hands showing them to calm down before the last person is revealed. “And, for the leader of the New X-men, we have. You all know him and love him. It’s Quicksilver wearing the Captain Krakoa costume!” 

He just appears next to him suddenly, the outfit hiding his face but the speed making it clear who is underneath the suit. The crowd sits in silence for a half second before they burst into outright screaming applause. They’re so loud it puts everyone else's entrance to shame as even I almost want to clap. The cheering was overwhelming and just as I thought it would go on forever Charles signaled for them to quiet down again.

He spoke again in a way that showed he wasn’t done with surprises yet as he signaled. “And, we have a surprise guest and another returner who came back from his mission just in time to join this new team temporarily! Wolverine has come back!” As Wolverine walks through the crowd I get the sense that something is wrong. He makes it to the stage and motions for the mic before I cut him off. “That’s not Wolverine. That’s a robot.”
