Chapter 2502: Lord Against Lord

Chapter 2502: Lord Against Lord

The stronger a cultivator was, the tougher their body would be. Someone of the War Priest’s cultivation would have a head tougher than metal. And yet, the Lord of Slaughter’s claws sliced through it as easily as tofu before crushing it.

The surrounding monsters were horrified. The War Priest was ranked second among the Eighteen Monster Generals, making him one of the top experts of the Monster World. And yet, the Lord of Slaughter had killed him in an instant. Quite a few monsters regretted their decision. They had underestimated the Lord of Slaughter’s strength, and now felt it was unwise to have made such a risky move.

Only Zu An remained calm. Having fought the War Priest in the future, he knew that the latter wouldn’t die that easily.

As expected, the Lord of Slaughter was frowning, but he didn’t stop there. With a casual strike, he smashed the monster commanders beside the War Priest into bloody mist.

The Eighteen Monster Generals reacted fast and quickly escaped while the War Priest was being attacked.

The Lord of Slaughter charged at the Plague Monarch, perhaps due to the latter’s slower speed or the fact that he harbored great hatred toward the latter for poisoning his personal army.

The Plague Monarch could only barely keep the attacks from striking his vitals. A punch struck his shoulder, and he spurted a mouthful of fresh blood. His body crashed into a stone sculpture like a tattered sandbag, causing the sculpture to crumble. He was so weakened that he couldn’t return to his feet despite several attempts to do so. He had temporarily lost his ability to fight.

However, a grayish mist had enveloped the Lord of Slaughter’s hand and was relentlessly creeping upward. The Plague Monarch was one of the Eighteen Monster Generals, after all. His poisons weren't to be scoffed at.

Iron Fist Rock’s eyes lit up at the opportunity.

The Lord of Slaughter had just killed the War Priest and severely wounded the Plague Monarch. Those attacks had to have severely depleted his ki. Furthermore, the Plague Monarch had managed to inflict his poison on him. This was a rare opening.

So, Iron Fist Rock hurled his renowned iron fist forth to strike the Lord of Slaughter’s back. He released a punch so fast that it produced a sonic boom and caused the surroundings to light up with iridescent colors; the light was caused by the intense friction between ki and air.

The Lord of Slaughter harrumphed. With a flick of his fist, he expelled the grayish poison aura out of his body before confronting Iron Fist Rock’s punch head-on.

Boom!

A miserable cry of agony emerged, accompanied by the sound of fracturing bones. Iron Fist Rock anxiously retreated while clutching his right arm. Cold sweat was dripping down his face. His fist was now hanging limply. It looked as if the bones inside had all shattered.

The monsters were horrified. Iron Fist Rock was known throughout many worlds for his iron fist. His punch could even shatter a city into ruins, or break apart a mountain. And yet, he suffered such a tragic loss against the Lord of Slaughter! Those thinking of exploiting the situation dropped those thoughts and determinedly retreated.

This greatly boosted the morale of the Lord of Slaughter’s group, including the Warped Monster. They charged out to battle with the Monster Lord’s subordinates.

While the Lord of Slaughter's group had fewer top experts, these commanders were all elites among the elites. They were far stronger than ordinary monsters. With the formations they had prepared beforehand, they were surprisingly able to match the ten Monster Generals’ army.

The Lord of Slaughter didn’t continue his onslaught, instead eyeing the Monster Lord. He sensed the latter trying to make a move several times, only to hold back because he couldn’t find a good opening to exploit.

“Master, your strength is indeed unparalleled. You killed the War Priest in a single blow and severely wounded the Plague Monarch and Iron Fist Rock,” the Monster Lord said flatteringly, but his eyes reflected fear.

“Hmph, the War Priest wouldn’t die that easily. Are you hiding there in hopes of finding a chance to assault me?” the Lord of Slaughter sneered.

The light at the corner of the hall distorted, and the War Priest slowly reappeared. “I see that it’s impossible to deceive your sharp eyes, master.”

The Lord of Slaughter said in praise, “You survived my all-out attack. You do live up to your reputation as the number two of the Eighteen Monster Generals.”

He could only unleash his full force in his first surprise attack. When he was dealing with the Plague Monarch and Iron Fist Rock afterward, he'd had to keep an eye out for the Monster Lord, lest the latter backstab him. Due to that, the pressure faced by the three Monster Generals was vastly different.

The other Monster Generals shot awed looks at the War Priest. He’s stronger than I expected.

Even the first-rank Shadow Monster King felt wary. This fellow is a threat to me.

“It’s my honor to receive master’s recognition.” The War Priest relished in the other Monster Generals’ admiring eyes, although he felt pained by his loss.

He'd had to use his precious war puppet to survive the ordeal. The puppet was extremely valuable, having strength on par with the main body. Not only was it his second life, it was also a powerful offensive tool. If he brought it out in battle, his enemy would have to simultaneously deal with two of him. Even if the Shadow Monster King was stronger than him, could he be two times stronger?

It was the War Priest's greatest trump card, and he would never have revealed it unless cornered. He hadn’t expected the Lord of Slaughter to destroy it right away. His heart was bleeding, but he had to feign composure as if it was nothing. I’ll have to find another trump card.

Not long ago, he'd found a secret dungeon rumored to contain the legendary Oblivion River Water. He had refrained from entering due to the risks, but it looked as if he had no choice now. Only by refining the Oblivion River Water would he stand a chance against the Shadow Monster King.

The Lord of Slaughter noticed the fear in the War Priest’s eyes and harrumphed. He turned his attention back to the Monster Lord. “Scheme all you want, but you can’t scheme your way out of a fight with me. Ultimately, you still have to speak with your strength.”

The Monster Lord knew that the Lord of Slaughter’s sudden assault had intimidated the ten Monster Generals, so they wouldn’t charge ahead for him anymore. However, he laughed. “You’re too arrogant. Do you think that you’re invincible?”

He suddenly charged at the Lord of Slaughter with speed that was on par with the latter’s earlier surprise attack. Very few people in the hall could see his movements. Flickering red marks revolved in his eyes. With a black aura in his right hand and a green mist in his left, he unleashed his attack upon the empty space right beside the Lord of Slaughter.

Both the Shadow Monster King and the War Priest were startled. Why was he attacking the air? Isn’t he exposing his opening to the Lord of Slaughter?

Only Zu An understood what was going on.

The Lord of Slaughter suddenly vanished in the next moment, only to reappear where the Monster Lord was attacking. It almost looked as if the Lord of Slaughter was running into the latter’s attack!
