Chapter 25: Song
Before going to Caius’ house she made sure to pass by the pharmacy to restock on her anti-pregnancy medicine.
After all, it wasn’t like her previous world, where she could use her abilities to control her own fluids, hormones, and others. Basically, as long as she didn’t want to get knocked-up, she wouldn’t.
In this world, she could really accidentally get pregnant, and that was the last thing she wanted. Not only was it extremely troublesome to go around with a huge belly, her sex life would also be greatly affected!
Speaking of which, her stock ran out way too quickly.
She was definitely having too much sex, especially when she had less than two months until the apocalypse.
But she put aside this issue for now.
She had a wronged professor to please.

Khalifa arrived in Cauis’ bachelor pad half an hour later, entering the new passcode he gave her.
It was yesterday’s date.
Her fingers paused on the number pad, feeling complicated.
Had they entered a formal relationship, yesterday would’ve been their anniversary date.
She pursed her lips and finally pressed the numbers, entering the door with a bit of nerves and a lot of guilt.
She was sitting in the living area, on the seat where he’d immediately see who was entering.
The professor was sitting on his arm chair with a stoic face, his posture was calm and confident, but the atmosphere around him felt lonely.
Khalifa sighed, guilt retching in her gut.
And yet… she still couldn’t see herself changing it.
She lived a hundred years in a certain way, she couldn’t suddenly modify it for one guy.
While he ranked high amongst her men, her feelings for him simply weren’t deep enough to change who she was after one night.
Cauis stared at her and stood up, heading to the kitchen.
"I’ll heat up the food." He said, and she looked down at her shoes, feeling very bad.
She lifted her head to look at the wall clock, realizing it was already time for brunch. "Have you eaten?" She asked, joining him in the kitchen.
"Not yet." He said, tone bland.
"I’m sorry..."
"It’s fine," He said, pausing, giving her a deep look. "I’ll eat all of you later."
She blushed a bit and demurely sat on the table.
Today’s food was very delicious, as always. No, it was even tastier.
Because it was breakfast, it had a lot of whole grain and protein, setting her up for an energetic day.
She particularly liked the pita wrap. Although the Other Her had tasted it once before, she hadn’t, and it was heavenly.
However, as she ate deliciously, she was soon aware of the awkward air around them.
Before, they would chat about their lives as they ate, feeding each other. Now… they only ate in silence and Khalifa had no idea how to deal with it.
Although she had quite a few lovers in the past, the particularly jealous ones never seem to have to deal with each other so directly.
They knew of each other’s existence, but at least they could pretend they didn’t exist.
Of course, none of them ever took it easy on her in bed because of this.
And even if they did, the culture itself—where polyamory was the standard—made their options and handling very open.
She had experienced more than a few orgies in her past life, and a lot of threesomes.
This also had a lot to do with the lax lifestyle of the people there. People had a lot of time, not like now where she and the men had a lot of obligations, limiting time together.
What made it more difficult was that the professor was being so kind to her despite her infidelity. She’d rather that he yelled at her and demanded an explanation.
She sighed, but really couldn’t open a topic herself. The whole time they were silent, and even washing the dishes was a wordless endeavor.
They finished cleaning the kitchen and the dishes, and there were no changes in the atmosphere at all.
Soon, she snapped.
She couldn’t take it anymore!!
She turned to him as soon as the last dish was put away. "Can I livestream?"
Cauis’ eyebrows raised, as if asking what she meant.
"It’s my part time job." She explained, "It earns a lot of money."
Of course, Cauis nodded and gestured to watch her as she did so.
Khalifa gave a small smile and began the preparation work.
She took off her ’disguise’ and arranged her hair, curling it a little. She added a slight makeup to highlight her already gorgeous features, and Cauis felt complicated.
He was very fascinated, but he also really wanted to hide her away.
She just used her phone and set it up in front of the professor’s sofa.
Cauis watched from the side with his arms crossed, partly watching and partly wondering what job he can help her find.
From what he gathered, this was a job that exposed her to many people.
He was more than a bit uncomfortable with so many people seeing her beauty, her charm, her sexiness.
More importantly, he was afraid how it would affect her negatively. He had heard of the harshness of people, especially behind the safety of their screens.
Let alone a job, he would gladly hand over his paycheck to her. That would have been the best, but he doubted she would accept it.
After all, this gesture would tie her to him in a way. And, to his pain, she obviously didn’t want to.
"May I see it on my phone, as well?" He asked her as she set up. She paused and looked at him, pondering, before finally agreeing and set up an account for him.
She was named Mermaid, and he thought it was quite fitting.
Anyway, he settled down on one of the smaller chairs, directly across where she was shooting.
Soon, the livestream began, with Khalifa doing a simple greeting. Cauis couldn’t help but want to read the bullet screen.
[You’re here!]
[Beauty!]
[Marry me mermaid!]
[Received reward from KaizeCantSing: +10 Airplanes]
Cauis frowned at the messages, but his attention was pulled by a smiling beautiful Khalifa.
Especially, when he realized that she was not staring at the camera, but at him.
His eyes separated from the phone and to the real person in front of him. Her eyes were warm and he felt like flying.
He didn’t know what she was going to do, but at least at the moment…,
He felt that she was only his, and no one else’s.
What do you think?
