Chapter 153: 153 Necklace

Chapter 153: Chapter 153 Necklace

After a couple of sizzles, Kate released Adrian’s neck with a chuckle, and as soon as she got in the car, she gave him a passionate kiss, completely oblivious to the many students emerging from the academy not far ahead.

“You’re so enthusiastic, it seems your mood is quite good,” Adrian said teasingly, touching his lips.

“Of course, the academy just officially started the holiday, and I got all A’s!” Kate seemed very happy.

“Really all A’s?” Adrian feigned a surprised expression.

“A- is also an A,” Kate lifted her chin somewhat proudly and humphed, “At least better than you.”

“Yeah, yeah, when I was in university, B- was already the best grade I could get,” Adrian sighed longly, his tone filled with resignation and gloom. Kate was taken aback, about to offer some comfort, when he quickly showed a teasing smile: “So now I am the boss, and you are just my girlfriend.”

...

Kate said nothing, but raised her little fist and heavily thumped his shoulder.

“Ouch!” Adrian exaggeratedly gasped for air, about to continue his teasing, when the displeased Kate immediately swung her fist again, and he quickly stopped, raising his hands, “Okay, okay, I was just joking.”

Kate snorted lightly and lowered her hand, and Adrian immediately wrapped his arms around her shoulder, laughing and leaning over to kiss her cheek, “Alright, to celebrate… um… the academy finally being on holiday and you getting all A’s, let’s take a stroll on Rodeo Drive, have dinner, then watch a movie to see your brilliant performance in ‘Howards End’, and then head home. How does that sound?”

“No problem, I’m all ears,” Kate rolled her eyes but her tone was filled with joy.

After shopping, eating, and watching a movie, they relaxed well and didn’t return to their villa until it was past ten in the evening. They teased each other in the living room for a while, and then went to the bedroom amid giggles.

“I still can’t believe, the theater not only had less than half people, but after it ended, they actually said the movie was boring. I really wanted to go up and ask, where was the movie boring,” Kate, half mocking and half complaining, said as she prepared herself in front of the dressing table in her pajamas.

“It’s quite normal, for most people, the movie is indeed very dull, if they are not fans of that style, it’s hard to sit through,” Adrian, with his hands behind his head sitting on the bed, looked at Kate cheerily, took off his jacket, the collar opened, tie hanging lopsided on his neck, emanating a carefree charm.

“But I heard the box office was pretty good, wasn’t it?” Kate turned, “Those newspapers even praised you… saying that any movie from you, even an art drama, could make high box office earnings.”

“That was just an accident,” Adrian waved his hand, “‘Howards End’ making money was mainly because of its accumulated popularity and the doubts and criticism from British media in the earlier part of the year, coupled with ‘Pulp Fiction’s’ unexpected Palme d’Or win, piqued public curiosity. If you had noticed other newspapers, you would know that many movie fans were already disappointed; a lot of them left midway during the screening, and there were those who said I was earning money by exploiting my credibility.”

“So…” Kate thought for a moment and gestured.

Although she didn’t articulate, Adrian understood her implication and nodded immediately, “They’re right, it is indeed overdrafting. But don’t worry, because, whenever I want, I can make a movie and earn back the overdrafted part.”

Seeing his confident expression, Kate couldn’t help but want to tease him a few times, but thinking about Adrian’s various achievements, she was at a loss for what to say. However, she quickly thought of another topic, looking at him and chuckling softly, “You know, Ed, I just thought, if those complaining fans had recognized you then, what would their reaction be? Would they come up and grab you by the neck to question you?”

“Who knows? Maybe they would pull out a knife and hold it to my chest, demanding I change the movie to their liking,” Adrian shrugged his shoulders, suddenly leaped from the bed, walked to the wardrobe in a few steps, and took out a delicately ornate square box wrapped in pink paper from the drawer.

“I have something for you, Kate,” he shook the box in his hand, addressing his girlfriend, “It was only when I was at The Godfather’s house for Thanksgiving that I remembered, my dear girlfriend is still missing something, which really shouldn’t be the case. Unfortunately, it was at The Godfather’s, so I had to make up for it now.”

“What is it?” Kate took it, showing a curious expression.

“Open it and see,” Adrian chuckled and shrugged.

Kate promptly tore it open, inside was a very plain big red box that looked somewhat like… a jewelry box? She couldn’t help but look up at Adrian, who gestured for her to continue.

Although she was mentally prepared, upon seeing the contents of the box, Kate still couldn’t help but gasp softly. It was a necklace, with three thin chains each curving into an arch, adorned with tiny sparkling diamonds under the light of the dressing table, exuding an indescribable charm.

“Is this… for me?” Kate inhaled deeply, her voice trembling slightly.

“Of course, who else is here?” Adrian laughed, coming over to her, taking the necklace out of the box, “Try it on, I visited several jewelry shops to find this, I believe it will look absolutely beautiful on your neck.”

“But… but…” Kate hesitated as she looked at the necklace in Adrian’s hand.

“Don’t refuse me, Kate,” Adrian leaned in from behind and wrapped his arms around Kate, holding her hand and whispering in her ear, “It’s beautiful, it suits you perfectly, doesn’t it?”

As he spoke, he unclasped the necklace and placed it around Kate’s neck. Kate didn’t speak further but simply gazed at herself in the mirror, admiring the beautiful diamond necklace now adorning her neck.

“Look, Kate, what did I tell you? It matches you perfectly!” Adrian exclaimed with admiration, looking at the girl in the mirror who, despite wearing pajamas, looked exceptionally beautiful due to the necklace on her neck.

Unconsciously, Kate cradled her slightly feverish cheeks; her heart was pounding.

“Should I say thank you?” she asked softly.

“Of course not, you should say, ‘I’m the most beautiful,'” Adrian suggested, gently stroking her chin and neck.

Kate chuckled lightly, then caught the hand caressing her, kissed it gently in the palm, and her lips curved into a smile of pure happiness.

“Hmm, let me think, with that purple strapless gown, the necklace will match even more beautifully,” Adrian suddenly said after pondering.

“By then?” Kate immediately raised her head, looking at Adrian with great interest and a bit playful, “What are you up to now, Ed?”

“It’s nothing mischievous, my dear,” Adrian shook his head, bent down to kiss her lips, “There’s an important premiere before Christmas that I must attend, so naturally, I need to take you with me.”

“Ah, another premiere.” Kate moaned but her tone was devoid of any complaints and clearly teasing; she was obviously joking but also felt a bit thrilled.

Adrian didn’t respond but deepened their kiss, as Kate tilted her head back and wrapped her arms around his neck, responding passionately. As the sounds of their kisses filled the air, Adrian’s hands slid down from her neck to her chest.

But at that moment, Kate suddenly pushed Adrian away and stood up, her cheeks flushed, leaning against the vanity with an apologetic and embarrassed expression.

“What’s wrong?” Adrian asked gently, “Is something not right?”

“Sorry, Ed, I…” Kate began awkwardly, “It’s just that… my period started…”

Adrian paused, then quickly understood, showing an expression of both amusement and slight frustration. Although he felt a bit down that Kate mentioned it only now, he still smiled and shrugged, “No worries, then let’s just sleep cuddled up tonight; it’s not like we haven’t done that before.”

Then his expression turned contemplative, “No wonder you’ve been so moody these past few days.”

“Ed!” Kate called out reproachfully.

“Look, there it is again,” Adrian pointed out teasingly, laughing as he saw Kate raise her fist and then walked towards the bathroom, “Alright, alright, I’ll take a shower then rest.”

“Ed.” Kate suddenly called out to him again, her voice now tender.

“Mmm?” Adrian turned around.

Kate still leaned against the vanity, her blushing face suddenly turning seductive, and her brown eyes becoming somewhat watery.

“If you really want, I could…” she cooed, her index finger to her lips, sticking out her little tongue to lick it, then popping it back into her mouth to suck.

This incredibly provocative gesture made Adrian take a deep breath, as frankly, Kate had successfully aroused his desire. Despite this, he subdued his impulses, walked back to Kate, cupped her face, and pressed his forehead against hers, “It’s okay, let’s just have a quiet night’s rest. It can be very uncomfortable when you have your period.”

Saying so, he kissed her lips and turned to walk into the bathroom. Kate watched as Adrian entered before she withdrew her gaze, turned to her own reflection in the mirror, and smiled faintly. She took off the necklace still around her neck, toyed with it in her hands for a moment, then placed it back into the box, climbed into bed, and snuggled under the covers. Listening to the shower sounds from the bathroom door that remained ajar, she closed her eyes. (To be continued, to find out what happens next, please visit www.qidian.com.
