Chapter 29 - 29 29 Castle
Chapter 29: Chapter 29 Castle Chapter 29: Chapter 29 Castle “Stop! How dare you act out in front of His Majesty?” A storm giant stood beside the mountain giant and swung his double-handed sword, chopping the wooden stick held by the Mountain Giant in half.
“I…” The Mountain Giant, who was getting redder in the face from anger, threw away the half of the wooden stick left in his hand, knelt in front of Muria and said: “Your Majesty, I mean no disrespect.”
“But,” The mountain giant lifted his head, looking fiercely at the cloud giant leader who had just made a mockery of him: “I cannot tolerate his disdain for our mountain giants.”
“I did not disdain your mountain giants.” The cloud giant leader snorted: “I was just telling the truth. You, the mountain giants, possess the power of earth elementals, can condense hard rocks and can quickly build caves, but do you know how to build a castle? Moreover, a grand castle befitting the status of Prince Mureya.”
“…” The mountain giant paused, then lowered his head in shame, not saying another word.
“Alright, Dicks, say no more.” Mureya stopped Dicks, the Cloud Giant Leader who wanted to continue, “The respect the Mountain Giants have for me is plain for all to see. They just want to serve me.”
“It is not necessary for you to argue about who will build the castle. All giants must participate in the construction of Taiji Island.” Muria stood up and announced his decision after thinking about it for a while.
“The storm giants have the fewest numbers but are the strongest, so you will be responsible for surveying the island’s terrain, measuring its area and counting the number of giants for me. Until now, I am still not sure how many giants are following me.
“As for you, cloud giants, give me a design layout for a grand castle, then come up with a scheme to build a city around the castle, remember to prepare several options.”
Then the Tidal Giants, go to the endless ocean to search for the treasures of the sea for me. I need them to decorate my castle. My castle cannot be too shabby.”
Muria looked at the three sullenly-faced, tan mountain giants representing their race at the meeting, “Finally, you, Mountain Giants, the castle where I live cannot be as luxurious as my mother’s, built from magic crystals, so I need a large amount of building material, enough to build a city of giants. This must be provided by you. Can you do it?”
“Absolutely, Prince Mureya.”
“We, the Mountain Giants, guarantee it.”
“We will certainly do this well.”
The look of sorrow on the faces of the three Mountain Giants disappeared instantly, replaced with high spirits. They assured Muria with pats on their chests. Condensing stone is a natural talent they were born with.
“Don’t be in a hurry to make promises. What I need is not average stone. The stone I require not only has to be hard, but its color must be as white as the clouds in the sky, pure and flawless. Can you condense such a stone?”
The three mountain giants glanced at each other, then one of them stepped forward under the gaze of the other giants. He raised his hands, and yellow dots of light appeared in the air, flowing towards his hands. Then, a large brick appeared out of thin air, quickly taking form.
However, Muria frowned when he saw the four-meter-long, two-meter-wide, one-meter-high brick because of its dull-yellow color. But he quickly relaxed when the color of the dull-looking stone started to fade rapidly, until it became as white as the clouds in the sky, without a single blemish, just as he had described.
“Your Majesty Muria.” The Mountain Giant raised the white brick with both hands and gave it to Mureya. Mureya scrutinized it, then exerted some strength on his palm. The stone brick remained unchanged, without any cracks appearing. He should be able to crush a normal rock with his current strength.
“Hard texture, fine stone, crystal clear, very good.” Mureya nodded in approval for the stone formed using the Mountain Giant’s natural ability. He was very satisfied. After some hesitation, he said, “This stone will be named: White Jade Stone.”
Muria initially wanted to say another name that was very similar to the stone in his hand in his past life – a pure white marble. But he gave up because the word “Han” had no meaning in Elasia.
“Thank you for the name, Your Majesty. Starting today, we, the Mountain Giants, will begin to produce White Jade Stone for you.” The three Mountain Giants were delighted with Mureya’s words. They left Muria in high spirits, ready to instruct all Mountain Giants to start making White Jade Stone.
Afterward, all the Giant leaders and representatives began to ask for leave, prepared to lead their people to start on the tasks assigned by Muria, aiming to finish them as soon as possible.
Muria nodded, watching as all the cloud giant leaders and giant representatives left. They mobilized their people overnight, ready to start their tasks immediately.
“Racial discrimination, huh!” Muria rubbed his forehead, further agitation growing. Currently, the four types of Giants under his command all belong to the giant race, a humanoid creature with a huge body. But besides this common trait, their powers, knowledge, and even racial habits vary greatly, resulting in a vast difference between different Giants.
In terms of civilization, the Storm Giants and the Cloud Giants possess the highest level of cultural development. They have mastered the basic knowledge required for civilization such as forging and constructing. They even have the leisure to study arts -Muria had seen many Storm and Cloud Giants carry musical instruments with them.
As for the Mountain Giants, although they are very powerful with their usual strength reaching the gold third level after adulthood, a few elites can even advance to the gold fourth level, their level of civilization is pitiful. They inhabit a primitive stage of civilization, just making ends meet due to their physical strength. That’s about it.
As for the Tidal Giants, they are just a bit better off than the Mountain Giants, but not by much. Strictly speaking, the Mountain Giants and Tidal Giants have not developed civilization at all. To be harsh, they are not much different from the golden-class monsters on the island.
Due to such a wide difference in culture, the Cloud Giants, whose average strength is only at the golden first tier, naturally feel a complex emotion of envy and disdain towards the barbaric Mountain Giants and Tidal GIants whose average strength is above the golden third tier…
The Storm Giants, who mastered the elements of air, moved swiftly. They traversed the entire Taiji Island in a single night, roughly measuring the terrain and area of the island.
By the time the sun had risen, they presented a meticulously crafted sand table of Taiji Island to Prince Muria.
“The island covers an area of thirty six thousand five hundred and seventy-eight square kilometers.” Muria read the number aloud, pointing at the sand table before him. He looked incredulously at the several colored Storm Giants before him. “Is this the result of your overnight work?”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
“Can you guarantee absolute accuracy?”
“If there is any error, we are willing to wash our low-level mistakes with our blood.” A stern-faced storm giant with emerald skin stepped forward to answer.
“There’s no need for that, I believe you.” Muria tugged at the corner of his mouth. At this point, how could he continue to question the accuracy of the data and the sand table?
Muria was merely shocked at the speed at which the Storm Giants had completed the measurements in one night. In his previous life, such a task would have been impossible, no matter what.
But here in Elasia, a world teeming with gods and demons, a job that would have required significant resources and time in his former life could be completed by a set of giants in one single night.
“Over thirty thousand square kilometers. I think the island that my mother lives on is only around fifteen hundred square kilometers. My Taiji Island is about twenty times the size of her island,” Muria calculated and beamed delightedly. This could be considered as one place where he had surpassed his mother.
“Hm, my island seems pretty nice!” Muria bent his head over to closely examine the sand table sculpted by the Storm Giants. It was like a miniature island that had been scaled down countless times, each grass and tree clearly visible on it.
Through this sand table, the terrain and appearance of Taiji Island were all revealed to Muria. The island’s terrain was exceptionally smooth, almost devoid of mountains, save for some low, scattered hills here and there.
Just like the other islands in the Titan Sea Territory, Taiji Island had towering ancient trees and was vibrant with life. To build a castle or even a city, Muria knew he would have to carry out a large-scale deforestation operation, clearing large swathes of land.
“By the way, you are about to start counting the number of giants on the island, aren’t you?” Muria lifted his head to look at the few Storm Giants, continuing after their nodding confirmation.
“Though I’ve mentioned this once, I would like to reiterate. Regarding the indigenous creatures on the island, it is best if you could tame them and make them our allies.
If that’s not possible, then resort to driving them away, but don’t harm their lives. Unless there is absolutely no alternative and your life is in danger, you may have to choose the worst case scenario, which is to kill them.
While you are counting the number of giants, remember to pass my orders on to every single giant.”
Muria hesitated slightly before finishing his instructions, then looked at the group of Storm Giants.
“Your Majesty, you are the most merciful ruler I’ve ever seen,” commented a Storm Giant after listening to Muria’s words.
“Merciful? Hmm,” Muria chuckled, neither confirming nor denying the Storm Giant’s compliment. “Go ahead and propagate my orders.”
Not long after the Storm Giants left, Muria, along with several dragons, was stopped by a group of Cloud Giant leaders while strolling around the island.
“Have you finished the castle design plan?” Muria asked, surprised as he looked at the group of uniformly fifteen-meter-tall Cloud Giant leaders.
The eighteen Cloud Giant leaders answered Muria’s question through action; each of them took out a miniature castle model and design blueprints for Muria to scrutinize and inspect.
“You are indeed quick!” praised Muria. The castle models in the Cloud Giants’ possession were miniaturized versions of the projected castle, allowing Muria to have a more intuitive view of the design plans.
Muria’s gaze skipped over most of the design plans, eventually resting on two castle models.
The castle models ignored by Muria were not in any way unattractive. In fact, all of them conformed to Muria’s aesthetic standards, but they were slightly irregular and asymmetrical compared to the two castle models that Muria had set his eyes on.
The castle models that Muria chose were symmetrical on the right and left sides, no matter how you looked at them. He had an especial fondness for their symmetry.
What do you think?
