Chapter 608 - 608 Are You Scared?_1

Chapter 608: Chapter 608 Are You Scared?_1

“Here.”

Itai Huntington pushed open the door, walked to her seat, and pursed her lips, “This Jade Buddha is made of jade from the Tang Dynasty. I had it appraised, it’s worth at least a hundred million.”

She walked to the desk, next to the Jade Buddha, and gently reached out to touch it.

“You’ve helped me before, now I’m giving it to you.”

“Wait!”

Julius Reed suddenly shouted, startling Itai Huntington into standing still, afraid to move an inch.

“What’s wrong…” she asked motionlessly, “Is there a bomb?”

Subconsciously, she thought she might have stepped on a bomb.@@novelbin@@

That’s how TV dramas always portray it.

“It’s fine.”

Julius Reed approached the Jade Buddha and gently sniffed it.

“This Jade Buddha, it was sent by your enemy, wasn’t it?”

“You scared me to death!” Itai Huntington, reassured that there was no danger, patted her chest and said, “I have a weak heart, if something happens, it’s on you.”

After speaking, she suddenly realized, “How did you know that this Jade Buddha was sent by an enemy?”

“You only need to say yes, or no.”

Julius Reed stood with his hands clasped behind him, gently caressing the surface of the Jade Buddha.

A sudden chill passed through clearly.

“Fabian Percival sent someone with it this morning, I had it authenticated, it’s genuine.”

Itai Huntington was very curious, could he identify its provenance just by looking at it?

“Who has touched it?”

Julius Reed’s hand kept gliding over the Jade Buddha as he spoke.

“The appraiser and my office secretary. I…”

“You haven’t touched it,” Julius Reed interrupted Itai Huntington, “I know.”

“How do you know!”

Itai Huntington felt a bit surprised. Could it be that this freak had installed cameras in her office?

She quickly looked around but found nothing.

The room was very clean, or rather, the cameras were well hidden.

“Don’t think too much, I’m not interested in you. I concluded you hadn’t touched it because you’re still alive.” After saying this, Julius Reed grabbed the Jade Buddha with one hand and threw it out of the window!

Crash!

As the sound of shattering came, the Jade Buddha smashed the glass and fell to the ground, shattering into pieces.

“Are you crazy!”

Itai Huntington said somewhat angrily, “If you didn’t want it, that’s fine, but why throw it away!”

But then, she sensed something was amiss.

Julius Reed’s words just now?

“Boss…”

Just then, the director of her HR department ran over in a panic.

“Nico, you came at the right time. Where is Galileo Leopold? Get him to come here,” Itai Huntington ordered.

Galileo Leopold was her office secretary, responsible for delivering documents and cleaning the entire office.

But now, the trash bin under the desk hadn’t been emptied.

Such a basic mistake, Galileo Leopold couldn’t possibly make.

“Boss, I came to tell you about this.”

Nico Weatherby said breathlessly, “Galileo Leopold is dead, bleeding from all orifices in the bathroom, you… you should go see…”

Her face was pale, her hand continually on the door, clearly in shock.

“What!”

Itai Huntington felt her head buzzing, nearly collapsing to the ground.

“Galileo Leopold was always at the company, how could he suddenly die! He was fine this morning, have you figured out the cause?”

She felt everything was too unreal, but then she suddenly remembered what Julius Reed had said.

“Wait!”

Itai Huntington took out her phone and called the expert who had appraised the Jade Buddha that morning.

“Who are you looking for?”

A man’s voice came from the phone, but it wasn’t the person she was looking for.

“I’m looking for Darius Clark, Professor Clark!”

Itai Huntington suddenly had a bad premonition.

“I’m a colleague of old Clark, he passed away half an hour ago. Everyone is dealing with the aftermath right now, you should contact his family in the future.”

After saying this, the call was hastily ended.

Boom!

In an instant.

Itai Huntington felt as if she had been struck by lightning!

Her mind was empty, save for the words Julius Reed had just spoken.

Clatter!

Even her cellphone fell to the ground.

Smashing to pieces.

“Boss!”

Nico Weatherby’s eyes widened as she hurriedly supported Itai Huntington, “Quick! The boss has fainted! Call for help!”

Her shout immediately brought a flood of people into the hallway.

“No need to panic, she’s just scared.”

Julius Reed extended a hand, halting the flurry of confused actions of those around him.

“You are…?”

“This is our boss’s friend. Since he said it’s nothing serious, let’s just watch.”

Everyone at Five-state International, especially the security guards, recognized Julius Reed.

The word outside was that he was their boss’s lover.

They had to be careful not to offend him unintentionally.

Or they might lose their jobs.

“Professor Clark… Professor Clark is dead…”

About three minutes later, Itai Huntington opened her eyes, looking at Julius Reed with some fear.

“Do you feel dizzy and weak?”

Julius Reed looked at her, asking indifferently.

“Yes.”

Itai Huntington nodded, feeling all her strength drain away.

“Is your mouth dry and your tongue parched, and is your heartbeat speeding up?”

Itai Huntington continued to nod.

Her heart was beating faster and faster.

“Are you feeling hot all over and starting to break out in a cold sweat?”

“Do your hands and feet feel cold, and are you feeling nauseous and wanting to vomit?”

Julius Reed questioned in succession, and Itai Huntington followed with nods.

Eventually, she cried out with a ‘wah’ sound.

“Julius Reed, am I going to die… But I still have so many things undone, I’ve never been with a man.”

“All of you, leave.”

With a wave of his hand, Julius Reed sent the security guards and the secretary away, knowing what to do; they left and closed the door behind them.

“Until my death, I remain untouched. Yet I bear so much infamy, Gonzalez City claims I’m loose, on what grounds?”

“I was driven out of my family, my mother’s corpse is still cold, just as things seemed to be turning around, and now I might die too.”

“Julius Reed, you bastard! Did you know? You were the first man I truly liked. Ever since you appeared, I’ve had feelings for you.”

“You’re just a live-in son-in-law, so what are you so proud of? How am I not good enough for you? Countless men desire me, yet you reject me!”

“Damn men! I’ve been annoyed with you for so long, always strutting around; what are you so proud of? Don’t you think I have a temper!”

Itai Huntington lay on the couch in the office, her makeup smeared from crying.

“Why, why is fate so unfair to me?”

The more she cried, the more scared she became, and the more distress she felt inside.

“Done yelling?”

Julius Reed asked, his tone indifferent.

“No, you son of a bitch! Even as a ghost, I will not let you go, remember that. Whenever you sleep with another woman, my ghost will be watching.”

Itai Huntington’s crying grew fiercer as she cursed through her sobs.

“I’m dying, can’t you let me have this final rant?”

She felt so wronged.

“Why would you die?”

Julius Reed asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Haven’t I been poisoned?”

Itai Huntington sobbed even harder, “Galileo Leopold is dead, Darius Clark is dead, the jade Buddha has always been in my office, I must have been poisoned…”

As she said this, she suddenly froze, then her eyes widened as she looked at Julius Reed and burst out laughing, “Heavenly Dao circles back; not even the heavens spare anyone. You touched it just now too; if I’m to die, we’ll die together.”

“So ridiculous!”

Julius Reed frowned, “You’re not poisoned, you got scared!”
