Chapter 616: Chapter 616: Three Invitations and Three Refusals_1
After leaving Knox Ridge’s home, Julius Reed took Quella Radcliffe and got into the Rolls-Royce.
“I’m sorry, every time we return, I make you suffer.”
Quella Radcliffe’s hands clung tightly to the seat belt, with tears reddening her eyes.
She knew Julius Reed’s temper well, had anyone else dared to be so insolent, they’d likely be lying dead on the spot.
The only reason Knox Ridge and the others could be so presumptuous was that Julius Reed was tolerating it.
And yet, they were clueless.
“It’s okay, but I suddenly realized…”
Julius Reed gently held Quella Radcliffe’s hand, smiling as he said, “Wife, you’re getting sneaky, huh!”
Just now in the room, the statement Quella Radcliffe suddenly threw at Cooper Ridge was clearly a trap.
It seemed like an unintentional revelation of Julius Reed’s identity, but it was actually a pre-dug pit, waiting for Cooper Ridge to jump in.
What exactly was Quella Radcliffe’s relationship with Itai Huntington? Quella Radcliffe was naturally clear on that.
Just imagine, what would be the fate of anyone who dared to target her at Five-state International?
“I learned from the best!”
Quella Radcliffe shot him a glance.
“Master, I’m hungry, that seafood of yours…”
Cosmo suddenly popped his head out from the backseat, looking at the bag of seafood inside the car with teary eyes.
“I almost forgot if you hadn’t said anything, it’s probably all cold now.”
Julius Reed sighed when he saw the seafood that was nearly chilled through, “Well, lucky you.”
The things bought for his wife always experienced complications.
Having said that, he shifted gears and drove home.
No sooner had the car gotten halfway than Quella Radcliffe received a call from her mother.
“Quella Radcliffe, hurry up and bring Julius Reed back! Cooper Ridge feels very sorry about what happened this afternoon, and he’s now planning to invite you two out for dinner.”
Knox Ridge’s urgent voice came through the phone, slightly excited, “They’ve already lowered their heads, so don’t be pretentious! Hurry up and come, we need to have a good chat, we’ll go to your grandma’s house for the New Year.”
“Understood.”
Quella Radcliffe responded indifferently before hanging up promptly.
Three seconds later, the phone rang again.
“You little rascal! Was it Julius Reed, that damned guy, who told you to hang upon me?”
Knox Ridge’s voice roared through the phone.
This made Julius Reed driving feel utterly helpless as he was focused on driving and hadn’t uttered a word.@@novelbin@@
It was just like the saying goes.
Sitting in the car, trouble comes from the sky.
“Stop talking! I need to listen to see if Julius Reed is spouting nonsense in the car.”
Five seconds later, after confirming that the car was silent, Knox Ridge’s anger subsided slightly, “The place is at Treasure Hotel, in the Ziqi Donglai room. You must come, hear me?”
Worried that Quella Radcliffe might ignore her words, she repeated, “Do you know who Damien Leopold is? It’s rare for him to lower his dignity and invite you for dinner, so don’t put on airs! Especially Julius Reed, you must come!”
“Sorry, tell Cooper Ridge to personally call and beg me; otherwise, I won’t go!”
Julius Reed snatched the phone and hung up immediately after speaking.
Not giving Knox Ridge any time to react.
“Is this really okay?”
Quella Radcliffe asked, somewhat curious.
The relationship between Julius Reed and Knox Ridge was already strained, and with such an act, wasn’t it cutting off the possibility of reconciliation?
Also, Cooper Ridge’s act of conceding was surely a scam.
They could use this opportunity to sort out Cooper Ridge’s family.
Even though they were relatives, Quella Radridge had long found them unbearable.
Snobbish lot.
“Don’t worry, since it’s Cooper Ridge who’s setting the trap, they will definitely want us to go. Why not collect some interest first.”
Julius Reed turned the car and headed towards Treasure Wine House.
He was the main character after all; if he didn’t show up, how could the play go on?
“My mom is calling again.”
Quella Radcliffe laughed helplessly, holding the vibrating phone in her hand.
“Just reject the call!”
Julius Reed dismissed the call and looked at Quella Radcliffe, “How about we make a bet? In less than five minutes, Cooper Ridge will definitely call.”
“What’s the bet?”
Quella Radcliffe raised an eyebrow, asking with interest.
Together, she had immense trust in Julius Reed, and even in betting, she would intentionally lose.
“If Cooper Ridge calls within three minutes, you let me sleep on the bed tonight.”
Julius Reed’s face turned instantly red.
Pfft!
Quella Radcliffe burst into laughter and then said teasingly with a smirk, “Do you want me to serve you in bed?”
“Hey! I’m still back here!”
Cosmo sighed helplessly, “Looks like I’ll have to eat this seafood mixed with dog food!”
Her antics actually lessened the awkwardness for Julius Reed.
Sure enough, in less than two minutes, Quella’s phone rang again.
The caller was Cooper Ridge.
“To answer or not to answer?”
“Answer, and put it on speaker.”
While driving, Julius directed Quella.
“Quella, I’m at…”
“This is Julius Reed. Quella got out to buy something, left her phone in the car. If you have something to say, talk to me.”
Julius cut him off directly and spoke.
“Julius Reed, I’m hosting a banquet at Treasure Wine House to offer you an apology. Come over before six o’clock!”
Cooper Ridge commanded in an imperious tone, devoid of any real intention to apologize.
His manner of speaking was downright dictatorial.
“Sorry, I don’t accept.”
After saying that, Julius hung up the phone again.
“Doing this … is it really okay?”
Quella was caught between laughter and tears.
Brody Cook invited Zhuge Liang by visiting his cottage three times.
Now after three calls, Julius didn’t show any intention to go at all.
“What if Cooper Ridge gets angry? Won’t we miss an opportunity?”
Quella blinked, “What if we just go over there directly?”
“I had no idea you were so keen on seeing him down on his luck.”
Julius chuckled lightly and drove the car into the parking lot of the Treasure Hotel.
It was still half an hour until six o’clock.
“Of course, you are my husband,” Quella nudged him gently with her elbow. “We’re in this together, right?”
She had barely finished speaking when Cooper Ridge’s call came in again.
“What now!”
After sliding to answer, Julius said irritably.
“Julius Reed, hasn’t Quella come back?”
Cooper Ridge was so angry he wanted to curse. Where had Quella gone?
She still hadn’t got back into the car.
“Speak up if you have something to say, let it out if you have to fart! I’m driving, it’s dangerous to talk on the phone.”
Julius shot back directly.
“Well, I was wrong in my tone earlier. But now, I truly want to apologize to you, to ease the tensions between us.”
Cooper Ridge suppressed his rage and said with utmost sincerity on the phone, “Plus, aunt and uncle are all here. We’re only missing the two of you.”
“I’ll consider it.”
Julius fell silent for a moment.
“Big brother, could you do me this favor? I’m asking you. I was the one at fault before.”
Cooper Ridge, hating Julius to the core, still had to speak in a conciliatory tone.
But the thought of Julius’s misfortune to come made him extremely happy.
“Alright, I’m already downstairs and will be up shortly.”
Julius got out of the car and locked the doors.
“Are you playing me?”
Cooper Ridge was startled at first and then somewhat angry.
“Then I’m leaving.”
“Wait, it was just a joke. Dominick, don’t forget!”
After finishing their conversation, Julius flipped through his contacts list and made a call.
“Itai Huntington, I’m inviting you to dinner tonight. Treasure Hotel, Dominick. Don’t ask why, time waits for no one.”
After speaking, he gestured to Quella, and the two walked side by side into the hotel.
