Chapter 117 Chronos
Zesten stepped out of the portal, finding himself not in an isolated space, but in front of a group.
On one side stood a woman who appeared to be a completely ordinary person, without any discernible aura around her. Still, he felt a suffocating sensation when he looked at her.
He didn't recognize the woman, but if anyone else from the Academy were present, they would have instantly recognized her as the Dean of the Academy itself.
On Zesten's other side, there was a man wearing what looked like a white military uniform, with multiple stars on his chest.
Zesten had never left the Land of Fables, so he hadn't met the Academy's Professors. However, his father had described the professors as beings who could kill him with a single movement of their fingers.
The people in front of him felt even more imposing, to the point his body even refused to move before them. They were even more frightening than a Professor of the Dimensional Academy could ever hope to be.
Zesten's mind was telling him only one thing. He had to run away if he didn't want to die. But his body refused to move even an inch. The portal behind him had already closed, with no way to return where he came from.
He was also in a closed space that looked like it was inside some battleship that was traveling through a black hole.
The man in the white uniform frowned, looking at Zesten that had appeared out of nowhere in the middle of their battleship, right when they had begun an important meeting.
He could see that the one appearing before him was not a human. It wasn't even a living existence, but a mere fable. What surprised him, however, was the fact that this fable had appeared inside the Chronos Battleship.
Even though the ship didn't have any Defences on since no one was foolish enough to attack the ship of Chronos, still it wasn't something that a mere fable could achieve with his own strength.
Zesten knew that he couldn't escape alive. At best, he was going to be imprisoned once more. At worst, he was going to be killed. He had to escape from this place at any cost. And there was only one way to escape that he could see.
He saw a young girl, who was only twelve or thirteen years old, standing not far from the man in the uniform. He didn't know who that girl was, but her facial features matched with the man. And if she was here, he didn't think she was insignificant.
If she was important enough, then she was her ticket to survival in his eyes. As long as he could take her hostage, he could negotiate his escape. The only problem was that his body refused to listen to him.
He bit his tongue as hard as he could, trying to bring his body out of shock. At the same time, he put all his willpower into moving, as he ran towards the little girl as fast as he could.
He wanted to get to her before the man could even react, as the distance wasn't too high. However, what surprised him was that the man simply gazed at him, not even trying to move.
The man's pupils followed him, as if he had all the time in the world. Even his speed couldn't lose the man's observation.
Still, since Zesten had already put the plan in motion, he couldn't stop anymore. He soon reached the little girl and reached out his hand to grab her by her throat.
The girl raised her head, looking at the man with her silver pupils. Zesten suddenly felt a sharp pain throughout his entire body.
The moment that girl looked at him, everything had ended. His life force was destroyed from the core, as he fell on his knees. With a single thought, without even raising a finger, the girl barely twelve years old had killed him.
His mind, his heart, his body, everything died in that one instant as he fell on the ground. Soon, his body started disintegrating into nothingness, leaving not even a single trace of his existence behind.
The girl lowered her head again, not reacting much to the fact that she had just been attacked by a man that appeared out of thin air.
"Your daughter is quite good," Freya told the man in the uniform, as she observed the child with great interest. "Why don't you send her to the Academy?"
The man calmly answered, "Chronos does not need help in training one of ours. You should worry more about your own. Your results in recent years have been... disappointing."
Freya didn't respond. Even she knew that the man wasn't lying. In recent years, the results that she had managed to produce had been no less than disappointing even for herself.
Still, it didn't feel pleasant coming from someone from Chronos. If she was back in her office, she would have already broken some tables in her anger, but she didn't want to show any such behaviour before others.
"From disappointment, I just remembered. How is your eldest son doing?" After a brief period of silence, she suddenly asked. "Did he come out of his coma?"
For the first time, the man who had been calm throughout this time, reacted somewhat sharply as his pupils trembled.
He swiftly controlled his emotions and answered, "He is doing better than the person that sent him to that state."
"Ah, that's good." Freya revealed a mocking smile. "I was worried that after what happened to him, he might never wake up. It's good to see that he is doing better now."
"Freya, I would advise you to be extremely careful with your words. Don't forget what can happen to your younger generation in the days to come."
The man lightly patted the head of his daughter, but his eyes were like that of a vicious beast that was warning another beast about the consequences.
What do you think?
