Legendary Architect of Apocalypse

Chapter 120 Life's work

"The entire forest is being destroyed. You are killing the fables before they are even born!" A voice echoed in Elias's head.

"Are you finally willing to speak again?" Elias watched the cracks appearing on the glass gem, similar to the cracks that were appearing around his surroundings, as well as on the trees and everything within the forest.

Multiple red screens surrounded him. The screens were giving him live updates about the progress of the merger, or rather, the destruction of the materials.

The Sylphs, who looked like small fairies, also saw the destruction and started flying around, screaming at him, asking him what he was doing. Even though they knew that he shouldn't be able to hear or see them, they still didn't hold back.

Once they had had enough of scolding him for destroying their homes, they started leaving the forest to enter the land of fables, which looked more stable than this place.

"I don't want to talk to you either. I just want to remind you about the things that you are doing. Didn't you say they were materials for you? Why are you destroying them?"

"All materials are useless if I can't even leave this place. If this will open a path back, then let it be."

"You know, you are truly no different from them. I should have realized your identity much sooner."

"You are right. I am just as bad as them, but it's not enough for me. In a family of monsters, if you're not a bigger monster, then it's only a matter of time before you are devoured. Maybe that's why Aliath was..."

Elias realized what Astralious meant by "them." These words might have made him feel bad in the past, but not anymore. He didn't care if he was called a bad person, or even an outright evil one.

As long as he stayed true to his core values, he didn't care what else he had to do.

He had long realized that in this world, he had to learn the same vicious tricks that others used if he wanted to survive. And if he wanted to go beyond simple survival, then he had to surpass his own family. Read exclusive adventures at My Virtual Library Empire

Soon, the destruction of the forest reached one hundred percent. A loud cracking noise resounded in the air as the small gem shattered into thousands of pieces, each piece flying in a different direction.

Some of the pieces even struck Elias on his arms, chest, and even his face, making him bleed. Along with the forest, the guardian of the forest was also destroyed, and the door broke into a myriad of pieces.

The entire forest disappeared into nothingness, the seal maintained by the guardian completely gone. All the domain borders disappeared, and the remaining domain lords were freed from their shackles.

With the guardian's death, the closed passage was also left wide open, connecting the barren land back to the Academy.

Not a single blade of grass or leaf was left where a lush forest had once stood. All that remained was the canvas, lying near Elias's feet.

"It worked..." Elias stared at the portal that had appeared right before him, at the exact center of where the forest had been. Even he was slightly surprised that his plan had worked just as he had expected.

He glanced back in the direction of the land of fables, unaware of the kind of chaos that he had caused in this place and the Academy by breaking the barrier and the seal.

"What they do after this is up to them." He turned back to the portal and stepped inside, returning to the long corridor in the academy. "I am certain they won't be foolish enough to leave this place, but if they do..."

He knew what was the fate of the soul beasts that tried to escape this place even after the barrier had disappeared. The Academy was full of people that were many times stronger than the fables.

Even a Constellation couldn't face someone on the level of a professor, something that he had confirmed through Astralious's memories. Even the Seniors of the Academy held Soul Beasts in the high grades or higher.

It was clear that all those that passed through the portal were going to be killed. He didn't care about most of them, except Lycorice and the old man that had helped him, but they also looked wiser than the others.

He had complete faith that the old man wasn't going to let Lycorice do something so foolish, so he could freely leave without worries.

....

"What is happening?" The old man stepped out of the underground facility, right on time to catch the disappearance of the Domain Barrier, something that he could feel at his core.

He also looked in the direction of the forest of fables after flying higher into the sky, and saw that the forest had completely disappeared. What was left behind, was a bright portal which should've been kept closed by the Guardian.

"What just happened while I wasn't here?" He wondered, his expressions getting distorted. "This is bad... This is so bad! That vicious woman will definitely come here to check what happened. And when she does, she will also find 'it'. I can't let it happen."

Elias had thought that the old man was going to be lazy and stay at his home despite the large-scale commotion that he had caused, but he didn't realize the true circumstances of the man.

He quickly went down the ground, into his facility. Within ten minutes, he stepped out of the place, holding a small pendant in his hand.

He rushed inside his hut, and saw the girl who was sitting on the bed, her face slightly pale for some reason as she was breathing heavily.

"We have to get out of here!" The old man didn't have time to notice the strangeness in the girl's condition. He simply placed the strange looking pendant around her neck.

"This is my life's work! You have to protect it at any cost, no matter what happens to me!" He told the girl, before taking her out of the hut. He didn't notice a contracted mark that had appeared on the back of her neck now.
