Legendary Architect of Apocalypse

Chapter 149: Inheritance

"Your luck can't be that bad... Right?" Astralious laughed awkwardly.

With so many dimensions in the universe, it was impossible to connect one place to another without knowing the exact coordinates of the other place.

It was already unfortunate enough that a spatial fracture had connected to a forbidden place, the possibility of which happening was less than one in a billion.

It was as if someone had been told to guess a nine-digit password to open a safe and had succeeded on the first try. The chances of that happening again were even lower, but Astralious couldn't say that with certainty either.

"I think it would be better if we don't talk about my luck." Elias sent the sword back within his body, and sat down. Just standing under that heavy pressure had already exhausted him more than he thought it would.

"What happened here? How did you connect to that place out of all? Even Chronos doesn't dare to do something like this!" The man glared at the Professors after closing the spatial fracture. "Are you all fools?"

"We didn't do anything. It was nothing more than an accident." Medusa wiped the trail of blood from the corner of her lips. She bravely stood before the man and the Dean, and explained everything that had happened.

"You are truly naive..." The Dean sighed. "Did you really think you could break through the barrier of the Previous Dean if you attacked together?"

Almost everyone in the universe knew the previous Dean of the Academy. In fact, it was because of him that the Academy enjoyed such a good reputation.

Even in the era where godlike existences were common, the Dean of the Academy had roamed freely across galaxies, ranked amongst the top five experts of the universe.

Freya didn't even dare to compare herself from the previous dean, even though she had gone through roughly the same number of evolutions that the Previous Dean had gone through.

She couldn't believe that professors of the Academy thought that they could break through the barrier of an expert like that with sheer numbers.

"You are lucky that Lord Jeskirin was here to help us close the fracture in time. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable."

Even the Dean didn't know just what kind of existence lived on the other side of the fracture, and she didn't have any interest in knowing either.

All she knew was that it was a place that almost every major force avoided. And those who didn't, were wiped off the face of this universe.

"It was my fault. I will take responsibility for it." Medusa stepped forward. Even though it wasn't her idea to attack together, she had agreed to it as the leader of the group. She was willing to take all responsibility.

"Sigh, what am I to do with you?" The Dean shook his head with a helpless expression. "The resources assigned to you will be reduced by ninety percent for the next six months. And you need to write an apology letter. It should be on my desk before morning."

Medusa didn't complain, and accepted the punishment. Even though she had taken the blame, the other Professors couldn't avoid responsibility either. The resources granted to them were refused by fifty percent for the next three months.

Once she finished assigning punishment to all the professors responsible for this mistake, she shifted her attention back to the main topic of concern, which was the Tomb of the previous Dean of the Academy.

She landed on the ground next to the entrance of the Tomb, which was covered by a barrier.

"What do you think about this barrier?" she asked.

Jeskirin stepped forward and tapped the barrier lightly, only to have his finger burn until nothing the bone was left.

"It's definitely the barrier cast by your previous Dean. The flames that burn everything, while still feeling freezing cold." Jeskirin watched his finger, that slowly healed until not even the slightest trace of it ever being hurt was left behind.

"Just what was he thinking when making this place?" Freya took a step back, and looked at the tree of frozen flames. Despite being the present Dean of the Academy, even she didn't know about the existence of this place.

She didn't even know that the previous Dean was buried in the Academy itself. After elevating her to the position of the Dean, the previous Dean had simply disappeared.

Ever since then, she never saw that man. Until now, she didn't even know if that man was still alive or dead.

Now that she looked at these flames, she grew more certain that he had actually died. He had died inside the Academy itself, within the tomb that he created for himself.

There was no other way for the Ice Phoenix Flames to be here, unless he ripped these flames from his body and left them here.

"Why would his tomb show itself out of nowhere? It couldn't be possible, unless he wanted it to happen, right?" she asked, growing more perplexed with each passing second, trying to grasp his intentions.

"Maybe he wanted his flames to be inherited by someone? After his death, it would certainly take some time for his flames to be detached from him?"

"If that was the case, why would he place a barrier that doesn't even let us enter?"

"Who knows what he was thinking. Maybe you don't match the criteria that he placed? Which expert would want their heir to be so old?"

"Are you calling me old?" Freya's lips twitched.

"Are you not?" Jeskirin maintained his position, without a single care in the world. "Anyways, I can feel that the barrier resists us a lot. But at the same time, there seems to be something else in it."

He further continued, "It only resists us as a warning, but not with the intention to kill us, as long as we aren't stubborn."

To prove his theory, he raised his hand, and summoned a youngster that was closest to him. An unknown force made the young boy reach out his hand towards the barrier, and the dean didn't stop him either.
