Chapter 214: Upside down
Elten had heard quite a lot of good things about Elias. It was a child who had even remained steadfast when facing their father.
He had always kept a low profile in the past, bordering that of a coward. But after coming to the Academy, he had turned into a bird that was trying to soar through the sky without fear of the vultures.
He had even kidnapped Dreke, and refused to hand him over. On the surface, it looked like a foolish decision that was going to upset the family, but it was actually a very clever decision.
As long as Dreke was under his control, and his whereabouts were unknown, the family couldn't really afford to kill. Dreke's safely had ensured Elias's safety from the family, especially with Dreke's mother holding so much power.
Silas Ashborn was the undeniable Overlord of the Ashborn Family. But after him, it was Dreke's mother that was said to hold the most influence in the family. He had aimed straight at her heart, by kidnapping her only child.
Elten didn't feel any pity for Dreke. They were simply half brothers, and he wasn't particularly fond of Dreke, or his mother either. He didn't care about the fact that Dreke was kidnapped, but he still found it quite clever.
So far, Elias had taken many decisions that looked like they were made because he was a petty person. Only Elten thought otherwise. He was a very cunning child, who also had quite an interesting talent that even he couldn't see through.
If Elias came across Kaelen, was he really going to be taken down? It was uncertain at the moment.
Even though Elias had a really low chance of success against the Inheritor of the Phoenix Flames, Elten still had a feeling that if anyone amongst the young ones could take Kaelen down, then it was his little brother.
There was another reason he didn't try to stop Elias. He needed Kaelen to be dead. Even if he had overestimated Elias, and the child couldn't defeat Kaelen, it was still good enough if he could give him a reason to take action personally.
Elias approached the camp of the Creator Faction. But no one was able to alert the rankers that were resting inside their tents.
There were a few children who were guarding the camp with their Summoned Beasts. Before they could even see Elias, a small hole was left in the middle of their forehead. Their bodies kept falling on the ground, and their names turned grey in the ranking.
The test was supposed to be a simple one. The Academy had already considered the possibility of quite a few students dying, but the number of dead had long surpassed any expectations they might have had.
The Destroyer Faction of the First Year had been completely eliminated, with only Elias being left alive. Even the Creator Faction had lost at least half their people, and more were dying.
The test, which was made to gauge the strength and coordination of the beastly partners of the students, had turned into a feast of blood.
Inside one of the tents, a ranker was lying in bed, waiting for the time to run out. The ranker of the creator faction sat up, noticing the shadow of a person cast on the walls of his tent.
"Is anyone outside?" he asked, but there was no answer.
His feet landed on the ground, and he walked to the exit. "Are you deaf? Don't you hear what I'm asking? Who is outside?"
He moved the curtain aside to see who was outside. But all he managed to see was the face of a person that he never expected to be there.
"You are-" He mumbled, taking a step back. He was about to summon his beast, but no voice came out of his throat.
Instead, his world was turned upside down when he noticed that his body was still standing, while his head was flying in the air.
With a thud, his head fell on the ground. His vision darkened, and the last thing he saw was Elias's foot, which landed on his head. Before he could even close his eyes in death, the foot came stomping down, and his skull shattered.
The rankers had started dying, but no one was able to notice it soon enough. Only one name was left in the scroll of the Destroyer Faction, while only four names were left in the Creator Faction's scroll now.
The Creator Faction hadn't expected something like this to happen, near the end of this test. They had already lowered their guard, and were quite relaxed, still drunk on the pleasure of success in this test.
Besides Kaelen, only three rankers had survived. And all of them were gathered together, getting drunk. Normally, they were competing with each other, but at this point, they were drinking together, and laughing.
The third and fourth rankers had been gathered by Olsen, who didn't want them to have any opportunity to find Elias and surpass his ranking. So he marked the end of their test with his own, and already started celebrating, getting them drunk.
"To think that we have achieved something that had never been achieved before! We have managed to wipe out the entire Destroyed Faction. Even our seniors hadn't managed to achieve that when they were in their first year!"
"Even though most of the credit goes to Kaelen, our contribution can't be ignored either. After we return to the Academy, we will become legends! Hahaha, I can already see the shocked expressions of my father when he hears it!"
"Good riddance. The Destroyer Faction of the first year would have become our enemies in the future. We might have suffered like the seniors are suffering! By ending this mess in the early stages, we can rest easy in the future!"
"The Destroyer Faction was pathetically weak in the first place. If they didn't have the help of that formation, we could have wiped them without Kaelen's help. The Seniors must be very incompetent if they didn't manage to kill the Destroyers of their years."
What do you think?
