Chapter 36 Then survive
Elias walked out of the bedroom, and saw Leo that was getting first aid. However, with the door broken, the cold had rushed inside, which made his conditions even worse.
He walked closer to the young man, who still glared at him. However, more than himself, he was worried about the safety of the woman that had refused to leave him.
"You are not a child. You are a demon!" He exclaimed, catching a glimpse of his gun in Elias' left hand. "You already took everything from me! Are you still not satisfied?"
Elias didn't offer any explanation or self justification. It was true that he had hurt this man, no matter the reason.
"If you think I am a demon, then you haven't seen a true demon yet," he stated, walking past the couple as if he had no intentions of hurting them any more.
"If you want to have revenge, then survive. If you can't even do that..." He didn't finish his sentence and stepped out of the room.
Walking through the hallway, Elias pressed the button on the lower right side of the watch, opening the map again. Just as he thought, the red dot at his location had disappeared. There was no other person at this location with abilities, except him.
His eyes moved and he shifted his focus on the next red dot in his domain which was the closest to him.
After coming to this world, he had thought that he was going to learn more about his abilities, but he had a feeling that his own abilities weren't enough to complete this test in the way he wanted.
He needed more abilities, even if they were temporary. He needed something that could overwhelm the Frost Queen who believed that no one could defeat her.
"Seven days, huh?" he mumbled, walking towards the building's windows. Outside, a thick layer of snow already blanketed the land, rising up to the height of the fourth floor.
He needed a proper exit, and this was the fastest one he could find. He pushed open the window, letting in a powerful cold wind, accompanied by flecks of snow.
He climbed onto the windowsill and jumped. He wasn't worried about breaking his legs. If there was one thing he didn't lack, it was sturdy bones.
The moment he leaped out, he closed his eyes. He fell, keeping his feet pointed downward.
He soon reached the height of the fourth floor, his feet touching the top layer of snow. But gravity didn't make things easy. His body broke through the first layer, sinking as if he were being completely devoured.
He had to crawl his way up through the snow until his face was finally outside. His breathing became rough and heavy, as if he had literally drowned.
He dragged his body out of the snow, and lied on top of it, slightly exhausted as he looked at the clouded sky, with snow flecks constantly raining down.
The weather of this world was becoming more extreme with each passing second. It didn't seem like an exaggeration when the Frost Queen said that this world was going to become completely lifeless on the Eighth Day.
Lying on the snow, he opened the storage realm that appeared in the form of a spatial portal before him. Fortunately, he didn't have to struggle with this temporary ability like he had to do with his main class.
The moment he absorbed the temporary ability core, he received the basic information about the ability. It even felt as if it was a part of his body that he could manipulate willingly.
Was this knowledge a part of the ability core to help humans learn their use faster for this test? He wasn't certain. The only thing he knew was that it had worked in his favor.
He looked inside the storage realm, which had a huge space. Inside, there were a lot of vegetables and fruits, still kept as fresh as the day it was placed there. There were even thousands of warm dishes that seemed to have been freshly prepared and delivered right before the frost descended.
There were electronic machines, weapons, drones, and even vehicles like luxury cars and tanks. Just looking at the scene inside the storage realm left Elias surprised, making him wonder how Leo had even managed to gather all of these things.
Most of those cars and tanks were already useless in this weather, but there was one thing that looked like it could be useful.
He brought out a snowmobile from the storage, making it land on the snow before him. Even though he had never driven one, he didn't think it was going to be much harder, especially since he didn't have to worry about his age or height with the vehicle's build.
Even if he broke a few of them in the process of learning, he didn't have to worry. There were already tens of them in the storage.
Unfortunately, it was only when he tried to start it that he realized how hard it was. He couldn't start it at all. There was a key already inserted, but even after twisting it, nothing seemed to change.
He tried for half an hour, but nothing changed. He was starting to get so frustrated that he had to resist the urge to simply abandon this piece of metal.
He understood when to give up. Even if it looked simple, he couldn't start it. He needed help. Fortunately, he had something that could easily help him convince people now.
He shifted the gun to his right hand and walked over to the fifth floor window of the apartment building where he just came from. He broke the window and jumped inside.
Merely ten minutes had passed, before he came out with a group of twenty people, all looking pale at the sight of the gun.
All twenty of them started observing the snowmobile. With the gun aimed at him, they didn't think they could afford to mess around. Those of them that knew anything about the snowmobiles, told Elias what he was doing wrong, and helped him start it.
After they helped him, they quickly stepped back, not wanting the child to have even the slightest semblance of threat that might make him shoot.
"Ah, so that's what it was." Looking at the process, Elias couldn't believe how simple it was. He even wondered if he was a fool to not be able to guess these things.
He opened the storage realm, and brought out hundreds of cans of food, and tossed them towards the group of people.
"This should be enough for you to last for seven days. If you can live beyond that, it depends on this world's luck." Elias climbed on the snowmobile, and used the method of riding it that was taught to him and left.
....
On the eighth floor of the apartment building, the woman had finally managed to stop Leo's bleeding. However, with the door broken, they knew they couldn't stay there any longer.
"You stay right here," she told Leo, who was sitting with his back against a wall. "I'll go and see if there's a suitable, safe apartment for us to move to."
Even though she said she was going to find a different apartment, he knew she was actually going to look for food.
All their food was in his storage, which had been taken. Now, there was only a little bit left, which might not even last a few days. He felt ashamed that he could only rely on her.
"What?!" He suddenly heard the woman's loud cry. He came out of his daze and rushed out, worried for her safety, thinking that the child might have returned.
It was only when he stepped out of the apartment that he understood why she had made such a noise. No one was there, and there was no threat.
What truly shocked her was that there were hundreds of cans of food left outside their apartment. Not just food, but water and other necessities were also there.
There was also a gun that was lying on the ground, accompanied by multiple magazines that were full.
After months of frost apocalypse, no one could afford so many things. It could only come from his storage. Did Elias leave them here? Leo's mind was in a mess.
"Why?" he mumbled, unable to understand.
What do you think?
