Chapter 759 - Wrath, Envy, and Greed
The first day of The Eternal Challenge kicked off with a series of spectacular performances across multiple contests, leaving the audience in awe. Team Destroyer set the tone early, delivering an extraordinary display of dominance. Despite having only five members, they nearly wiped out every opponent they faced—even players who weren't ordinary by any measure, with two Divine Champions on the opposing side.
In another highlight of the day, the Beast Battle contest unfolded with just as much intensity. Like Team Destroyer, Jovina, a member of the Vensalor Guild, completely dominated all three of her matches. Even when she faced an evenly matched opponent in Marlene, the Gluttony Champion, Jovina emerged victorious. She summoned a massive Fae Beast in the form of a wolf covered in molten lava, a fearsome creature that left the crowd and her opponent stunned.
"Jovina takes another victory!" the caster shouted excitedly.
Jovina, wearing a subtle smile of triumph, approached Marlene, who stood silently after her defeat. Extending her hand toward the red-haired girl, Jovina smirked and said, "Work harder next time... you're not on my level yet, hah!"
Marlene responded with nothing but a faint smile, her lips curling slightly as she shook Jovina's hand. Without a word, the two left the arena.
Next up, the second round of the Raid Race resumed, with Team Destroyer now facing the winners from the first round. Interestingly, as the match progressed, more extraordinary figures from across Yunatea began to make their appearance. Among them were players with Epic-grade classes and even several Divine Champions.
"This is absolutely incredible! There are three more Divine Champions competing in this Raid Race!"
"And yes, this time, I don't think Melliandra will have as much freedom to dominate like she did in the previous round."
"Yeah, I'm not so sure they'll breeze through this one as easily as before."
As soon as the Raid Race began, all six teams in the arena quickly shifted their focus to dealing with the waves of monsters. Speed was critical—they had to clear the waves as quickly as possible, because any delay would give rival teams the chance to finish their own waves and move in to disrupt their progress.
"Paul, we're still here watching this Raid Race unfold, and the memory of the battles from the previous round is still fresh in everyone's minds," Brando began, his tone eager for insight. "I'd love to hear your analysis of this round, especially now that we have more Divine Champions competing as potential threats to Team Destroyer. And, as we know, they're still sticking with just five members. Do you think this is a show of confidence on their part? Or is Broken really not even necessary, even at this stage?"
Paul replied in a composed tone. "Well, I'm not entirely sure what's going on. However, there have been reports that Broken was spotted still active in the game. Maybe he stepped back from this contest for some reason, or perhaps there's more to it. But…" he paused for a moment, letting the tension build.
"We do know that the three Divine Champions competing in this match have the capability to easily counter Melliandra, who serves as Team Destroyer's main damage dealer. If they succeed, it could also make it difficult for Kingsley to perform at his full potential," Paul concluded.
At the same time, the tension in the game skyrocketed as Team Destroyer finished their monster wave with remarkable speed. But it was clear from the movements of other players across the arena that trouble was brewing—they were once again converging on Team Destroyer.
"The contestants in this match still see Team Destroyer as the biggest threat, given how much effort they're focusing entirely on them," Brando remarked.
"Yeah, that's to be expected. Look, Melliandra is already sprinting onto the transparent platforms, aiming to launch herself higher and prepare for the same aerial strategy she used before," Paul added.
The camera suddenly cut to a player in the arena wearing light armor, his body lean but visibly scarred. He was a Beastkin with the head of a rat and was clearly identified as a player—and a Greed Champion. He was Mooz.
Another screen in the arena began playing a short interview clip of this player. The man, his long black hair falling to his shoulders, stared directly into the camera with his large, intense eyes. Discover stories with My Virtual Library Empire
"I will render Kingsley useless in this match!" he declared in the interview.
The live feed returned just in time to show Kingsley beginning his transformation into his Armored Bear form. Before he could fully shift, the player named Mooz sprinted forward with incredible speed. In one swift movement, Mooz leapt into the air, his body twisting as he ascended. Suddenly, his frame grew larger, and his form shifted—mimicking Kingsley's transformation, but into an Armored Hawk instead.
"Mooz has just revealed the power of his Greed Blessing!" Brando shouted in excitement. "Mooz can temporarily steal another player's ability, which means Kingsley won't be able to take flight to protect Melliandra anymore!"
Mooz, now in Kingsley's stolen transformation as the massive Armored Hawk, soared through the air with impressive speed, chasing down Melliandra, who struggled to navigate the transparent platforms high above the arena. The girl's agility was impressive, but the relentless pursuit from the hawk form was making it increasingly difficult for her to evade.@@novelbin@@
Meanwhile, on the ground, the camera shifted to another player. A figure in light armor with long blonde hair stood calmly, hidden among the cover of the environment. Suddenly, in his hand, he summoned something—a sniper rifle, identical to Melliandra's!
"That's Nexthar for you," Paul remarked. "Nexthar is an Envy Champion, and his blessing allows him to copy the equipment of his opponents. While it's only temporary, he can wield any copied equipment with incredible precision and efficiency. And now, he's copied Melliandra's sniper rifle."
From a distance, Nexthar crouched, raising the rifle and taking aim at Melliandra. The girl, already overwhelmed by the ferocious attacks of the Armored Hawk, was now in the crosshairs of her own weapon. With calm precision, Nexthar fired, his shot whistling through the air toward the distracted sniper.
Another screen switched to an interview with the man behind the gamertag Nexthar. His demeanor was relaxed but laced with a quiet confidence.
"Well, I'm just here to have fun," he said casually, leaning slightly into the camera. "So, I'll do my best to win this match. And yes… we'll be following the trend—taking down Team Destroyer is the top priority. I think this is going to be an exciting challenge."
The camera shifted once more, now focusing on another player in the arena—a beastkin with the appearance of a werewolf. His large frame was clad in heavy armor, giving him an imposing presence, but it did nothing to hinder his agility as he charged swiftly toward Goldrich and the others.
Paul stepped in to explain. "That's Venom, the Wrath Champion. If I'm not mistaken, this guy gains a boost to his power—either in level or stats—the more enemies he takes down in a short period of time."
Brando quickly added, "So that explains why he cleared the entire monster wave by himself?"
"Yes, that's exactly why," Paul confirmed.
The audience collectively gasped in shock as the first victim of this round fell. On the massive display, the player's name and avatar profile turned crimson, marking their elimination from the match.
"Melliandra has been defeated!" Brando shouted, his voice filled with astonishment.
What do you think?
