Legendary Broken Player - VRMMORPG

Chapter 802 - 802 - Too Good to Trust

Broken kept his spear in hand, even though he had allowed the suspicious man to explain himself.

The man's eyes kept flicking toward the spear, his throat bobbing as he swallowed nervously.

"That spear…" he muttered, his voice uncertain. "It looks even more beautiful in person."

Broken didn't respond.

But from the corner of his eye, he saw SexyGrill smirking, clearly entertained for whatever reason. That girl really found amusement in the smallest things.

Then, the man finally spoke properly.

"I have a quest." He exhaled before continuing. "To kill a monster… Well, not exactly to kill. More like to deal damage to it. But—the requirement still says the monster must die. That's the quest."

Broken tilted his head slightly.

A kill quest requiring 40 players at level 200? That was definitely a raid monster.

But why the hell did a player under level 200 have a quest with this kind of difficulty?

The man noticed Broken's confusion and immediately continued.

"You're wondering why my quest is this difficult, aren't you? Well, I… can't tell you why. Not yet. But I'm not lying. I swear. I can even tell you exactly what kind of monster I'm hunting."

Broken let out a low breath, eyeing him carefully.

"A monster that required 40 people?" His voice was skeptical. "Surely, you're useless now. The people you hired are all dead."

The man winced but nodded. "Yeah… I know."

"Then why are you still here?"

"Because this quest is my priority." His voice was urgent, like he couldn't afford to let it go. "I can't just abandon it."

"And you expect me to believe that?" Broken arched a brow.

"I already gave you an Epic-grade Soul Stone!" The man insisted. "That alone should prove I'm not lying!"

"If anything," Broken muttered, "giving me something that valuable makes me even more suspicious."

The man sighed. "It was the only way to get you to listen. And now, at least you know my real reason for being here."

Broken inhaled deeply, already feeling exhausted by this conversation.

This guy was either insanely stubborn… or completely desperate.

Spending this much money and effort for a single quest?

This had to be something huge.

A Divine Blessing quest, maybe?

Or the chance to obtain a high-grade class?

Or maybe…

A legendary item.

After thinking it over, Broken finally made up his mind—he had no reason to keep talking to this guy.

"Now, you can leave." His tone was final. "We have no further business."

Without waiting for a response, he turned away.

But just as he did, the man scrambled forward on his knees, doing everything he could to keep Broken from walking away.

"Wait, King Broken! Listen to me!"

"Just 'Broken' is enough." Broken sighed, glancing over his shoulder. "I have things to do. And your business here is already over, isn't it? I'm letting you go."

"Wait! I have a proposal!"

Broken didn't bother responding.

He just wasn't interested.

This guy was too mysterious, too suspicious, and something about him just didn't sit right.

But seeing Broken's lack of interest, the man desperately lunged forward—grabbing onto Broken's right leg.

"Wait! King Broken, wait! Please, hear me out!"

"What now?" Broken exhaled, clearly exasperated. "I already let you live…"

The man looked up, eyes filled with desperation.

"Let me join you."

"No." Broken immediately shut him down.

"I'll pay you more! Let me come with you!"

"No."

"I'll give you more valuable items! Another Soul Stone! Money! Anything! Just let me come with you!"

The man tightened his grip around Broken's leg, physically stopping him from leaving.

For a solid minute, Broken tried to walk forward, but the man clung to his leg even harder, practically hugging it.

"Please, let me come with you!" The man pleaded desperately. "I won't bother you! I just need to follow you—wherever you go in this forest!"

Broken took a deep, frustrated breath.

Why the hell did he have to run into someone like this, in a place like this?

"Listen, man." His voice was strained with pure annoyance. "This forest is crawling with high-level monsters. Even we move carefully. We can't afford to bring you along."

He sighed sharply.

"And besides, you'd just be a burden. I won't protect you. I'm not a damn mercenary."

The man didn't hesitate.

"I can survive on my own."

Broken paused.

Because when he really thought about it…

That was true.

This guy had somehow survived—even after the dragonkin massacre wiped out his entire hired group.

Despite being alone, he had made it this far, following Broken without being detected, waiting for the right moment to reveal himself.

Which meant…

He wasn't completely useless.

Still, Broken wasn't convinced.

"And what exactly do you gain from following me?"

"A chance." The man answered without hesitation. "A chance to still complete my quest."

"You won't last."

"I will." The man insisted instantly.

Then, he finally let go of Broken's leg, stepping back without drawing any weapons.

A silent moment passed.

Then—

The man vanished.

Stealth skill.

SexyGrill raised an eyebrow, impressed despite herself.

A few seconds later, the man reappeared, his expression awkwardly confident.

"See?" He grinned sheepishly. "I can disappear anytime I need to. I can keep this up for a long time."

He gestured vaguely.

"I'll be fine. No one will detect me. Except… if we're in a party, of course. Then you'd see me on the map."

Broken considered the man's proposal, his mind running through the possibilities.

There was still something suspicious about him—his level, his quest, the fact that he was so insistent on following them.

But at the same time…

He didn't seem dangerous.

Just annoyingly persistent.

The real problem was that if Broken allowed him to tag along, it meant he couldn't summon Blaze.

He had kept the demon horse a secret, only revealing it to those he truly trusted.

With that in mind, he turned to SexyGrill for her thoughts.

The girl, who had been watching the whole thing with pure amusement, simply shrugged.

She grinned. "As long as he doesn't slow us down, I don't see a problem."

Broken sighed.

Honestly… he felt the same way.

But he still had his doubts.

"I can tell you more about myself if that'll make you feel better." The man quickly offered.

Broken didn't reply.

He simply turned around and started walking.

Not saying yes.

Not saying no.

SexyGrill smirked and followed after him.

Seeing this, the man's face lit up with excitement.

"Alright! I'll just take that as a yes!" he grinned and started following them. "Don't worry, I can keep up! I run fast! I won't slow you down!"

Broken ignored him completely as they made their way toward where Pawpaw had last been.

But then—

The man kept talking.

"By the way, you're so cool—especially in the Eternal Challenge, King Broken, hehe."

"Broken."

"Right, right! Just Broken!"

And he didn't stop.

For the entire walk, he kept running his mouth, talking about random things for no clear reason—just rambling endlessly.

"Like, your fight with Elincia? That was amazing! Seriously, I enjoyed every second of it! You both really looked like you were having fun, and I can't wait to see you fight Frostedge in the final! That's gonna be incredible—"

Broken exhaled sharply, his patience thinning.

"Can you shut up? Your voice is going to attract monsters."

The man perked up. "Oh! No worries! I can make my voice only audible to you guys!"

Broken stopped walking.

Turned his head slightly.

"That'll just make me the one getting angry."

The man froze.

Then let out a nervous laugh.

"Ah… okay. I'll shut up now."
