Chapter 839 - 839 - The Silent Graveyard
Mizuki stood atop the small stage, her usual cheerful demeanor gone—instead, her expression shifted into something eerily serious, as if she were about to relive the very horror she was about to share.
Broken and his group had moved closer, now seated at the nearest table to watch her. Even SexyBloom, despite her obvious reluctance, had been dragged along by SexyGrill, who had no intention of letting her escape.
Vallrick and Ronan joined them as well, watching with mild curiosity as Mizuki took a deep breath and began.
"This happened years ago, when my crew and I were crossing the deep waters north of the Western Continent…"
"It was a night just like this—calm winds, clear skies, the moonlight reflecting off the ocean's surface like a silver mirror."
"We were keeping watch in shifts, and I was on deck at the time, enjoying the peacefulness of it all."
"And then… out of nowhere… the temperature dropped. Fast. My breath started fogging up in front of me, like we had sailed straight into winter."
"And then, we saw it."
"A ship—but not just any ship."
"This thing was massive—at least three, maybe four times the size of our vessel. But it wasn't just its size that terrified us…"
"It looked ancient—its wooden frame blackened and rotting, covered in seaweed and barnacles. The sails were torn, flapping without wind, and its masts stood crooked, like bones of a dead giant."
"But the worst part? It wasn't sailing."
"It was just… there. Sitting completely still in the middle of the ocean, despite the waves crashing around it."
SexyBloom shuddered, hugging her own arms. "W-What did you do…?" she whispered.
Mizuki's eyes flickered to her.
"We tried to change course."
"But no matter which direction we turned…"
"It was still there."
"Like the ocean itself was forcing us to look at it."
"And then… something moved on that ship."
SexyBloom tensed. "N-Nope, I don't like this."
SexyGrill grinned, tightening her grip on SexyBloom's arm. "You're not going anywhere, sweetheart. Stay and suffer."
"We saw figures—human-shaped shadows moving along the deck of that damned ship."
"At first, we thought it was just the crew of another vessel… until we noticed… they weren't moving like people."
"They drifted. Floated. Like their feet never touched the ground."
"And then…"
"One of them turned toward us."
SexyBloom yelped, instinctively pulling her legs onto the chair. "NOPE. NOPE. I DON'T LIKE WHERE THIS IS GOING."
Mizuki's expression darkened as she leaned forward, lowering her voice.
"Its eyes… glowed blue, like cold fire burning inside a hollow skull."
"And then—they all turned."
"One by one, more and more of those things faced us—hundreds of glowing blue eyes piercing through the darkness."
"That was when we knew… this wasn't just a ship."
"It was a graveyard."
SexyBloom slammed her hands over her ears. "NOOO. STOP. I'M DONE. I'M LOGGING OUT."
SexyGrill held her down, laughing. "Oh no, you're staying right here. You have to hear the ending!"
Mizuki continued, her voice lowering into an eerie whisper.
"And then, as if answering some unheard call, the figures began to move toward us."
"Not walking. Not running."
"They floated off the ship."
"One by one, they drifted into the air, moving directly toward our vessel."
"The moment the first one crossed the gap between the two ships—we felt it."
"A weight. A pressure that made it hard to breathe."
"One of my crew tried to call out, but the sound died in his throat."
"It was like the ocean itself had swallowed all sound."
SexyBloom squeezed her eyes shut, shaking her head. "NOPE. THIS IS WHY I DON'T DO OCEAN QUESTS."
Mizuki smirked, tilting her head.
"Would you like to know how we survived?"
SexyBloom snapped her head up, eyes wide with panic. "YOU MEAN YOU ALMOST DIDN'T??"
Mizuki let the silence linger for a moment—dragging out the tension.
And then—
"We did the only thing we could do."
"We turned off all our lights…"
"And prayed that the ghosts wouldn't see us in the dark."
The room fell into a heavy silence.
SexyBloom stared, too afraid to move.
Finally, Mizuki grinned.
"And that's why, to this day, no sailor dares to sail through those waters under a full moon."
"Because that's when the ghost ship rises again."
As soon as Mizuki finished her story, SexyBloom let out a loud scream, causing the entire room to burst into laughter—including Mizuki herself.
"Hahaha! You're way too easy to scare, Bloom!" Mizuki teased, wiping away tears of laughter.
SexyBloom pouted, crossing her arms. "I hate this. I hate all of you."
Broken chuckled, but then leaned forward slightly, his expression turning curious.
"So, what happened after that?" he asked.
Mizuki smirked.
"Well, we kept our distance, obviously." She shrugged. "The ship never disappeared while we were watching—it just... drifted. The ghosts kept moving around, like they were stuck repeating whatever happened to them back when they were alive."
"And then?" Broken pressed.
"Then, after a while, it just... vanished." Mizuki's tone dropped slightly, making it clear that even she found it unsettling. "Not like it sank. It was just there one second, and gone the next."
The room fell silent for a moment.
Broken glanced toward Ronan, eyes thoughtful.
"What do you think that was?" he asked. "I mean, was that really a ghost? Shouldn't ghosts be classified as spirits in this world?"
Ronan nodded. "Yeah. That's exactly what it was."
He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms.
"Those were the spirits of whoever was on that ship before it sank—no one knows when it happened, but the souls of that crew are still lingering, unable to move on."
Broken hummed in thought.
Then, a smirk formed on his lips.
"I kind of want to see it myself."
SexyBloom's head snapped toward him.
"NO."
Broken chuckled. "What? If we find it again, maybe there's a high-grade Spirit I can recruit."
SexyBloom shook her head furiously.
"No, absolutely not. We are NOT looking for it. If we see it, we TURN AROUND and PRETEND we never did."
SexyGrill grinned. "I don't know, Bloom. Sounds like an adventure to me."
SexyBloom groaned, slamming her forehead against the table. "I hate you all."
Broken smiled as he watched SexyBloom sulk, knowing full well that she had always been terrified of ghost stories since childhood.
It wasn't surprising—he had seen this reaction before.
But at the same time, it was a little ironic.
After all, Broken himself had encountered far more terrifying things than just ghosts.
He had been to Hell, a realm crawling with demons far worse than any ghost story.
He had faced the invasion of Dissidia Kingdom, where countless demons stormed the capital—
And yet, SexyBloom hadn't been this scared back then.
Maybe, to her, ghosts were something else entirely. Something far more unnatural, something that existed beyond demons or monsters. Something she just didn't want to deal with.
Still, Broken turned back to Mizuki, his mind lingering on her story.
"If a ship that big really sank… and the crew was that large… doesn't that mean something huge must've taken them down?" he asked.
Mizuki nodded slowly.
"That's what I'd assume… but we have no way of knowing when it happened."
Ronan chimed in, leaning forward.
"Yeah, and keep in mind—that wasn't a player ship. That was something else entirely."
He chuckled, his voice carrying a note of grim amusement.
"Considering how brutal the open ocean is, it's not that surprising, really. Hahaha…"
Broken smirked.
"And yet, despite knowing how dangerous it is… you guys still choose this life?"
Ronan grinned, throwing his arms behind his head.
"That's the fun of it! Hahaha!"
Yeah, of course, it was fun.
Broken couldn't deny that.
And the longer he spent on this kind of expedition, the more intrigued he became—not just by the vastness of the ocean, but by what lay beneath it.
There was something mystical about the sea—something undiscovered, unexplored, waiting just beyond the reach of most players.
This game…
It was just too real. There was too much that hadn't been explored yet, too many secrets still hidden beneath the waves. And Broken wanted to see more.
He let out a low chuckle, then stood up, stretching slightly.
"Alright then… I think it's about time we went hunting."
At those words, Ronan and the others immediately perked up.
The crew was always eager for a hunt—hunting sea monsters at night was a routine for them.
It wasn't just about experience points—these hunts were how they gathered valuable materials from the ocean's strongest creatures.
Ronan grinned as he stood up.
"Let's go!"
The others followed suit—
It was time to hunt.
What do you think?
