Chapter 110 Overlooked Yet Obvious

Facing the bedroom wall with a deadpan expression, Aoni mulled over what Nyria had just asked. In his haste to create something that both of his summonses would like, the Lad truly had overlooked a pretty important factor. Discover hidden stories at My Virtual Library Empire

From the moment Glacia had left the Flume, she had been conditioned, habituated into going to bed at the same time as Aoni, which could be considered both a good and bad thing.

Good in the sense that he wouldn't have to worry about her getting up to mischief while he slept, and Bad because odds were, unless he were nearby, she probably would have trouble sleeping and…get up to some mischievous actions.

Crossing his arms over his chest and standing up, Aoni made his way to the desk and grabbed his notebook before returning to Nyria's side and sitting back down.

"You brought up a pretty good issue, Nyria, one I hadn't really thought about, but you are correct; how indeed are we supposed to fit your nest, my bed, and Glacia's into that small room." Flipping open the notebook to a blank page and holding it at an angle that the fledgling peaking over the edge of her nest could see, Aoni began drawing a rough blueprint of the cave.

Since he wasn't concerned about it looking pretty or even three-dimensional, it was a standard 2d circular enclosure representing the cave and some lines representing the walls he had meticulously put up.

Of course, furniture like the fireplace, bed, desk, and bookshelf were all on the blueprint in shapes that roughly fit how they looked.

Ever since finding the Cavern hidden in the bowels of the mountaintop, Aoni had long since decided that the mountain peak cave would no longer be his primary residence; however, there was far too much work for him to complete before even considering a move of such proportions.

Hell, just moving the Flume alone was a challenge he wasn't up for, yet that didn't mean it was impossible.

So long as they did a proper ritual and had the right resources, something like moving a Flume's designated location was entirely within the scope of reality. That's not to say it was something that could be done frequently; in fact, there were a limited number of times a Territory Designated Flume could be moved and a bunch of restrictions such as distance from origination and such. Still, the idea had become a potential future for Aoni from the moment he and Glacia stepped foot in the Cavern.

Bearing those thoughts, Aoni had erected the walls in the cave in a more functional than aesthetic manner, so all the bedroom had space for was a walkway around two sides of the bed the size of his shoulder width, and…well, the bed.

Utilizing the natural cave wall as the back one, he had crafted three wooden structures and lined them up to create a room, which would block out the majority of the light that flooded the cave during the day and also form a sense of protection and security one could only get from being in an enclosed space versus out in the open.

As he sat there continuously drafting up a working blueprint, Nyria continued to watch over his shoulder as her lord scribbled and erased his work constantly until she noticed a glaring issue that Aoni had apparently ignored all this time.

'Uh…Brother, couldn't you just take down one of the bedroom walls and make a door leading to the cave instead…' Unsure if her input was allowed, but understanding that he was the kind of person who doted on those he cared about, Nyria chose to voice her opinion with a little shyness and hesitation.

And, of course, her words affected the Lad akin to hitting him with a stun gun.

"That…*blink*…" Turning around, he stared at Nyria with dead-fish eyes, startling and causing the fledgling to flinch away before looking at him wearily.

*Blink…Blink* As silence descended on the cave, the pair of Lord and Summoned matched each other's blinks. One was startled at their stupidity, and the other confused as to how something so obvious had been overlooked.

*Blink…blink.*

"Shit….you got me, good job Nyria," shifting his expressions as if wearing a mask, Aoni reached over the nest's wall and gave his summon some under-the-beak scratches before attacking himself mentally.@@novelbin@@

'DUMB, DUMB, FUCKING DUMB, Oh yeah, let's waste all this time making walls for your TINY ASS DOORLESS BEDROOM while ignoring the fact that YOUR CAVE HAS NO FUCKING DOOR!' He screamed mentally while pampering Nyria.

"Chee…"

'Un..hehe, I didn't do much, but I'm happy to help.' Betraying the weariness she felt seconds before, Nyria leaned against her lord's hand and enjoyed the attention.

'Fucking dumb ass Aoni, HUFFFF,' Using one hand to pamper Nyria while the other massaged his temple, the Lad instantly considered a dozen different plausible ways he could have ignored something so simple, but in the end, the real reason was quite obvious, he had too much on his plate at any given time.

Survival, training, personal growth, crafting, taking care of his summons, worrying about the future, and the multiple half-finished projects- there just wasn't enough daylight or hours in a day for him to get everything done alone.

By the time he retreated to his bed for the night, Aoni was basically running on fumes, with steam coming out of his ears; after all, it wasn't like he was some crazy, hyper-intelligent mad scientist, nope, just a dumb teenage kid in way over his head reaching for anything to keep himself from drowning under the impending pressure looming on the horizon.

Funnily enough, a good majority of Aoni's issues could be solved if he…well, acted like an actual LORD.

'I, as a lord, am supposed to delegate tasks to my summons, but Terra knows Glacia can barely keep her attention on a single thing for longer than a few minutes. Wait…' That singular thought set off a chain reaction of explosions in Aoni's head as his eyes drifted away from Nyria's smiling face to her powerful wings.

'I've never been able to trust Glacia being out of sight for too long because she's a giant goober, but Nyria….Nyria, on the other hand, is not only quite smart but also perfectly capable of flying over the mountain and doing recon, so long as she stays within the boundaries of my Territory, there is ZERO chance of her getting hurt.'
