Chapter 133 The Final 12 Days (9)

When the double-doored gate swung open and revealed Glacia to both Nyria and Aoni, the two of them froze for a second, not because the floof was coated in blood; no, that didn't bother them much, seeing as it was a fairly regular occurrence whenever she hunted, but instead because of the nine corpses waiting on the ground behind her.

"Ch….ee.."

'Brother, don't yell; she is super proud.'@@novelbin@@

*Inhale….exhale*

Considering the wise birb's words and feeling his eye twitch, Aoni shoved down his anger and disappointment and walked forward toward the hyper Glacia as she bounced back and forth, shouting OoO and Gao like it was a party.

"Glacia, didn't I tell you NOT to cross the barrier," the moment the words left his lips, the floof ceased all her showy activity and took a step back.

"You were only supposed to look, not leave the territory to fight," Stopping in front of her, Aoni took a knee and placed his palm atop Glacia's head, holding her in place, without exerting any force, of course.

Frightened because whenever her Lord's voice got this calm, it was generally followed by something that would make her regret any decision she made, Glacia's eyes darted toward her sister for support, only to find that Nyria had already left the gate and was in the process of moving the corpses into the camp.

"Ga….gao, meep…" With a slow pan of her big, watery emerald eyes, Glacia looked up at Aoni with a little fear and more regret in her expression and uttered a meep right as she felt her body lifted into the air.

"Yeah…meep, you know better than to come home Dirty." No matter how angry he was that she'd left the safety of the barrier, the fact that the floof not only took down what Aoni determined to be seven 1-Star monsters but also two 2-Star monsters gave him enough solace that he shifted his approach and decided to punish her for something else.

Something that he had told her HUNDREDS of times, yet Glacia refused to pay attention to, and that was dragging blood and gore into the camp.

And what better way to punish a disobedient floof than with the one thing she hates more than losing dinner, a MEEP (bath)?

"GAOooOOoooOOooO~" tilting her head back and howling to the sky as if it were the worst thing in the world, Glacia struggled for a bit before giving into her destiny, allowing Aoni to drag her toward the area near the rampart cleared away for bathing.

---

Nyria watched from the top of the rampart and shook her head in confusion; after all, she quite enjoyed bathtime because that was when her Lord would give plenty of attention to each one of her feathers, making sure none were dirty.

Hopping off the wall and spreading her wings, she then glided back to the ground and went to work, moving the corpses to their proper places.

After being taught about the structure and order of how her Lord stores and catalogs items, Nyria knew everything he would expect; thus, her first course of action was collecting the easy-to-remove materials, such as fangs, claws, scales, the works, before moving on to preparing the carcasses for processing.

Once that was finished, the smaller ones were stored in designated chests on the eastern side of the mountain, while the larger corpses were placed in front of the racks used for carving and skinning.

In the beginning, Nyria couldn't comprehend why Aoni would go through so much trouble when he could easily just eat the meat; however, upon spending more time around him and watching how meticulously he worked, she grew to understand and respect the effort her Lord put into crafting.

---

By the time Aoni returned to the camp carrying Glacia over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, he couldn't help but beam like a proud parent when he found the bodies had already been dealt with.

"Great work, Nyria," he said while placing the moping Glacia down beside the fire to dry off and giving the birb some affection.

"Cheee, Click click,"

'It wasn't hard, brother; all the smaller ones are in the chests, and the bigger ones are by your nest thingys.' Relishing in the scratches and pats, Nyria happily responded while nudging against his palm.

The rest of the day revolved around processing the bodies, storing the meat, and, most importantly, extracting whatever resource he could from the corpses.

---

Later that night, Aoni and the summons sat around the fire, having just finished their meals, when the Lad pulled a small stone box from his inventory and showed it to the floof and birb.

"I know you two have been wondering about these, so it's time to explain their purpose." Opening the lid of the box and revealing its contents, the two summons found they couldn't tear their eyes off the small objects held within.

It was like they were calling out to them, and the longer they observed the multiple objects, the deeper the hunger they felt toward them became.

"These are called Energia Cells, and every living creature has one: me, you, even the monsters outside the barrier. Once a being receives a grade and enters the 1-Star Stage, their Energia Cell activates, and from that moment on, it will constantly draw in the ambient Energia and grow."

"gaooo…" *hungry…want,* with a low-pitched mumbled gao, drool began pooling on the log under Glacia's mouth as she slowly inched closer to the stone box.

"Chee, chee, clack,"

'Brother, Energia is what lets you make snow, right?' Unlike her sister, who only thought with her stomach and instincts, Nyria had a bit more control over herself, or at least enough control to question things.

"Yes and no, think of it as something that makes everything stronger: the air we breathe, the trees, our mountain, all the way down to the glutton sitting beside you and myself, we all use Energia in some form, and it is by consuming Energia Cells, or EC's that beings like us can get stronger."

"GAO GAO!" hearing about getting stronger, Glacia snapped out of her daze and screamed 'Add points!'

"Yeah, like adding points, only a lot slower. The way we get stronger is less natural, but the normal way is by hard work and, of course, using Energia Cells."
