Legendary Traveler: By Earning Progress Points I will Become Supreme!

Chapter 85 Sapphire (1)

With a sense of defeat pushing him into action, Aoni sorted everything that needed to be sorted and assessed the condition of what remained of his destroyed equipment chest.

It didn't take him too long, maybe 15 to 20 minutes, but the results were about what he expected, considering it was like a bomb had exploded inside the chest; next to nothing remained in one piece, with the only things being a few of the bone weapons were still usable.

Everything else would be considered junk and, as such, recycled into new projects.

'Still, im pretty lucky I stored these inside of a small stone box; if not, I probably could have gotten hurt,' holding up an opened box a little smaller than what shoes came in, the lad examined twelve sharpened bone fragments, that had been crafted into needles.

'They could have easily turned into projectiles, and given the force of the explosion, I'm not 100% sure I could have walked away unscathed.' Heaving a tired sigh, Aoni closed the box and stored it on one of the workbenches before walking out of the crafting station and heading back into the cave.

Having just exploded one of his containers and barely dodged a dangerous situation, he wasn't about to jump right back into upgrading the remaining containers and instead decided it was time to open that Sapphire Orb.

Careful not to accidentally touch the orb as he walked past it, the lad made his way toward the bedroom, and upon peeking his head into the small room, he found not only Nyria sleeping soundly but Glacia asleep as well while curled up around her in a protective manner.

The sight brought a new kind of warmth to Aoni's heart, and with a nod, he snuck away from the room and stood before the final orb in his multi-summon.

'Seeing as I haven't earned any Points from my summoning yet, I can only assume it will be handled after I finish the tenth and last orb.' Although it had been a couple of hours since he first activated the Flume, it wasn't like the orbs would mysteriously vanish.

It was a subject often glazed over during classes, and if it weren't for confirmation from his father, Aoni would have believed there was a limited window when it came to crushing the orbs; however, it was quite the opposite. Enjoy exclusive content from My Virtual Library Empire

As long as you didn't crush the orbs, they could stay in their ethereal state for as long as the Owner of the Flume desired, but the downside was the Flume would enter an idle state, much like a car left on to warm up, and as such, couldn't be used for anything in the meantime.

For Aoni, who was perfectly safe in his territory thanks to the benefit of being a New Lord, or…well, downside since he couldn't return to Terra, it wasn't like he had a whole lot of use for the Flume apart from summoning.

That was why he wasn't necessarily in a hurry to burn through the multi-summon. Then again, he was known for repeating the word Steady over and over in his head so as not to rush important decisions.

Yet, even with his constant mental self-warnings, he still blew up a valuable storage container.

Covering his face with a hand and rubbing it a few times, the lad allowed his fingers to trail from his browline to his lips before looking up at the Orb lazily bobbing up and down in the air some four feet off the ground.

'Between what I've learned about Nyria's life and the little accident earlier, I can't bring myself to get excited about this anymore.' Wearing a melancholic expression and letting his arms hang by his side loosely, Aoni stared at what had once been an object of his desire.

It could be anything, from a super powerful baby dragon to an amazing weapon; after all, this was a Six-Star Summon we were talking about; that level of Power was tantamount to winning the lottery after a life of eating dirt every day since birth.

However, even so, there was a nagging thought scratching at the back of the lad's mind, which seemed to scream he wasn't ready for another mouth to feed.

Would he really be able to take care of it and help Nyria work through her trauma at the same time? The answer was a hard "Maybe" at best. Mental health was a subject strongly dealt with in the academies because of the high suicide rates amongst travelers, and as such, it was a serious topic not only in his country but the entire world of Terra.@@novelbin@@

They were taught how to deal with and express their emotions, especially when it came to things like loss and the depression brought about by the death of a Summon.

Even so, his knowledge didn't necessarily convert in the case of Nyria, who had seen only the horrors of the world.

Thus, Aoni's hesitation in crushing the Orb was understandable. What happens if, on the off chance, he DOES get a Stubborn and Prideful baby Dragon, or worse yet, a humanoid who has all their faculties? Wouldn't he end up in over his head?

It's not like the chances of that were near or at Zero; with a Six-Star summon, they were QUITE real, hell even the fact that he had rolled one was an amazing feat, considering how this single summon was higher than anything the Travelers in his family had pulled with second place being a Four-Star humanoid.

'No, you're getting in your head again, Aoni; you swore you would be different when you Awakened," feeling his mind deteriorating and falling into the solace of depression, the lad clenched his fists tightly enough that all his knuckles popped.

"We keep moving forward, progressing, no matter what," with a flash of determination in his eyes, Aoni thrust his left hand forward, and with a sound akin to glass shattering, he crushed the Sapphire Orb, causing a gust of wind to smash into his body and ragdoll him across the cave.
