Chapter 87 Glacia's Concern
"Take Care of her, Glacia. Your little sister needs you, and as a big sister, I need you to be there for her when I can't. For now, be a good girl and lend her your support, and don't worry about the things happening outside of this room. Most importantly, stay here until I come back and check on you."
Those were the few words her Lord had said before leaving and eventually placing the sheet metal he had summoned earlier in front of the doorway.
Although the Link Of Subordination connected her to Aoni, it wasn't the same case with Glacia and Nyria, so while her Lord was experiencing what few memories the bird was tormented by, Glacia could only feel the turmoil coming from the lad.
She could feel his sadness as he worked his way through the memories, his concern for her new sister, and even his struggles with how he would handle Nyria.
Through the LoS, his every emotion was on display for Glacia, and frankly, she had no idea what to make of it. That's why, in the end, she stayed obedient and just mirrored whatever Aoni said and did when it came to interacting with Nyria.
When he told her to stay with the bird, it was unquestionable that she would, and she had even gone the extra mile in curling around her new sister as she would tremble from time to time.
Unfortunately, this was around the time that Aoni had his mental breakdown. No matter how hard he tried to shield her from it, the well-established LoS between Glacia and him was not something that could be easily overcome, so like a one-way radio playing on its highest setting, all of his sorrow and anguish about Nyria flowed into Glacia.
Startled as she was, she knew the reason behind it and did her best to send comforting flashes of shapes and colors to him, as that's how the floof saw the world, and to some extent, it may have helped Aoni.
However, he was lost, falling into the darkness that is depression, and it was Glacia's instinct to rush to his side; yet, the words from earlier echoed in her mind, so no matter how bad she wanted to be by his side, she couldn't.
Her eyes never left the opening above the sheet metal, as she understood the moment Aoni appeared, she could rush to him and check how her Lord was. Left with no other option and filled with helplessness, she continued taking care of her little sister.
With a gentle nudge here, a pat or two there, Glacia passed the time until she felt Aoni returning to normal, or at the very least, some semblance of his regular state, causing the floof a great amount of relief as she laid her head down and snuggled up to her new sister.
Soon enough, the pair of Floof and Bird were sleeping the day away until the moment of Aoni's little fuck up.
Even if the lad had done his best to mute the sound, that didn't do much about the vibrations that rumbled through the floor and walls of the cave.
So when it occurred, Glacia's ears twitched before her eyes shot wide open, and she lifted her head to look around.
Sniffing the air a few times, she noticed nothing new scent-wise and looked in the direction of the doorway for several minutes; however, when her Lord didn't return, she stuck to his words, laid her head back down, and eventually drifted back off to sleep.
A couple of hours later, another strange and scary occurrence happened; startled awake by a loud thud, Glacia's head once again snapped toward the doorway, only this time, a sense of dread cascaded over her like a waterfall, as Aoni's fear and confusion flooded through the Los. Then something strange happened. The floof, who was already accustomed to using Energia since she had to channel it into her feet when running atop the snow, sensed a strange occurrence: a massive circulation of Energia began forming on the other side of the wall.
Worse yet was the powerful wind kicking up and blowing through the bedroom. Unsure of what it was or if it could potentially harm her little sister, Glacia sprung into action.
Carefully pulling away from Nyria, she caught the edge of her body pillow and closed the U-shape as much as possible, forming a near-perfect circle around the sleeping bird.
Next, she wiggled around in such a manner that she was able to completely close off the empty spaces using her body until not a spec of the gusting Energia winds could touch a single feather on the bird's body.
In a sense, she was only replicating the things she had seen Aoni do for her in the past, like during the Avalanche.
Now that her sister was covered up and safely out of potential harm's way, Glacia's attention was directed back toward Aoni; she could hear him slam into the wall and grunt, and her keen sense of hearing could even pick up on how rapidly his heart was beating alongside his pained grunts.
"Take Care of her, Glacia. Your little sister needs you…."
Through all of this, Aoni's words played in her mind on repeat, making her body tremble as she was blasted ceaselessly by the Energia Wind for several minutes.@@novelbin@@
It didn't hurt, but it certainly wasn't comfortable. Due to her small size and lack of weight, it took a significant amount of strength on the floof's part to stay perfectly still, and when the winds finally died down, along with her Lord's condition stabilizing, only then did Glacia double-check that her sister was still asleep before finally relenting and slowly drifting off again into the land of dreams.
What she didn't know, however, was that contrary to what she believed, Nyria…had been awake since the moment Aoni shattered the Sapphire Orb; through barely open eyes, the young fledgling had seen all of Glacia's efforts to protect her, and it brought a sense of belonging that Nyria hadn't felt since she didn't know when.
