Shu Pan was being capricious for the first time. Usually, she would just laugh off such things.

But Xia Xiaoqiao made her feel uneasy, visibly; the first time she saw this girl, she felt that her ambitions were written all over her face, which made her quite uncomfortable.

She didn’t care what Gu Shaoting thought, he probably thought she was making a fuss over nothing, but she didn’t mind. She didn’t want to suppress her feelings anymore.

Gu Shaoting noticed her mood had improved a lot and chuckled lightly. “What a silly girl. Can’t she feel how I treat her?”

He reached out his hand, pulled her closer, and then traced circles on the palm of her hand with his fingertips.

Shu Pan shyly glared at him, “What are you doing? Doctors and nurses are constantly coming in and out. It’s so embarrassing.”

Gu Shaoting’s lips curled up, “Let them be envious.”

“Be serious.” Sometimes he just didn’t consider the situation at all.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

“Come in.” Following Shu Pan’s response, the door was pushed open.

Gu Huanhuan came in holding a thermos, wearing a face mask, which she removed upon seeing them.

“Brother, you really are something. I come back and you give me such a big surprise? What did the doctor say? Is it serious?” Gu Huanhuan exclaimed in surprise.

“Why did you come?” Gu Shaoting asked, frowning.

“I just got back from the set this morning. I forgot my keys, and I was supposed to get them from Uncle Wen at the hospital. I just happened to meet Auntie Li outside, and she told me. So I brought breakfast over for you,” Gu Huanhuan was genuinely startled by the news.

It turns out he was injured and hospitalized.

“What exactly happened?” Gu Huanhuan was puzzled.

“Nothing much. Just got stabbed by a thug,” Gu Shaoting spoke lightly. He didn’t want to go over the process again.

“What? Brother, you didn’t make enemies, did you?” Gu Huanhuan worried he was retaliated against.

“Your brother was playing the hero to save the beauty, so he got stabbed. The doctor said luckily it wasn’t fatal. Just needs some rest,” Shu Pan added quietly from the side.

“Brother, still, measure your abilities, okay?” Gu Huanhuan disagreed.

“Alright, I know. You should take more care of the family and not be filming every day,” Gu Shaoting quickly changed the subject.

Shu Pan didn’t join the siblings’ conversation. She took the thermos and poured the congee into a bowl.

Auntie Li’s cooking skills had improved; the congee was thick and emitted a delicious fragrance that whetted one’s appetite.

Shu Pan held the bowl and gently blew on it. Gu Shaoting hadn’t eaten a thing last night and was probably starving by now.

While Gu Shaoting and Gu Huanhuan were still chatting, Shu Pan spooned a bit of the cooled-down congee and fed it to Gu Shaoting.@@novelbin@@
