In the evening, when Song Jie returned home, Madam Song was waiting for him in the hall.

Song Jie paused for a moment, usually at this time, she would have already been asleep, yet today she hadn’t. It looked as though she was waiting for him.

“Mom, I will discuss it with her family, and let her family announce the dissolution of the engagement.” Song Jie said.

“I disagree, Shen Yue is such a good girl, she even came to see me this afternoon, understanding and caring. Marrying her would be your good fortune.” Madam Song spoke kindly and warmly.

Song Jie then realized Shen Yue had visited.

She must have come right after leaving his office, her schemes were quite something.

Song Jie pursed his lips, feeling even more uncomfortable, always having a sense of being schemed against.

Song Jie felt a nagging pain in his forehead. He knew his mother’s personality all too well.

“Alright, we’ll talk about it later, I still have some work I haven’t finished yet, I need to go do that.” Song Jie said helplessly.

Seeing her son still busy so late, Madam Song also couldn’t bear to continue, so she instructed him to rest early.

Song Jie sat in his study, his mind tumultuous. The engagement felt like a thorn stuck in his throat, making him very uncomfortable.

“I don’t know, but to dissolve the engagement, Madam Song might not agree; she still thinks highly of me.” Shen Yue said confidently.

“That’s good, just don’t let any chaos happen.” Shen Yue’s mother prayed.

“Mom, where’s second brother?” Shen Yue asked.

“Who knows where he’s loitering again.” Shen Yue’s mother said in annoyance.
