Life didn't get easier, even in another world.

Chương 423: Not someone from a past life

Chương 423: Not someone from a past life

A bright beam flashed in the sky. A shade of red enveloped the world. Skies shook and the earth quacked. Powers clashed. The air boiled. Earsplitting roars echoed as thunders descended akin to a cascade of light. @@novelbin@@

'What in the world...'

Kairen almost choked on his breath. The scene unfolding before his eyes looked like the end of the world, the true episode of annihilation. His brother, holding Kairen, wrapped his arms around the tattered body and held him close while creating walls of dirt and stone to shield them from whatever was going to happen next. Anyone else would've thrown away any burden and fled for their lives, but Aaron didn't seem to have any intention of moving an inch even when the world seemed to be about to end.

However, for some reason, Kairen couldn't feel scared. What was spreading inside his being was concern rather than fear.

"...Roy."

'What do you plan on doing?'

He couldn't voice out his words. His damaged body just didn't allow him to.

This didn't feel right. Something was happening that shouldn't happen. It wasn't just a feeling, but almost a premonition; something he couldn't deny.

And he needed to stop it, whatever it was.

"Mister!"

At his call, the red-haired man, for a brief moment, shifted his eyes to Kairen, gazing at him for a mere one second or two.

'What's with that face you are making...'

That wasn't the expression of someone who was about to win in a thousands-year struggle. What's with that strange gaze? Hey? Say something? What's on your mind?

As if reading through Kairen's thoughts, a smile bloomed across Roy's face as his lips parted into the shape of spoken words, words that were barely audible in the booming background and hardly understandable to Kairen.

"I've used it well."

'Huh...?'

Used what?

Roy looked away from him the moment the sentence was spoken and put both hands on the machine. Before Kairen could grasp the meaning of those words, an intense shockwave spread all around. Kairen's dim vision wavered and blurred up even more due to the blinding crimson light that shot out of the machine.

"Let me go!"

As he struggled to set free, Kairen did his best to keep his eyes open. His gaze was fixed on the sole figure standing inside the light, which was gradually fading from sight.

"You, cough, you can't do that!"

The scattered old memories in his mind screamed something ominous, telling him that he needed to stop this man, that he was trying to finish what he failed to do 3000 years ago, that if he didn't interrupt him right now, he'd never be able to see him ever again.

Was he trying to go against Samuel using this method? As much as he could understand, Samuel's plan was to reverse the whole structure of the universe by crashing the chain. Kairen barely managed to reach such a conclusion after receiving all of Reynols' memories and his knowledge, which was directly handed to him by Roy.
