Life Of A Nobody - as a Villain

Chapter 470: Back to the ground

Ignoring the glares and grinding noise from the gods, Rio walked over to the altar.

The legacy of Aelthar was protected by divine magic, with no way to bypass it without the god's permission.

But with Aelthar now dead, the magic protecting his legacy had disappeared too.

With a wave of his hand, a deep pit of 2 meters appeared on the ground. And the altar and the legacy marks _ both got stored within Rio's storage ring.

Only after doing this, did he finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Finally it's over.

He muttered as he just stood there with his head down, staring at the ground and breathing calmly.

His mind had been through too much in the past couple of hours, from fierce battles, to barraging memories, to dreamy torment, and then to endless torture, - he was feeling too tired now.

All the stress, pain, anger - with this legacy in hand - he finally let go of everything and took a long breath.

"I did it." He muttered under his breath and clenched his fists, with a satisfied smile on his face.

"We should leave. The battle had already broken this dungeon, _ and it won't be long before it completely crashes. So let's get out before that happens." Akun, the leader amongst Nyx's followers, placed his hand on Rio's shoulder and notified him.

During the battle, Aelthar had sucked all traces of life in this dungeon to get stronger, _ and it was only due to the legacy secured within, that this dungeon was still stable.

But since Rio had already ripped that final source of magic and stored it away _ this dungeon had simply lost it's core.

Akun's words brought Rio's attention back to reality, and as he looked up, he could see the cracks in the sky and feel the tremors under his feet _ ..

With a sigh, he nodded his head, and turned to leave. Only to stumble and nearly fall to the ground _ if Akun hadn't grabbed him and supported him at the last moment.

His legs simply had no strength left anymore.

With that momentary rest earlier, his adrenaline wore off and his worn out body could finally feel the brunt of his spenditure.

Akun took out a potion, and tried to pour it into his mouth, but Rio shook his head.

He had taken too many potions in such a short time, that drinking any more now probably wouldn't work much. And may only damage his foundation.

After all, that's what his system informed him too.

"Take her." Rio ordered pointing towards Katherine, who lost all her strength after the previous outburst and was panting heavily on the ground.

[Fate _ such a silly.] System spoke what Rio thought in his mind.

The heroine was still bleeding from her chest, _ cause instead of healing her injuries after waking up, she stepped forward to save Leon first.

Priorities….heh.

One of the hooded figures surrounding him stepped back and went to help Katherine, while all the others kept moving towards the exit portal.

"You didn't call me at all." Akun said, stuffing the calling token, Rio gave him earlier after entering the dungeon, back into his hands.

Though too tired, Rio couldn't help but smile hearing this complaint.

From Akun's voice he could sense his displeasure, but Rio didn't care.

Maybe the follower was afraid that Nyx would be angry since he didn't protect her avatar better, but Rio ignored it.

First of all, even though he trusted Nyx to have his back, he didn't know or trust these people.

Second, not like any of them could be of much help against Aelthar, who showed his true form.

Aura of divine isn't something mortals can bear, and it was only with system's help that he could stand straight and fight fair.

And third and most important, experiment number 37, whose results were -

{The favorite puppets of fate are the no name extras. Cause unlike named characters whose traits and personalities are fixed, they're like jokers or blank chits in a card game, which can be turned into any character, and used freely depending on the situation.}

Aelthar's legacy was too important a plot point, and Rio didn't want to risk letting some stranger near, who could suddenly turn tables.

Plus he had a different goal for publicity by leaving them alone…

With thoughts like these Rio reached the exit portal. His eyes were blurry but he could see someone guarding the portal, stabilizing it with various space treasures and sealing talismans.

"Hurry up. The channel's getting too turbulent." The hooded figure spoke with urgency, telling everyone to rush through.

Rio glanced at the flickering portal and then to his back where the previous altar had now formed a black hole and started sucking everything inside, - he clenched his hands at this familiar sight, before closing his eyes and stepping into the portal.

The teleportation this time wasn't as smooth as he would've hoped. His whole body felt the jerk and trembling in the tunnel like space, causing his head to go groggy and senses to be numb.

By the time Rio got out of this trance, he only felt his back hurt from the shockwave as the dungeon disappeared behind them, and a cotton padded hammer like hit from his front as something crashed into him, and choked his chest.

"Fuck…. You." Rio muttered, first in pain and then in realisation as his eyes landed on the figure of Becca tightly hugging him.

"Ouh ouhh awww. That hurts." Rio screached under flinched brows as he pushed the crazy girl who bit his neck in response to his previous remark..

"Hmm idiot." Rebecca mocked as she slapped his chest and backed away.

Only then did she notice how pale he was, with only the color of red and golden blood being the highlight over his casual clothes.

(Where'd the portal go? Why did the dungeon disappeared?)

(Fuck, where will we mine and get all our resources from now on?)

(What the hell happened in this dungeon? First the baron's son Leon got teleported with his tattered bones, and now even the angel is covered in blood.)

(God, I hope he's not hurt. We just got him back.)

(That's golden ichor…the church was right. Rio really did fight a God.)

(Damn. I'm gonna post it on whispers. This is so good. Mom, I'm gonna be viral.)

(The miners said Leon saved them, but then who hurt him like this?)

(Fuck, that's Katherine Winston. Damn it, which bastard dared to hurt my darling. I'm going to murder him.)

(Fuhhh, just you? I think you'll more like to piss your pants if you saw those mutated monsters.)

(Why you little …)

Rio's arrival didn't go unnoticed by the crowd which had gathered outside the portal. And from the whispers of the few leading lines he could hear, it seems everyone had some opinions about what happened.

"Leon…" Rio heard something about the hero and glanced towards a corner where a gorgeous tent was made, guarded by the minions and soldiers of the Heartwell family.

His eyes shone in silver, and his gaze immediately bypassed all the barriers and landed on Leon's figure, wrapped in bandages like a mummy dug out from ancient pyramids.

[His bones are still broken and will take atleast a few weeks to heal.]

[Though I doubt Hela's poison will do any harm to him, with those purifying flames covering his heart and all.]

System assessed Leon's situation and answered him before he even asked.

'I should really just find a chance and kill him.' Rio thought, murderous intent flashing through his eyes as he remembered how close the hero was to actually sending him to the other side.

[.....] System wanted to say something, but feeling the piercing gaze of a certain someone, it shut it's mouth. Pretending to be dead.

"Hey, you listening. I'm asking if you're okay? You're not hurt, are you?" Becca asked again while shaking his shoulders, her worried eyes tracing the dried blood stains and searching around his whole body for any signs of injuries.

But before he could answer her question, another girl came who pushed her aside and hugged him.

"Brother, I was so worried." Amy said, gently hugging him with her arms.

"Gauri said you were up against a …"

"I'm fine."

Rio replied, interrupting Amy who was about to reveal the truth.

Amy too looked around and sensed the hungry eyes and pricked up ears looking for news and gossip _ and chose to remain silent.

"The transport is ready. Come with me." Finn's words came from a side as a magical magnificent floating ship swooped down from the clouds and stopped in front of them.

"Rio, are you okay?"

"Can you tell us what happened in the dungeon?"

"Why did this dungeon suddenly disappear?"

"What kind of monsters did you face?"

"Who hurt Leon like that?"

"The miners didn't even see the shadows of the followers from temple of night? Why didn't they come forward to protect anyone else?"

"Who will take responsibility for this dungeon crash? The empire will suffer severe losses due to this disappearance."

"We sensed a terrifying aura which even spread outside the portal, can you tell us what was that?"

Seeing the ship coming, instantly the hesitating crowd of paparazzi's turned into psycho reporters filled with courage of chicken blood _ but guards from Raven family immediately unsheathed their weapons and thumped them on the ground.

Their intent clear, that if anyone took a step further, only death awaited them.

Rio ignored the crowd, and glanced to his back, where Baron Misha was going crazy seeing his precious daughter being hurt.

The presence of care and act of worry on that fat face while tears streamed through that double chin _ really opened Rio's eyes as to what a good actor and dedicated performance really means.

Ignoring this guy, Rio's gaze landed on Katherine's figure, who too turned her head away from Leon's tent and glanced in his direction.

Their eyes met, and for a second, different thoughts and emotions flashed through both of their minds.

While Rio still couldn't reel in his newly surfaced memories, Katherine simply looked at him, like only today, did she see the real him.

And for some reason that frightened her.

"Brother, let's go." Finn spoke again, placing his hand over Rio's back, signaling him to step up.

Rio nodded his head and turned to look up. Seeing the floating ship, he instinctively tried to summon his wings and float upwards, only to frown in pain as his mana backfired mid spell. A trace of blood trickled through his lips, which Becca wiped with her sleeve.

Amy was about to teleport Rio directly inside a cabin onto the ship, but Rebecca stopped her and pointed forwards. Where a wooden stairway expended in front of them.

"Let's not use mana around him, and let him recover slowly." She said and simply helped him walk normally.

"Where are we going?" Rebecca asked, once they were all on the ship and away from the maddening crowd chit-chating and chirping like cicadas.

Finn looked at Rio who was sitting on a bed with closed eyes, meditating and recovering by himself, _ and then at Amy, who was staring down at the city. Her eyes darting through every street, every corner with crazy bloodlust oozing out of her aura.

"Grandpa wants to meet you. Both of you." He spoke, and pointed towards the mansion in outskirts of Harendale, where Ravens stayed.

Hearing about that man, Rebecca didn't ask anything further, and stepped aside to inform her father.
