Limitless Summoner: Rise of the Soul God

Chapter 107 Just will it and it's yours to command

"Okay," Ethan answered, his voice hoarse. He did not know why but felt like he was making a deal with the devil. However, there was no hesitation in his decision. What else was he supposed to do here?@@novelbin@@

Refuse a person who is actually willing to teach him something and not be completely useless? So far he had only relied on his summons to survive but he did not want to continue like that. He felt vulnerable despite an army standing in front of him to defend him.

Call him paranoid, but he could only relax if he had some power of his own. Some capabilities to take care of his enemies by himself.

Besides, he needed some time to think of a plan to hatch an escape route from this city. He once again had a target on his back and he was also not comfortable with this old woman's sudden interest in him.

He had hoped that this would just be a simple menial job apprenticeship and he could lay low for some days. That ship had sailed. He had to adapt now. Make a new plan.

Looking at him, the old woman's lips curved into a sly smile. "Smart boy," she purred, her voice dripping with satisfaction. "You might just survive after all." She turned away, her robes swishing as she moved toward the door.

"Finish your breakfast. I expect you to be in the study in fifteen minutes. Don't be late." Her gaze flicked to Lia and the little girl, "You two make sure to clean everything in the house. You better not be slacking when I get back."

Ethan watched her leave, the air growing noticeably lighter as Miss Agnes's presence faded down the hallway.

He glanced at Lia, who was humming softly as she cleared the dishes, the little girl mimicking her movements with a cheerful grin. The both of them didn't seem all that unhappy with the old hag's attitude.

He stood up and gave his plate to Lia. "I am sorry for putting you in this position."

Lia looked confused. "What happened, Master?"

He pointed towards the dishes and her having to work. Lia once again blinked in confusion. "This is just normal work that any apprentice is expected to do, Master. I am just glad I am able to help you."

"I am also happy to help, big brother." The little girl grinned.

Ethan patted Lia and then patted the little idiot who charged at him, demanding pats. He did not linger any longer and went to join the old hag in the study.

Though he was paranoid about all of this new development and being near this unknown person who held so much power over him, a part of him was also excited to see what she had to offer him. If he could finally learn some magic…

He clenched his fists and stepped inside the study room with full determination. "Oh, you are here. Come and dust all of these bookshelves."

Ethan's jaw tightened, his fingers twitching at his sides. Of course, she was going to make this as difficult as possible. He looked at the bookshelves, towering and ancient, filled with dusty tomes and strange artifacts that glowed faintly in the dim light. There was enough dust on those shelves to choke a horse, and she wanted him to clean everything?

He instantly felt the urge to face-palm. Why did he even think this old hag was going to teach him something? She was never going to teach him anything, was she?

"I can read your thoughts, boy. Stop cursing me in your head and pay attention. I want you to clean the bookshelves but without using your hands. Do you understand?"

Huh? Ethan looked confused. Did she already know about my summons? Does she want me to use my minions?

Miss Agnes's eyes gleamed with wicked amusement as she watched him, her arms folded over her chest. "Spirit magic," she drawled, her voice dripping with condescension. "Use your mana, your willpower. Command the dust to move. Or are you really as useless as you look?"

Ethan rolled his eyes inwardly. If he knew how to cast Harry Potter level spells, then why would he be here in the first place. "I don't know how to do that." He swallowed his frustration.

"What is there to know about it, you little fool? Just will it and its yours to command. I will be back in a few hours. All of this better be clean." With a cold snort, she turned and walked out of the room, slamming the door shut behind her.

Ethan stood there completely dumbfounded. What the heck? What the fucking fuck balls just happened?

His shoulders slumped, frustration boiling under his skin. Just will it, huh? Easy for her to say. He had no idea how to control his mana. Hell, he barely even understood what it was. In his old life, magic was just fiction, the stuff of books and movies. But here, it was real, and he was hopelessly out of his depth.

Ethan closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. His gaze turned towards the bookshelf and he suddenly realized he was standing in a room full of resources he could learn from.

Fuck dusting. He was going to comb through every book on this shelf and learn something today. That old witch can suck it for all he cared.

He excitedly ran to the shelf and stared at the few books in front of him when a small glaring detail he had overlooked stared right back at his face. The language.

Sure, he understood the local language and was able to communicate with it even read it and write but this language on the books was completely different. No matter how much he stared at it, he did not understand anything. He couldn't read the name of the book or even take a guess at what the book could be about.

Oh, fuck me sideways. His day was just refusing to get better.
