Chapter 838 834 We Want to See Blood Flow into a River
A heavy object hit the ground.
The thud echoed through the nearly still air, reverberating, shaking loose a fine dust.
In the silent ancient tomb, it was as if it was being proclaimed with a loudspeaker.
For Bi Fang, whose senses were extremely sharp, this sound was as impossible to ignore as looking directly into the sun. He instinctively pressed down on his torch, reducing the scope of the light and concealing himself within the darkness.
The already dim space became even more blurry. The drone had to switch to night-vision mode, otherwise the audience would have been unable to see Bi Fang's movements and expressions.
"What happened, why did it suddenly become tense?"
"Looks like someone else came in?"
"That sound just now, it really resembled the sound of Master Fang landing the first time he came in."
"Who is it, someone from Egypt?"
"Could it possibly be an animal?"
"Whether it's a human or a ghost, come out for a stroll."
After discovering that the sand cave truly led to an ancient tomb, Bi Fang had the viewers in the live streaming room notify the Egyptian authorities.
Could it be that the official personnel have arrived?
Many viewers speculated.
"It may not be official personnel." Bi Fang weighed his words carefully, paused, and then decided to speak up, "Otherwise, there shouldn't be silence now."
The audience was startled at first upon hearing this. After some pondered carefully, a few quick-reacting netizens immediately explained the rationale, and everyone understood Bi Fang's point.
Right.
If it were indeed official personnel, why was there no sound after their entrance?
Was the other party being cautious about something?
Moreover, if the officials truly did arrive, it wouldn't just be one person, hence there should have been more than one landing sound.
But after the initial sound of landing faded away, the ancient tomb once again fell into silence.
As for the possibility of it being an animal...
It was possible.
But the likelihood was far less than that of human intrusion.
The half-meter cave was not large for humans, but for the majority of animals, it was far beyond their size. The largest reptile in the desert would not enter such a large cave to forage for food.
Both parties seemed to freeze in mid-air, separated by several meters of earth, both ceasing their activity simultaneously.
"Red light, green light, one, two, three."
"Is it a Tomb Robber following Master Fang?"
"Rather than a Tomb Robber, I think it's more like an ordinary person who saw the livestream and then rushed over to take advantage of the situation."
"Indeed, the opportunity to strike it rich is right in front of us."
Some truths always emerge in the midst of casual jokes.
"No signal?"
A young man with wavy long hair held up his phone in the pitch-black tomb, trying to catch a whisper of signal, but to no avail.
The livestream paused in darkness, with a small, white, spinning circle in the center.
"Why does the drone have a signal, but my phone doesn't?"
The man found it hard to believe, but before he could ponder further, a warning sound from above made him step aside, and another man, looking older, climbed straight down, assisted carefully by the first man without making any noise.
The older man, upon steadying himself, immediately grabbed the wavy-haired man by the arm with the light from the phone and demanded, "Didn't you say you would send me a message once you got down here?"
The wavy-haired man lifted his phone to the man's face, indicating his effort, and defended himself, "I wanted to, but there's no signal on the phone."
"No signal? What do we do now?" The second man sounded anxious, "Does that mean we can't watch the livestream anymore?"
While the two discussed, another sound came from above.
"Move aside!"
The two had just stepped back to prepare to catch the last person, only to be surprised as the individual jumped down.
Thump. The dull sound of landing resonated once more in the dark channel.
"Be careful!"
"The noise was too loud!"
"We've been discovered."
The last person to enter the cave held up his phone, showing the other two the screen, still spinning in a circle, but this time the screen did not show pitch-blackness but displayed Bi Fang, standing still, leaning against a wall.
"Jabari, you made too much noise coming down."
"So what do we do now?"
"Hurry up, if there's anything valuable, take it! Take as much as you can."
The audience in the livestream guessed it right.
These were three ordinary people living near these Pyramids.
Jabari, the wavy-haired young man, saw the news on his phone, reporting the discovery of a new ancient Egyptian tomb, and to his realization, this new tomb was actually near their village!
The most exciting thing was that the tomb had just been discovered, by a broadcaster no less, and the official personnel had not yet arrived—there was only one person inside!
When Ancient Egyptians were alive, they devoutly and confidently prepared for their afterlife.
Every wealthy Egyptian was busy preparing their own tomb and decorating it with various items, in hopes of attaining eternal life after death.
Pharaohs or nobles would even spend years, decades even, building their tombs, ordering craftsmen to sustain activities such as sailing, Hunting, feasting, along with depicting scenes that a servant ought to do—all to ensure they could live as comfortably and wishfully after death as they did before.
Hence, every Egyptian knew that a Pharaoh's tomb was filled with treasures, gold everywhere; just taking one item could secure them a life without worries, no longer trapped in this remote village, no need to go to the city for work every year.
Therefore, Jabari quickly found his two elder brothers and told them the fact.
Without any ideological struggle, the three brothers immediately decided to have a big score here.
Since they had already been discovered, there was no need for any more disguise.
The three ran swiftly through the corridor, their flashlights illuminating everything ahead far superior to any torch, and leaving nothing hidden in their path.
The sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the passageway, undeniably human.
"Our people haven't arrived!"
"These are Tomb Robbers!"
The Egyptian authorities' notification finally caught up, and now there were no doubts among the audience.
These were three mice who had broken into the tomb!
"Two, no, three people."
Bi Fang's ears trembled slightly, even through several meters of earth, the tomb was incredibly silent; by slowing his breathing, he could even hear his own heartbeat.
The burning torch cracked with faint sounds.
He had to stop them!
Without much thought, Bi Fang made his decision.
The only reference point that could have revealed his location during his live stream was likely the pyramid on the ground.
Even though there was a pyramid, the location was still quite remote; the pyramid only provided a rough area.
From the discovery of the relic to now, less than half an hour had passed, and even the officials hadn't arrived yet. If someone could approach this location, it was either by some fortunate coincidence, stumbling upon the same good luck as he did, or the person lived in one of the nearby villages, which explained the sensitivity to the location!
As for the former possibility, the probability was simply too low. Without the System notifying them of nearby relics, seeing a big hole in the ground wouldn't spur anyone to suddenly decide to come in and take a look.
If they lived nearby, then things would be easy, just a few petty thieves.
Egypt prohibits firearms, and compared to the rest of Africa, it can still be considered a relatively peaceful country.
As the first person to discover the relic, Bi Fang naturally had a certain duty to protect it.
Looking back at the hole he'd jumped down, Bi Fang took two steps back, then leaped upward, arms bracing against the passage as he climbed up bit by bit.
Since they were petty thieves, they wouldn't be able to leave the tomb as untouched as he did.
To minimize damage, Bi Fang couldn't stay in the chamber to wait, but had to strike out proactively, to nip the problem in the bud.
Climbing into the chamber, relying on memory, Bi Fang quickly headed toward the source of the noise.
Oddly enough, although Bi Fang was in a running position, the entire process was silent, as quiet as a cheetah. The wind in the passage pushed out to the sides, raising a large amount of dust from the ground and forming a noticeable path.
Bi Fang's footfalls landed in an extremely swift manner, from back to front, from outside to inside, with the edge hitting the ground first and then the inside of the entire sole pressing down, before instantly pushing off with force to sprint forward.
This was the Fox Step running technique, impossible to achieve without extensive training, and beginners were highly prone to spraining their ankles.
However, there was a downside—while maintaining silence, it was naturally impossible to run at a very high speed.
One had to give and take; at this point, Bi Fang's speed was about twenty seconds per hundred meters, but that was still extremely fast. Many people couldn't even manage ten seconds for fifty meters.
[Damn, damn, damn, how was that done?]
[Teach me, Church of Bi Fang!]
[Ninjutsu, it has to be ninjutsu!]
[The other guy might as well start beating a drum when he runs, the difference in strength is clear at a glance!]
[We want to see blood flow like a river!!!]
With the swift movement, the torch's flame was pressed down to its smallest, flickering precariously. Bi Fang glanced at it twice before suddenly flinging the flame out with a forceful swing of his arm.
A wisp of blue smoke rose, unfortunately unseen by anyone. In night-vision mode, the viewers couldn't make out the faint smoke.
The entire passage plunged into pitch blackness, with only the messy footsteps of the three intruders in the tomb remaining.
Since ancient times, there have always been remarkable individuals who could see in the dark, and Bi Fang was one of them.
This was not some extraordinary ability; with long-term training, normal humans could achieve it as well.
But ultimately, this ability still required a certain amount of light.
Twenty meters underground, not even a single beam of natural light could penetrate such a thick surface.
Down here, even people with excellent night vision couldn't make out anything clearly.
But Bi Fang was able to navigate turns, backsteps, and advance precisely in complete darkness, not at all like someone in the dark.
In fact, Bi Fang wasn't relying on sight but on his memory.
Having walked through the chambers once in its entirety, Bi Fang didn't need any more light to find his way; his memory alone was precise enough to guide him.
The whole labyrinth-like chamber was like a living map in his head, the length of every corridor especially clear.
With his exceptional sense of distance and balance, Bi Fang's steps were almost identical, much like a robot!
Lifting a torch in the darkness could certainly illuminate the way forward, but to creatures living in darkness, it instead became an attractant.
"Why is it so quiet?"
"We've got three people, the other side is probably scared out of their wits."
"Find anything valuable?"
"Nothing, just some junk. Damn it, are these rotten woods worth anything?"
"Talk about taking them out if you can."
The eldest, also the last one to enter the cave, pinched a piece of broken wood and easily crushed it into powder.
The cave was quite damp by nature, and the wood retained only its shape here; it would crumble into debris at the slightest touch.
"Could there really be a curse from the Pharaoh here?"
The youngest, Jabari, chattered his teeth.
The flashlight beam hit the wall, creating a bright circular patch.
Within that circle, the dense and complex mural seemed inexplicably sinister.
One after another, the brown, abstract figures uniformly performed the same action, as if a mysterious presence was descending upon them.
"That's all a hoax to scare off tomb robbers; no one believes in that anymore."
Second Brother explained briefly and, filled with hope, headed towards the next crossroad.
But just as he turned, a powerfully taut arm, like a steel cable, ferociously slammed into his abdomen, like a nail gun firing steel nails.
Intense pain exploded in his brain, wave after wave, increasing incessantly, threatening to tear him in half.
The man's face twisted excruciatingly, but he couldn't make a sound.
He had been hit so hard that he was winded, unable to let out any sound from his throat.
The viewers watching through night vision only felt a twinge in their teeth as if they were the ones being attacked.
An unconscious secretion of saliva.
Even Bi Fang himself was stunned for a moment, not realizing that the opponent was so easy to take down.
From the feedback of his fist, the other party was a complete amateur, without any professional training.
The man's abdomen had no muscle at all, as soft as a piece of putty.
"Dier, got anything?"
Dier wanted to respond, but his physiological reactions stopped him; he even wondered if he was dying.
Bi Fang, knowing the other two were about to come around the corner, pressed down on the man's chest and gently laid him on the ground.
At this point, the man was like a statue, letting Bi Fang do as he pleased.
Although Bi Fang's punch had been extremely powerful, the spot he struck was the lower abdomen, right around the navel.
This area, dense with nerves but lacking vital organs and merely housing intestines, provided an effective strike without easily killing someone.
Bi Fang listened carefully for footsteps; they weren't far away and had already reached the corner after the inquiry.
As if by a proven formula, he delivered another punch, identical to the first.
The second man collapsed onto the floor.
Next to the man, Jabari blinked, looking at his two brothers convulsing on the ground. His knees nearly buckled, but then a surge of energy suddenly erupted from within him, driving him to turn and flee.
Watching his retreating figure, Bi Fang clicked his tongue at the torch in his hand and hurled it forward with force.
Accompanied by a dull sound, Jabari fell to the ground in defeat.
The flashlight rolled to the corner of the wall.
What do you think?
