Lord Evolution: Starting With SS-rank Skills

Chapter 243 The Cult ( 13 )

WINTERSEED II

Unlike Winterseed, Winterseed II has remained noticeably peaceful since Rowan and Ren departed — their new deputy Lord has been performing his role with commendable diligence, ensuring the village remains as serene and harmonious as possible.

The farms became more productive, with the farmers growing even more dedicated and content in their work.

The military had become noticeably stronger thanks to Dragun's display of strength when he assisted them in defeating the monster horde that was targeting their village. The village had even introduced a new combat training lesson for the younger generation who aspired to join the adults when they grew older.

Every day, the children, both male and female, gather at the village square to swing wooden swords and perform rigorous basic exercises such as running and a few simple arm workouts to strengthen their little arms.

As for the other aspects of the village, they had improved remarkably beyond their usual state.

Nevertheless, while the village was developing splendidly, the people remained deeply concerned about Ren's condition, especially his wife and daughters who could not go a day without thinking about their father.

They had not received any news from Rowan regarding his condition, which only served to make them even more worried.

"Mother, do you think Father is alright?" the daughters inquired anxiously.

"I am absolutely certain that the ancestors watch over your father; he will definitely be alright," Maryanne replied, though she did not truly believe her own words.

While she was extremely worried, she strove to keep her daughter from becoming as anxious as she herself was.

Apart from Ren's family, the villagers were also deeply concerned about his condition, especially the little children whom he always treated with his special concoction every time they injured themselves from playing too much.

All in all, they fervently prayed for Ren's speedy recovery as well as for the return of Rowan, their beloved lord.

DARK FOREST!

The morning sun had unveiled its radiant glow as it descended upon the chaotic scene of a bloody battlefield, strewn with the corpses of tens of thousands of monsters and a few human bodies.

THUMP!

THUMP!

The loud, horrifying footsteps of the gigantic monsters approaching the battlefield blasted across a wide region; every small animal lurking nearby that heard the commotion dispersed quickly for its own safety.

Nevertheless, standing in the middle of the battlefield were Rowan and his pets.

Blaze stood gallantly beside him, its fur glowing with a vivid, fiery aura.

Flying high above, Black Drifter observed the gigantic monsters approaching.

"Can you tell how many they are?" Rowan asked.

[Twelve]

"Hmm, not so many but considering their strength and size, this will take a very long time," he muttered.

The footsteps had already grown louder and clearer, and the quake had become so intense, signifying the nearness of the gigantic monsters.

The trees on the path of the monsters fell as they drew closer.

More and more trees fell.

At that moment, the towering monsters suddenly appeared on the battlefield.

Each monster was over four times Rowan's height, and they moved with deliberate, heavy steps on two powerful legs. Their bodies were cloaked in dense red skin that dripped with an unknown, crimson, jelly-like substance, leaving a chilling trail with every step.

Suddenly, the colossal creatures came to an abrupt halt. Their dark eyes fixed on Rowan and his pet, their gaze reminiscent of a lion observing its helpless prey.

Their abrupt halt left Rowan momentarily confused; weren't they expected to launch an immediate attack, given how feeble he and his pet appeared? Or were they focused on quantity rather than quality, and not provoked by their small numbers?

While his mind pondered this, he did not forget to check the rank of these monsters and their names, since he had not ever encountered anything like them before.

[ Red-dooms - C-rank Boss ] [ Health: 100% ] [ Skills: Smash, venom spray, venom control, venom blast, crimson sneeze, ... ] [ Status: Preying ]

As expected, they possessed undeniably scary skills.

Rowan understood most of the skills on the skill tabs of the monsters. From those skills, he could already predict that the weird crimson liquid dripping from their bodies was poisonous.

He quickly warned his two pets to avoid them by all means.

Sadly, he could not finish warning his pets when the Red-dooms abruptly attacked after observing for a short time.

SMASH!

The twelve crimson activated the same skill simultaneously — lifting their gigantic legs, they thumped on the ground at once, creating a strong quake and a powerful wind pressure that blasted towards Rowan and his pet.

"Disperse!"

Rowan alerted his pet as he sprinted faraway, avoiding the wind pressure drifting in his direction. Black Drifter flapped its wings and flew higher to evade the attack.

Blaze, on the other hand, couldn't react and move away on time, so he quickly created a protective wall of flame to block the attacks.

BOOM!

The powerful wind pressure collided with his wall of flame.

Unfortunately, the wall of flame was too weak to completely block off the force, and Blaze was sent flying backwards over a long distance, hitting his body painfully on a huge tree.

"Too strong," Rowan noted to himself as he received a notification concerning Blaze receiving a pretty critical attack.

HEHE

Rowan could hear the Red-dooms laughing maniacally in unison at the sight of their reactions; they appeared to be enjoying every moment, and it creeped Rowan out.

[ You dare attack my rival! ]

Black Drifter charged furiously, flying towards the Red-dooms and attacking right away.

WIND STRIKE!

He sent numerous powerful wind attacks smashing towards the Red-dooms.

BOOM! BOOM!

The loud, explosive sound of collision reverberated across a small radius.

But it had no effect!

The Red-dooms remained in the same spot without moving; they diverted their attention away from Rowan and channeled it towards the baffled Black Drifter, their faces bearing expressions akin to a disappointed scoff.

Before Black Drifter could come to terms with the fact that one of his strongest attacks was ineffective against them, one of the Red-dooms retaliated.

VENOM SPRAY!

Rowan noticed this, and his eyes widened.

"Do not let any of the liquid touch you!" he quickly barked at Black Drifter while sprinting in the direction of the Red-dooms.
