Lord Evolution: Starting With SS-rank Skills

Chapter 245 The Cult ( 15 )

Since Rowan reincarnated, he has fought and defeated more than ten thousand monsters. Among these foes, more than ten percent were several ranks stronger than him, each possessing unique strength and abilities that rendered them extremely dangerous, yet Rowan survived.

He has personally gone up against boss monsters — even defeating a boss F-rank hobgoblin when he had not yet evolved. A few times, he took on groups of boss monsters all by himself.

However, never once had the system prompted him to run during those fights.

But it was different now.

[ DANGER! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!! ]

The notification, displayed on a glowing red panel indicating danger, appeared right in front of him while he was rejoicing over the rewards he received from slaying his first Red-doom!

Rowan's eyes widened immediately, and his body, guided by a fierce survival instinct, sprinted away from the corpse of the Red-doom that lay near the others.

While sprinting, he heard the terrifying footsteps of the Red-dooms — they had started moving!

Rowan took a quick glance over his shoulder as he ran, and he saw the Red-dooms charging at him with long strides and massive figures, each step releasing an earth-shaking thump.

"Shit!" Rowan cursed.

"They have become more active after the death of their colleague, they're definitely seeking revenge now. This will be difficult—fighting them when they were motionless was hard enough, but now they're all moving and enraged!"

VENOM BLAST!

VENOM CONTROL!

He was still processing the danger when the monsters activated their long-range attacks, noticing that he was moving farther away from them!

"Fuck!" Rowan exclaimed, increasing his sprint as he caught sight of the attacks charging toward him, their speed and power utterly terrifying.

Three enormous balls of venom, shaped like cannonballs, were darting toward him at a breakneck pace. Each of these venom balls was ten times the size of an actual cannonball.

Rowan kept sprinting while observing one venom ball that followed him with uncanny precision—as if it could track him.

Well — it actually could!

The Red-doom activated VENOM CONTROL, which allowed them to manipulate the VENOM BLAST and secure a more advantageous outcome.

With those two skills combined, the chance of survival was minimal. It was no wonder the system had instructed Rowan to run for his life.

Luckily, Rowan had a slight advantage.

"Blaze, activate Inferno Howl—distract them!"

[ Understood ]

Blaze moved closer and positioned itself before activating Inferno Howl—a loud, terrifying howl erupted toward the raging Red-dooms, accompanied by a scorching cone of fire.

Blaze intensified the attack by channeling additional mana into it at a rapid pace.

Thankfully, it served its purpose.

The Red-dooms were easily distracted by the flames and the deafening howl. They halted both their movement and their control over the venom balls, reverting to their usual intimidating stationary state as they focused their attention on Blaze, who had already begun sprinting away to avoid being splattered with venom.

The flying venom balls gradually lost momentum as the Red-dooms stopped controlling them after getting distracted by Blaze.

BOOM! BOOM!! BOOM!!!

The venom balls crashed into huge trees, the venom splattered against the trunks and coalesced into small pools beneath them.

Against humans and animals, the venom drastically reduced their stats. As for the trees, it induced rapid decay that took only about five seconds.

'What if it had similar effects on other targets?'

Just the thought made Rowan tremble.

[ I've fully recovered, master ]

Black Drifter reported as it returned to the sky and hovered above the Red-doom that had ceased moving after Blaze's Inferno Howl.

"Great! I need both of you to assist me from now on, do not attack head-on unless I instruct you to," Rowan quickly formulated a plan in his head.

He shared the plan with his pets, and they sprang into action immediately.

WIND STRIKE!

WHIRLWIND!

FIREBALL!

FIRE DISK!

The pets unleashed a variety of attacks on the Red-doom while staying in view, keeping the Red-dooms locked onto them while Rowan sneaked attacks from behind.

BLADE SAINT!

Rowan's swords glowed brilliantly.

He darted from one location to another amidst the Red-dooms.

He slashed at every vital point he encountered, inflicting great pain and preventing them from using their venom attacks.

Blaze and Black Drifter continued firing their attacks relentlessly.

After ten minutes of Blaze and Black Drifter serving as decoys while Rowan attacked, two Red-dooms fell to their deaths.

Rowan earned thirty million evolution points from these two, the evolution points awarded were far more than the eleven million he received from the first.

Only one of the Red-dooms dropped the Devouring Venom, but it was still more than enough thanks to [100x Reward].

"Go recharge."

Rowan allowed Blaze and Black Drifter time to recharge while he diverted the attention of the remaining Red-dooms.

VENOM BLAST

VENOM CONTROL

VENOM SPRAY

As the barrage of attacks ceased, the Red-dooms finally had a chance to launch their assault on Rowan.

"Hehe, I already know how to defeat you lot—these attacks don't faze me," Rowan grinned. Your journey continues at My Virtual Library Empire

The Red-dooms might be massive and powerful, but they possessed a critical weakness: their poor focus.

They could obliterate an army of ten thousand soldiers—but only because those soldiers were incapable of using attacks that disoriented them.

However, if they could be disoriented, the Red-dooms became immediately vulnerable.

Their only defense, at that point, was their high durability, which allowed them to withstand dozens of such attacks without dying.

As the venom attacks darted toward him, Rowan sprinted away as usual, moving in unpredictable angles that made it even more challenging for the Red-dooms to execute their manipulation.@@novelbin@@

Rowan managed to survive until Blaze returned and recaptured their attention with another Inferno Howl.

Afterwards, Black Drifter unleashed a barrage of wind strikes on them.

Rowan then resumed his usual attacking stance.

About two hours passed before the last of the Red-dooms collapsed.

[ You slayed x1 Red-doom | +18000 Evolution Points ]

[ 100x Reward activated! you have received 18,000,000 Evolution Points ]

[ Additional 100,000 point for proving system wrong ]

[ 100x Reward activated; you have received 100,000,000 Evolution Points ]

CLANG..

Rowan dropped his swords and collapsed onto the ground, breathing rapidly as he struggled to catch his breath. Blaze and Black Drifter relaxed beside him.

"This is the most tiring battle ever," Rowan muttered.

Unfortunately....

As Rowan was catching his breath, suddenly a small black crow swooped in and landed on his shoulder.

"Ehh?" Rowan was taken aback. Why had a crow suddenly decided to rest on his shoulder?

Rowan turned to look at the crow, whose eyes were fixed on him, unblinking and unmoving.

Blaze and Black Drifter were equally confused.

Why was this random animal suddenly interested in their master?

Well — the answer came immediately.

The crow opened its mouth to speak.

However, instead of using its natural language, it spoke like a human—albeit a familiar one—Dragun!

It began to speak, delivering the message it had been sent to convey.
