Chapter 258: 258 Unicorn's Blood
Chapter 258: Chapter 258 Unicorn’s Blood
“Certification successful!”
Behind the counter, the voice of the Shadow Soldier came through, and simultaneously, four sheets of paper flew up, each floating into the hands of Tang Qi and the other two individuals.
Under the witness of the Shadow Soldier, Tang Qi received two “Curios,” while a skinny young man and a burly old man received eight thousand and ten thousand Divine Grace respectively.
Even for Transcendents, this was considered a huge sum of money.
Most Transcendents, if willing to put aside their reverence for the law and officialdom, and earn money by crossing the line, a mere ten thousand Divine Grace would naturally not count for much.
Unfortunately, they could not do so.
From the official power Tang Qi has been in contact with so far, the return of the Spiritual Tide has caused some major troubles, but it seems that the officialdom still manages to hold up.
A small team dispatched by the FBI, even equipped with Professional Level Experts such as “Demon Hunter” and “White Witch,” suggests how many strong individuals must be lurking at the headquarters of the Investigation Bureau. Secret Phoenix State, among the dozens of states in the Federation and not quite prominent as a poor state, also formed the “Ancient Castle Bureau” at the fastest speed, and even has Hall, a powerful Demon Hunter.
These indications show that some secrets about the Spiritual Tide are known to the officials and some large organizations, or powerhouses with strong background. Their inherited power had been interrupted for a century, but it seems that they were well-prepared for its return.
If not, it would be hard to explain why most areas remain calm when the Spiritual Tide became increasingly intense.
Just how long can this calm last?
Just as Tang Qi’s thoughts became somewhat scattered, the four owners of the Curios each turned around and left.
Leading the way were the two whose trades failed.
The owner of the “Frog Wallet” showed no signs of regret, obviously confident in the value of this rare Curio. In fact, his price was not excessive; Tang Qi indeed possessed Curios or Secret Medicines that could be lifesaving at crucial moments.
The Kerosene Secret Medicine, Giant Secret Medicine, Crow God Sculpture, or Mutated Bone Whistle in his collection could all save lives at critical moments.
But after trading for two Curios, acquiring the “Frog Wallet” would be too wasteful.
As for the other one’s “Barbie Doll,” Tang Qi couldn’t afford it.
Especially the owner of the doll, whose longing eyes pierced through the smoke as he left, reinforced Tang Qi’s resolve.
“Buzz”
Tang Qi glanced at the owner of the Bag of Gluttony who, holding eight thousand Gold Coins, hurriedly left the market in a rushed manner.
This part, at least, was well played.
Using the “Bag of Gluttony” to find Prey, Devour, and later reap the benefits.
This Transcendent, who seemed inexperienced, indeed found a good growth path.
If all goes well, he might become a strong figure in the Evil Camp in the future.
Unfortunately, at the start of his career, he unknowingly chose the wrong target.
“Actually looking forward to seeing what happens next, I hope I won’t be disappointed.”
Tang Qi casually put the two Curios into his carrying bag, then smilingly said.
Having acquired the desired Curios and spending a total of eighteen thousand Divine Grace, it reduced a small portion of Tang Qi’s wealth, but it didn’t affect his good mood.
As he left the Contracted Wooden House, Tang Qi glanced at the still bustling market, his gaze naturally falling on the two opposing wooden houses at the end of the valley.
Intelligence Cabin!
Mysterious Bar!
Tang Qi first went to the Intelligence Cabin to inquire about the progress of his previous “bounty.”
As expected, there has been no progress for the time being.
The organization behind the Mysterious Valley Market has opened a new Extraordinary Market in Sweet Water City in the Southern Federation Region. The news of Tang Qi’s bounty for the “rubber fruit” has also been posted in the market, but the fruit has proven unexpectedly hard to find.
However, there is good news too. A Transcendent has already taken up the bounty and ventured deep into the jungle in search of it.
Upon leaving the Intelligence Cabin, the Mysterious Bar naturally comes into view first.
Tang Qi recalled the not-so-pleasant memories from the last time at the bar, hesitated for a moment, and then firmly said, “This time, I definitely will not order the Moon Stealer.”
With that, Tang Qi, who aimed to gather information on the Mysterious Side, walked straight into the bar.
Inside the bar, the familiar atmosphere, smell, and Bunny Girls were all there.
As usual, Tang Qi headed towards the bar area. Just a few steps in, a flood of information from the bar came to him. Filtering out the useless bits, Tang Qi still caught some that related to him.
For instance, the Mellon Family, an old prestigious First Family, had, thanks to their massive battle with Hastu Club, managed to survive the final confrontation.
But that war still left the Mellon Family crippled, with nine-tenths of its capacity lost.
Many Transcendents in the bar were discussing that the Mellon Family seemed to be planning to move out of Messer City en masse.
Not to evade disaster, but rumors say it’s to search for a “Demon Treasure.”
The Demon that signed a contract with the first head of the Mellon Family had sent a message from the Exotic Realm. It had left a treasure in a valley on Blue Star, which the lucky one might acquire.
Hearing this “legend,” Tang Qi did not need to guess to know that the Mellon Family had ulterior motives.
Most likely, they were scheming to send some novices to their doom.
Aside from the Mellon family’s news, there was also some information about the “Night Wing Knight.”
Hearing how these Transcendents described how powerful and mysterious the Night Wing Knight was made Tang Qi somewhat uncomfortable.
They were discussing Tang Qi’s aid to the FBI team in dealing with “the Hounds,” a mix of truths and unverifiable information, which, despite its uncertainty, sufficed to convey some facts.
The information must have been released by the Investigation Bureau, but Tang Qi didn’t think they did it to make the “Night Wing Knight” share the Shepherd Sect’s hatred.
Because it wasn’t necessary. From Andre Poli’s description of Mr. Leckter, it was clear that the Shepherd Sect was a powerful Extraordinary Organization, far surpassing the Mellon Family or the Hastu Club. With their capabilities, identifying the killer of Robert, Lance and the other hounds as the Night Wing Knight wasn’t difficult.
The Investigation Bureau releasing the news was more likely trying to gather information about the Night Wing Knight.
Perhaps at this moment in the bar, there was an agent diligently taking notes.
Unbeknownst to them, Tang Qi, enshrouded in smoke, was currently the most famous Transcendent in Messer City. Besides the highly gossiped title of the Night Wing Knight, he also had the sensational title of Messer City’s Saviour.
Fortunately, all of this was irrelevant to him, Tang Qi.
“Respected customer, what do you need? As usual, the first drink is on the house. Moon Stealer? Or would you like to try another surprise?”
As Tang Qi sat down, Savoy’s bronze mask approached.
But his words made Tang Qi glare at him.
Absolutely stirring the pot – Tang Qi did not believe this six-armed fellow didn’t notice the distressing memories the last Moon Stealer had brought him.
Still, seeing as someone else was paying, Tang Qi decided to forgive this bizarre bartender who was about to sprout a seventh arm.
He didn’t even glance at the drinks menu. Besides Tyrone Tree Beer, the only other beverage he hadn’t tried was the “Heart of Chaos.”
Given his last experience, Tang Qi immediately ruled out the ominously named Heart of Chaos.
Without a second thought, he immediately ordered two new drinks.
“One Flame Red Wine, one Unicorn’s Blood.”
What do you think?
