Chapter 529 529: Progress
After collecting enough Yena plants, Caleb returned to the city. He headed straight to the adventurers' guild, where he presented his haul to the division responsible for verifying the completion of tasks. The staff at the guild were impressed with the speed and efficiency with which Caleb had completed his mission, especially since he was a newcomer to the adventurers' guild.
At the guild, a staff member carefully inspected the Yena plants to ensure they met the quality and quantity standards set out in the quest guidelines. Caleb watched, feeling a sense of satisfaction as the staff confirmed that everything was in order. He had not only completed his first official quest but had also done so with a level of professionalism that earned him nods of approval from seasoned adventurers who happened to be at the guild at the time.
With the successful completion of his mission, Caleb's reputation in the adventurers' guild began to grow. He was seen not just as a skilled blacksmith but now also a reliable and capable adventurer. This successful mission marked the beginning of what many hoped would be a long and illustrious adventure career for Caleb, as he continued to explore his abilities and the vast world around him.

Caleb approached the quest board in the adventurers' guild with a clear goal in mind: to tackle an A-level difficulty mission. His previous success had boosted his confidence, and he was eager to test his skills on a more challenging task. However, as he scanned the board for suitable quests, a silver-tier adventurer who was also perusing the missions overheard Caleb's mutterings and decided to offer some advice.
"Hey there, you're looking at A-level missions, right?" the silver-tier adventurer asked, adjusting his guild badge prominently displayed on his chest. "You know, you can't just jump into A-level quests without meeting certain prerequisites."
Caleb turned to face the adventurer, curious and slightly disappointed. "Is there no way I can take on one of those missions now?" he asked, hoping for some loophole or shortcut.
The adventurer shook his head, "To take on A-level quests, you need to complete 50 B-level missions first and advance to silver tier. It's the guild's rule to ensure that only adequately experienced adventurers handle such high risks."
Caleb's expression showed his frustration, but then he inquired further, "What about joining a team? Could I participate in an A-level quest if I'm part of a group led by a silver-tier adventurer?"
"That's right," the adventurer replied with a nod. "If a silver-tier adventurer invites you to join their team, you can participate in A-level missions under their supervision. It's not common, but it's allowed. Teams often need extra hands, and if you prove your skills, someone might just invite you."
Thanking the adventurer for the valuable information, Caleb left the quest board with a lot to think about. He appreciated the guidance but realized he needed to either find a silver-tier team willing to take him on or start grinding through those B-level missions.
With his new knowledge, Caleb returned to his room at the inn. He sat down at the small desk, lit by the dim glow of an oil lamp, and started plotting his next moves.

Over the span of two years, Caleb dedicated himself fully to his role as an adventurer in the guild. He undertook a grueling regimen, successfully completing three B-level difficulty missions each month, accumulating well over the required fifty missions to qualify for the silver tier promotion exam. His consistent performance and determination did not go unnoticed, and he was eventually promoted to a silver tier adventurer, marking a significant milestone in his adventurous career.
In addition to his mission work, Caleb remained committed to mastering ki manipulation. He carved out three hours daily for rigorous training, focusing primarily on meditation techniques that enhanced his control and efficiency. This persistent effort paid dividends; Caleb achieved the ability to envelop his entire body with ki. Originally, channeling ki across his body took about four seconds, but through relentless practice, he reduced this time to just 1.5 seconds. His proficiency reached a point where he could instantaneously redirect ki to any part of his body without delay.
Caleb's mastery over ki also saw quantitative growth. By the end of the two-year period, he had reached the peak of level 1 in terms of ki quantity, a result to his dedication and the effectiveness of his training methods.
As Caleb walked through the guild halls now, adorned with the silver badge of his tier, he felt nothing... The respect he received from fellow adventurers and the recognition of his skills were clear indicators of his progress and standing within the community.
Now a recognized silver tier adventurer, Caleb was eligible to partake in more perilous and rewarding A-level difficulty missions.
...
Caleb stood alone in a secluded training ground he had reserved for himself, surrounded by nothing but the flat expanse of the land and sparse trees, with the wind murmuring through the leaves. The area was bathed in tranquility, perfect for the kind of deep meditation Caleb had planned for the day.
He sat in a peculiar posture, not commonly seen, breathing deeply through his ears in an advanced ki manipulation technique. Around him, a visible layer of blue aura enveloped his entire body, glowing softly against the natural backdrop. He resembled a statue, an unmoving Buddha, as he focused intently on channeling and controlling his ki.
After a long session of meditation, Caleb slowly stood up. With a deliberate clap of his hands, he summoned the energy he had been gathering. Instantly, a massive tornado whipped into existence around him, its winds roaring at speeds up to 30 kilometers per hour. Leaves and loose earth spiraled upwards in the powerful gusts, creating a spectacle of nature's force manipulated by human will.
Despite this impressive display, Caleb was not fully satisfied. He spoke to himself about the limitations of his abilities, particularly his affinity for wind ki. "All I had is wind ki, and yet, no affinity for water or fire. It's frustrating," he muttered under his breath, the sound almost lost in the howling wind. He had tried to extend his capabilities to other elements, but all attempts had been futile so far. Its not that he doesn't have affinity, it was George's body that only has affinity to one element which was wind.
Caleb pondered the possibility of using his unique fusion power to someday increase his affinities to other elements. "There has to be a way," he mused, considering the potential of fusing materials or energies to his body that could enhance his elemental affinities.
As he calmed the wind and the tornado dissipated, leaving the area as peaceful as before, his thoughts turned back to the ant king, his mentor in the arts of ki manipulation. The meditation techniques he had learned from the ant king had brought him this far, but he knew he needed more advanced training to progress further. "Maybe it's time to seek out the ant king again," he thought, contemplating the need for further guidance to explore deeper aspects of ki manipulation and unlock the potential of other elements.
