Lord of the Time: I Can Reincarnate Infinitely

Chapter 531 531: Move Old Bones

Curious and determined, Caleb headed to the adventurer's guild. As he walked in, his eyes were immediately drawn to the mission board. Among the various notices, one particularly stood out. It was encased in a golden frame, gleaming under the light, overshadowing the other mundane papers.

Caleb approached the guild staff named Jim Jom to inquire about this eye-catching mission. "Hey there, Jim. What's the story with that mission in the gold frame?" Caleb asked, nodding towards the board.

Jim Jom looked up, recognizing Caleb. "Ah, George, that one's a tough cookie. That's the Evil's Eye Call mission. No time limit on it, but the rewards are hefty. We're talking a Level 3 Ki Technique, 100 gold coins, and 10,000 silver coins," Jim explained, his voice low but clear.

Caleb raised his eyebrows, impressed by the stakes. "And the requirements?" he asked.

"You need to bring back the head of their leader and wipe out all their members. There's also a chance to save any victims or children they've kidnapped," Jim continued, his tone serious.

Caleb nodded slowly, processing the information. "So, what does one need to take on this mission?" Stay connected through My Virtual Library Empire

Jim Jom leaned in slightly, "You'd need to either form your own squad of five members or join a veteran squad. It's not a solo job, that's for sure."

Caleb chuckled softly, a twinkle in his eye. "And if I may ask, any concerns about my... ah, age?" he queried, with a playful grin.

Jim laughed warmly. "George, age might just be a number, but make sure those old bones can keep up. This isn't a walk in the park."

Caleb laughed heartily in return. "Don't worry about me, Jim. My old bones might creak, but they still move just fine."

Jim smiled, nodding appreciatively. "Well, if you're set on it, start gathering a squad. And take care, okay? This mission's as dangerous as they come."

...

As Caleb left the guild, the outside area was buzzing with adventurers and squads yelling and trying to grab the attention of potential team members. Some were calling out for a support member, others needed a tank, and some were looking for a bowman. Each group was eager to form the perfect team to take on the challenging mission against the Evil's Eye Call.

Caleb, feeling hopeful, approached a few groups, introducing himself and offering his skills. But each time, he was quickly dismissed. "We don't need an old man," one adventurer snapped rudely. "You'd just slow us down," said another. Caleb was shoved aside, his offers to help rejected. He was annoyed but kept his cool, not wanting to start a fight.

He tried with ten different guilds, moving from one group to another, but the response was always the same. No one wanted an older person on their team, assuming he wouldn't be able to keep up with the demands of such a dangerous mission.

Just as Caleb was about to give up and head home, he noticed a team that seemed different from the rest. They were calmly discussing their strategy, not shouting or boasting like the others. When they saw Caleb, they didn't ignore him or push him away. Instead, one of them waved him over.

"Hey there, you looking to join a squad?" one of the team members asked, smiling warmly.

Caleb nodded, a bit wary after his earlier rejections. "Yes, but it seems no one wants an old man on their team," he replied, his voice tinged with frustration.

The group chuckled softly, and the one who had invited him over shook his head. "Don't listen to them. Being older doesn't mean you're weak. It means you've got experience, something we could really use."

The others nodded in agreement. "Exactly! We believe everyone has something valuable to offer. What's your specialty?" another member asked, genuinely interested.

Caleb was taken aback by their kindness and understanding. He quickly explained his skills and his unique abilities as a blacksmith with magical crafting powers.

The team listened intently, then exchanged looks of approval. "You sound like just what we need," the leader said, extending a hand. "Welcome to our squad!"

"Thanks!" Caleb smiled and stood with his new team, eager to learn more about them as they gathered around a small wooden table at the local tavern. The atmosphere was friendly and filled with a mix of anticipation and determination.

The leader of the group, a tall man with sharp eyes, introduced himself first. "I'm Markus. My hobbies include studying ancient battle tactics and training. My dream is to lead missions that make a difference. I chose to be a Sensor because I can detect enemies and any presence within a two-kilometer radius. It's crucial for our safety and success. I'm here because I can't stand the way Evil's Eye Call plays with the lives of innocent children. We need to stop them."

Next, a burly fellow with a friendly grin spoke up. "Name's Rolf. I love arm-wrestling and my dream is to become the strongest warrior in the kingdom. I'm a melee fighter, which means I fight enemies up close with my swords. I joined this mission to protect families from the terror caused by Evil's Eye Call."

Another young man, lean and quick-eyed, nodded. "I'm Tomas. I'm into crafting small weapons and gadgets. One day, I want to invent something big. Like Rolf, I'm also a melee fighter. I'm in this to test my skills against some tough opponents and help take down those who threaten peace."

The only woman in the group, with a determined look, introduced herself last. "I'm Elina. My hobbies are healing and herbalism. My biggest dream is to find my cousin who went missing a year ago; I believe Evil's Eye Call is behind it. That's why I'm here. As the support of this group, I ensure everyone stays healthy and can fight at their best."

Finally, it was Caleb's turn. "I'm Caleb, but you can call me George when we're on missions. I love smithing and crafting magical weapons. My dream? To teach something valuable to the younger generation and keep my old bones moving! I'm here to lend my skills and experience to help stop the Evil's Eye Call."

Markus nodded approvingly at everyone. "Well, we've got a solid team here. Each of us has a unique role that complements the others. As a Sensor, I'll lead and keep us aware of dangers. Rolf and Tomas, you'll be our front-line strength. Elina, your healing skills will be crucial for our survival. And Caleb, your experience and magical crafting could be the edge we need."
