Lord of the Truth

Chapter 1097: His last moment

"Urrgh..." Holak clenched the ground in pain, his fingers digging into the scorched earth. "Those damned... little shits you call sons... they left me behind..."

"No one told you to go for a swim at such a crucial moment." Robin chuckled, his voice hoarse as he lifted his gaze upward once more,

"But it’s good that you are here, I appreciate the help."

"I wasn’t trying to help you, fool!!" Holak slammed his left hand against the ground, sending small embers flying. "I just couldn’t let that bastard die before I gave him one last slap."

Robin smirked at the irony. Couldn’t he have just waited until Baithor had crushed him first and then slapped him? Holak was obviously trying to save him, But he didn’t comment on it. Instead, he waved his hand dismissively. "Yeah, yeah, whatever makes you sleep better at night. Now come help me up, I can’t move."

"Get lost!" Holak lifted his head just to yell at him, before letting it drop back into the sand with a dull thud. His voice, now barely above a groan, followed. "Call someone... get help for both of us. I can’t even move a damn finger anymore..."

Robin couldn’t help but chuckle at the pitiful tone coming from beneath the sand. The way he view Holak had shifted rather unexpectedly— it was strange how facing death together could change things.

Then —ssssshhh— a faint sound reached his ears, something unsettlingly familiar. Instinctively, Robin turned his head toward it. "Hmm?"

Baithor’s body... was trying to reassemble itself. Slowly. Weakly. But it was happening!

"Hey, cut it out and just die already! This is getting pathetic!" Robin shouted with all the strength he had left, frustration lacing his voice. Then he turned toward Holak. "You, get up and finish him off."

"....." Holak didn’t respond.

Robin narrowed his eyes. "...I know you can hear me, don’t pretend you passed out!"

Woosh woosh— Holak weakly moved his head from side to side, dragging his chin through the sand until he managed to dig a small hole. Then, without hesitation, he buried his entire face in it.

"Are you fuckin’ kidding me right now?!" Robin bellowed, absolutely exasperated. He had seen plenty of ridiculous things in his life, but this?

But there was no time to focus on Holak’s antics. His gaze snapped back to Baithor, "Damn it..."

The massive serpent’s body had barely managed to reform to a mere ten meters in length before it collapsed into itself once again, dissolving into a formless mass with a hiss. But Baithor didn’t give up. He strained, fought, and slowly, through sheer force of will, reshaped himself once more.

This time, his form was different— humanoid. He now had arms, legs, and long, tightly braided hair. It was his true form, the one he had before his monstrous transformation. And yet, even now, his body remained in its gelatinous state, unstable and flickering.

Flicker Flicker— The eerie purple sun above him blinked in and out of existence, growing dimmer with each passing moment.

Thud Baithor collapsed onto his knees, panting, staring up at the sky as though searching for something beyond it. His lifeblood had been reduced to a mere drop, the last remnants of his existence barely keeping him conscious.

Any other being would have long since drawn their final breath. But Baithor had lived for ten thousand years. And sheer, unrelenting willpower alone kept his soul tethered to his fading body.

Then, in that state, he spoke. His voice was frail but clear, no longer distorted by his monstrous form, "...When I was still a prince of the Human Kingdom, I always resented my father. I opposed him countless times, trying to convince him to wipe out the Lilian race— the weakest species on the Poison Rock Planet. Their resources could have made us rich. Their destruction would have solidified our reputation as an unchallenged force. But my father refused... every time."

Robin remained silent, listening, he had no choice anyway.

"...He always said that the destruction of entire races was not something to be taken lightly. That if we committed such atrocities, the consequences of our actions would eventually come back to claim us. But I thought he was just an old fool rambling nonsense. So, I killed him with my own hands and seized power for myself."

"...It wasn’t long after that the Overlord reached out to me. From that moment, I chose my path— the easy path. The path of annihilation."

Baithor’s tired eyes slowly lifted to meet Robin’s directly. His lips curled into a smirk, faint but mocking.

"...If one of my ships hadn’t stumbled upon that wormhole, I wouldn’t be dying today. I don’t blame you. I don’t even blame myself. I blame the Law of Karma, which took ten thousand years to finally claim me. But what’s truly fascinating..." His smirk deepened. "...Is that the same law has only spared you for only fifty years ,and now suddenly decided to drag you down with me today! Hehe... Hahaha..."

Robin stiffened. A shiver ran down his spine.

What did he mean by that?

"Robin Burton..." Baithor’s voice weakened as his breath came in ragged gasps. "Come with me... Let’s see the next world... together."

And with that final whisper, Baithor’s breath ceased.

But just as his soul began to fade, his trembling hand shot upward—woosh!

A small object, like a pouch, came flying from the distance, landing in his palm.

Robin’s eyes widened in horror, "No!!"

It was the Dimensional Traveler’s Bag— and from it, countless treasures and artifacts spilled onto the ground. But among them, one object stood out above all.

The Cataclysm Seal Cube.

Baithor’s fingers barely brushed against it before his lifeless hand fell onto its surface.

Oooooooooooommmnnnnnnnn

The cube suddenly lifted itself from Baithor’s palm, floating into the air. A deep, ominous hum resonated through the battlefield.

Then—

WOOOOOOSH WOOOOOOSH WOOOOOOSH

Waves of raw, untamed energy exploded outward in every direction.

"ARGH!!"

Robin was hurled dozens of meters away, crashing into the ground, while Holak was flung back into the lava lake.

The already fragile dome above them began to collapse. The first energy wave alone sent deep cracks through the huge structure, making it crumble like brittle glass.

Rumble Rumble

Debris rained down like a meteor shower. Some pieces were instantly disintegrated by the energy pulses, but others made it through, crashing violently onto the ground below. A thick storm of dust and sand swirled through the air, reducing visibility to almost nothing.

Then—

CRACKLE

A thick, dark smoke erupted from the cube.

Not ordinary smoke— this was consuming everything it touched. Stones, debris, and even the air itself seemed to vanish within its abyssal grasp.

It spiraled rapidly, coiling into itself like a storm, swirling with hunger, as if it had been waiting for this moment for an eternity.

Through the chaos, Baithor’s lifeless face retained its final smirk.

With the last shred of his will, he moved his left hand one last time, reaching toward his own forehead.

With a sickening pull, he extracted something— a small, black-and-red sphere— directly from within his skull.

Without hesitation, he flung it toward the dark storm.

"Shit!!" Robin instantly recognized what it was.

It was a soul Shard.

The moment the shard made contact—

RUMBLE RUMBLE

The waves of energy from the cube intensified tenfold.

The dark storm expanded, stretching until it touched the very heavens themselves.

Flicker Flicker

And with that final act—

The Purple Sun above them blinked out of existence.

At the same time, all light left Baithor’s eyes.

His incomplete body collapsed onto the ground, flesh and blood returning to their natural state.

A lifeless, broken corpse.

...But the chaos was not yet over.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH

The dark storm suddenly stopped— then parted.

From within its depths, a colossal shadow emerged.

A towering figure, cloaked in darkness, its face obscured beneath a deep crimson hood.

"Hmmm?"

The huge shadow’s empty gaze scanned the battlefield for a long, silent moment.

Then—

Its voice shook the very earth.

"...What exactly happened here?"
