Chapter 20: I am making a bomb

"'Mai, I need you to stop talking and listen to me, okay?''

''Oh''. Mai blinked her eyes and looked at Aaron Saint with an innocent and curious gaze.

''Now, I will explain everything to you. I am Aaron Saint. I am your guardian. This is my house. I am not a member of Lorca's gang nor am I an enemy gang that has kidnapped you. I've known you for 5 years now, you were in the hospital because of an accident which I caused''.

''You're not a member of Lorca's gang neither are you an enemy. You're someone who saved me and I am living here with you. Does that mean, you have met August and Maijune before?''

''Yes, and this is the third time I am explaining myself and is really tiring''.

''Since, my two sisters are here, then, this place is safe for me''.

''So, Mai, you said a lot of things which I didn't get. Can you tell me more into details? You mentioned bombs and gunpowder?''

''That. is classified information. I can't tell you about it''.

''Youyou can't tell me? I thought you said you trust me?''

''I do, but this is different. I will decide whether you're worthy of that information or not before I say anything. Do you have a laboratory in this house?'' Mai asked looking around.

''A laboratory? Why do you need a laboratory?''

''I need a laboratory to do my work. Didn't my sisters tell you? I am a scientist. I make bombs and gunpowder'.

Aaron Saint cussed at Maijune in his thoughts ''that damn girl purposefully left this out. She didn't even warn me about this side of Mai''.

''Mr. Saint, can I call you that?'' Mai waved her hand at Aaron and he looked at her ''I asked if I can call you Mr. Saint?''

''Yes, sure, you can''.

''Then, Mr. Saint looking at the size of this house. I can tell you are someone with lots of money. Please, can you set up a place for me to do my work. I just need some few things. I will write them for you later so that you can get them for me. Also, I need some books. Oh, yes, I need to continue my education. I have to homeschool because Lorca might be looking for me, so you need to prepare all that for me'.

''Then, what are you waiting for? You need to go and get me what I asked for. Are you going to look at my face the whole day? Don't you need to go to work?'' Mai smiled at him sheepishly.

Aaron Saint nodded his head and went to his room to pick his phone. Mai put the teddy bear down and went to the kitchen.

Aaron Saint's room

Aaron Saint picked his phone from his vanity table and spoke to himself ''Did she just send me? Aaron Saint? That damn girl Maijune didn't even tell me she was a scientist? Bombs and gunpowder? In my house? This is going to be very tiring? I mean how could they change sides like that without even warning me?''

HALL.

Mai finished her breakfast and stood in front of the stairs with a paper. Aaron got out of his room and went down to her.

Mai stretched her hand towards him and spoke.

''Here, a list of the things I will be needing''.

''Mai, come here for a minute''. Aaron held her hand to the sofa and sat her down and spoke. ''All this that you need, what are you going to use them for?':

''Bomb''.

''Bomb?'' Aaron looked at her alarmed.

''Yes, I am going to make a bomb''.

''Is it only bombs you can make?''

''No, I can make guns and aphrodisiac, gunpowder and inducers''.

''No, I mean, apart from all that. Is there not something else you can make? Something less harmful?''

''Mmmm, are you afraid I might blow this house to pieces?''

''Maybe?''

''No, I won't. I am making them because Maijune might need them in the future''.

''I see, but is there something else you can make?''

''Yes, I can make perfumes, aromatic perfumes, seductive incense for clubs''.

Aaron Saint sighed helplessly and spoke.

''Mai, I will get you everything you need but you must only make perfumes. Guns, bombs, gunpowder, aphrodisiac they are dangerous for a girl like you''.

''Really? But, Lorca always told me that making them is what I was born to do''.

''Forget what Lorca told you. He is a pervert. Listen to only what I say. I will never lie to you''.

''Well, since Maijune and August trust you, I guess I can too. I will give you a new list. I will only make perfumes from now onwards''.

''Thank you Mai''.

''This house is so big; I don't want to be alone here. Can I follow you out?''

''You want to go with me?''

''Yes, even though I like working alone, I hate being alone. It scares me and makes me feel like someone is looking at me from the dark''.

''Okay, go and change, I will go with you to the company''.

''Okay''. Mai smiled and went to her room.

SAINT GROUP.

ENTRANCE/RECEPTION.

Mai looked at the building in awe as she and Aaron Saint entered. The workers greeted Aaron Saint and looked curiously at the girl walking beside him. Aaron Saint noticed Mai far behind him and turned. Mai bumped into his chest and rubbed her nose.

''Look forward and walk, will you?''

''Yes''.

Morris met them at the elevator and looked at Mai. Mai looked at him from head to toe and asked ''who is this, Mr. Saint?''

''Who am I? August Maijune are you now blind?'' Morris asked as they got into the elevator.

''I see you know August''.

''Boss, what is wrong with her?''

''What is my schedule like today?'' Aaron Saint ignored the question and changed the subject.

PRESIDENT'S OFFICE.

Aaron Saint gestured at the couch for Mai to sit and she did while he sat at his desk.

Morris opened the schedule book and spoke. ''You have a meeting with the marketing team this morning at 11. The old Master requested for your presence at the family mansion today. He also found out about'' Morris looked at Mai and Aaron Saint understood him.

''Okay, is time for her to meet the old man anyway''.

''Boss, are you really going to the family mansion with her?''

''Yes, she is safe with me around''.

''But, boss, she seems like a different person today? Does she have mood swings? The last time she was a bit social''.

''I don't talk to people I don't know''. Mai said and looked at Morris.

Morris frowned and looked at her suspiciously.

''Morris, you can go now''.

''Yes, boss''. Morris looked at Mai once again before going out. Aaron opened his desktop and spoke to Mia.

''Mai''.

''Yes, Mr. Saint''.

''I will be sending you somewhere at 6:00pm today''.

''Where?''

''To meet my grandfather''.

''Your grandfather?''

''Yes, will you go?''

''Do I have a choice?''

''No''.

''Then, I will go anyway''.

''Yes, he knows about you so I need to introduce you to him''.

''Okay, I will behave''.

''Good girl, will you be okay sitting all by yourself? I have a lot of work to do''.

''Yes, go ahead. I have my phone here, I will browse the internet and study some books online''. Aaron Saint nodded his head and went back to his work while Mai busied herself with the phone.

Once in a while she will open the small notepad she brought along and wrote some things down.

SAINT FAMILY MANSION.

The butler met Aaron Saint and Mai at the gate and greeted them with a smile.

''Welcome home First Young Master, welcome home young Miss''.

Mai followed Aaron Saint's lead and nodded at the butler and went inside the house.

Mai nervously held Aaron Saint's hand as they got to the door and Aaron turned and looked at her ''don't be scared, I am here''.

Mai smile and nodded her head but Aaron Saint decided not to let go of her hand since he could feel her nervousness.

Aaron Saint held the door's knob to go in and the butler walked to them and said ''second Young Master and Miss Myers are around, sir''.

Aaron Saint stopped and his grip around Mai tightened cautiously. Mai looked up and faced Aaron Saint's gaze with a smile and he spoke softly to her ''we can go back and come another time. There is someone else around''.

''We're here already, Mr. Saint. Let's go in, you can protect me''

''I will''. The butler watched them curiously as they spoke softly and intimately to each other.

This was the first time he had seen the first young master of the Saint family speak so gently to a girl and even brought her home to meet the old master. Looking at the first young master, the butler smiled and was happy.

For the last five years, this young master had buried himself in work and never attended any of the matchmaking sessions organised by the old master. The butler smiled and waited for them to go in first.
