Chapter 189 Wolfmen
The weather was hot with the sun burning bright in the sky above Gulu plain, a large expanse of yellow sand laid out in front of their eyes and visible wind that swept up the sand and dust could be spotted from afar.
Hot air blew against their faces and beads of sweat covered their forehead. Under the harsh sun, soldiers in plate armour and helmets stood in formations, forming a long wall of people that was dozens of kilometres long in front of the Cloud Dew Dynasty's military camp; there were hundreds of thousands of soldiers present, some of them were riding on horses while the others remained on the ground, they held their spears, swords, and shields tightly and looked into the distance.
Hundreds of kilometres away was a long black line that stretched wide like a net and was approaching them; those were soldiers of the Kalahari dynasty!
The soldiers of the Cloud Dew Dynasty gulped with nervousness as they patiently waited; half an hour had already passed since they gathered here, and the ground around some was already soaked in their sweat.
The soldiers were not the only ones present; every sect that had come to Gulu plain to assist in the fight had also gathered their disciples here, increasing their numbers to over a million fighters.
An army of mortals and martial artists.
On a side in front of this long line of soldiers and martial artists, Leon stood next to Bai Quing and Quin Xuxu; the members of the Falcon sect were behind them.
All of their gazes were focused on the long black line that apparently was the Kalahari soldiers and was rapidly approaching.
For some reason, many of them felt that the number of enemies was too absurd for a single army. It was almost like they had twice the number of soldiers on the side of the Cloud Dew Dynasty.
Time slowly ticked by, and the enemies had gotten closer; they were now only a few tens of kilometres away. Leon and everyone else could now see them properly.
Although the yellow sand screen blurred their sight, it wasn't difficult to make out the outlines of figures after they got close to a certain extent.
At the moment, everyone on the side of the Cloud Dew Dynasty was staring at the approaching enemies with eyes filled with disbelief.
Some of them were in deep shock and even some of the soldiers were already trembling.
How could they not?
Looking at the rapidly approaching Kalahari soldiers who were rushing over fearlessly, everyone could see not only the soldiers in black armour but also the strange, tall creatures rushing over with them.
Claws instead of arms, upper bodies of beasts, and tall physiques that were twice of a normal human.
There was an army of wolf men rushing over with the enemies!
"Goodness, am I seeing things? What are wolf-men doing on the battlefield?" A soldier gasped in horror.
Wolfmen were a special group of beasts that were able to communicate with humans; their high intelligence amongst other beasts and superior innit strength made them a respected race of the beast species.
Not only were they intelligent and could think like humans, but their strength and speed were nothing an ordinary human could compare to.
Not only that, they would also have the strength of a level 1 martial artist at birth and would only get stronger as they grew older and ate other beasts.
The wolfmen were not inferior to the fox clan; they could even be said to be stronger than them! Their only downside was their lack of talent in martial arts, but they made up for that with their extremely sturdy body, which was covered in hard fur, and their ability to get stronger by eating.@@novelbin@@
"So, so many of them. There are at least a thousand wolfmen!" Another soldier screamed, his spear trembling in his hands.
Looking at the ferocious appearance of the wolfmen was enough to send grown adults into panic; their mouths were filled with sharp teeth and their glaring red eyes struck fear in one's soul.
Coupled with the known facts about the wolfmen, it was not surprising that the soldiers got scared by their appearance.
Standing in front of the disciples and elders of the Falcon sect, Quin Xuxu and Bai Quing frowned. Just like everyone else, they were aware of the abilities of the wolfmen and were also shocked to see so many of them on the enemy's side.
They wondered how the Kalahari dynasty was able to get so many wolfmen to help them in battle. After all, due to their scary innate abilities, the wolfmen were prideful creatures and did whatever they liked.
'The Kalahari dynasty must have paid a huge price to make so many of these beasts come here,' Quin Xuxu thought to herself, she glanced at the disciples and elders behind her and could see the fear and nervousness on their faces.
Her eyes flashed in surprise when she noticed that Leon was the only one who wasn't bothered by the appearance of the beasts. He stood in place casually and looked ahead with a calm look.
'As expected of the son of the Dao. Even in the face of such scary creatures, looking at his face is enough to make others feel safe; he must be confident.' Quin Xuxu couldn't help but praise. She smiled slightly before returning her gaze to the approaching enemies.
Unknown of what Quin Xuxu was talking about, Leon stared at the wolf men with a blank face.
'Eh, wolf men? They look like slightly bigger wolves that can stand on two legs, what's so scary about them?' He debated in his thoughts, he felt that the soldiers were overreacting.
'Aren't they just beasts? What's there to be afraid of? Just kill them when they attack you. You have the advantage and can't think, beasts can't!' Leon shook his head, slightly disappointed by the attitude of the soldiers.
Leon did not have the slightest bit of knowledge about the wolfmen; he wasn't a native of Hafari after all and might have run away if he knew about them.
By now, the wolfmen and Kalahari soldiers were only a few kilometres away from Leon and the others; they could basically see each other's faces now.
At this moment, the current commander of the army stepped forward.

It was the green-haired General who had come to get them from the sect back then; he was in charge in Zhu Ming's absence.
The man was dressed in his heavy golden armour that covered up to his lower jaw, and only his nose up to his hair was revealed; he had a sharp glint in his pupils as he stared at the enemies with narrowed eyes.
"Soldiers, get ready! Archers, get in position and prepare to rain arrows on those bastards. Cavalry squad, prepare to move out. All battalions enter the arrow formation and prepare to attack.
Do not look at the size of your enemy; it's either you kill them, or you die trying to, and I do not give anyone permission to die, so don't dare fall!
If you fall, your families will be imprisoned or even killed, your kids will be sold and your wives will experience hell.
So I repeat, don't you dare die!
The sects have the duty of taking out every wolfman on the battlefield; soldiers are not to engage with them. Now move!"
The green-haired General shouted in a loud voice that spread in all directions.
Every soldier heard his voice. His words were like a wake-up call as they all snapped out of their fearful states; the thoughts of what the enemies might do to their families if they died were enough to send blood pumping through their bodies at a crazy speed.
Immediately after receiving the orders, the soldiers started to move into formations.
Cavalry teams that had thousands of soldiers charged to the front with horses while thousands of archers entered shooting stances behind them, next were foot soldiers that had entered military fighting formations.
Everyone was set and ready for battle.
On the side of the sects, they were issuing orders to their disciples after hearing the words of the General.
On the side of the Falcon sect.
Bai Quing turned to face the members of her sect.
"Everyone above the 4th level is to target the wolf men only. Considering their heights, they should not be stronger than level 3 martial artists so make sure to kill them as fast as possible. The others are to assist in killing enemy soldiers." Bai Quing ordered.
"Understood, sect mistress!" The disciples and elders replied in unison.
Fengxu glanced at Bai Quing with a complicated look on her face but didn't say anything.
The disciples might not know, but she and the elders knew that Bai Quing wasn't telling everything, and that was to prevent the disciples from falling into despair.
The truth was that there were wolfmen who were as strong as level 5 martial artists on the enemy's side!
Fengxu turned to look at Leon.
"Will you be alright?" She asked. Just like Quin Xuxu, she thought that Leon was familiar with wolfmen.
Before Leon could answer, Quin Xuxu's voice came from the side.
"Don't worry, he'll be fine."
What do you think?
