Chapter 135 - 135 Seven-Headed Hydra [Part 1]

The Hydra stood up on all fours and now they could see all seven of its heads.

The seven Hydra heads loomed overhead, each one covered in shining blue scales that seemed crystalline.

Its eyes were icy, piercing blue, and each head exhaled a cold mist that traveled in the air.

Sharp and pointed horns followed on its head, and its thick muscular tails snapped behind it, cracking the ground.

"This is not what I expected," the dwarf grumbled, gripping his hammer.

"Why couldn't we have a good normal dragon?"

"I don't think it makes any difference, but dragons are stronger than Hydras" The Harpy spoke.

"Yes, it might be easier for a dragon to kill a Hydra, but would it be easy for us?" Xavier replied.

"It's an ice Hydra," Sylve said.

"Each head likely breathes a different type of ice attack. The easiest way to kill it is by cutting off all seven heads, but it regenerates. So after severing a head, we need to burn the wound immediately to prevent it from regenerating," Sylve explained.

"So, it's worse than a dragon?" the Harpy asked, her wings fluttering.

"Depends on how you look at it," Xavier said. "A dragon would have been bad, but this creature won't be easy to kill."

The Hydra growled low and rumbling, ice spreading from under its huge claws. Its various heads move, each of them separately, as if studying its prey.

"We have to come up with a plan," Sylve whispered and I think my light could also burn it to avoid regeneration.

"I think the first plan is not to die; we need to be able to dodge its attacks before coming up with any sort of plan," Xavier said as he brought out his cursed sword.

Since the bloodreaver gets stronger each time it consumes blood, then Xavier just needs to continue slashing the Hydra and hope he doesn't lose control because of his new ability.

The four of them were already ready, but the Hydra kept staring at them before finally attacking.

The Hydra moved first. Its seven heads lunged in different directions, each one targeting a different member of the group.

The group immediately scattered in all directions.

Xavier leaped backward just as one of the heads snapped at him, its icy fangs clamping down on empty air.

The impact sent a shockwave through the ground, cracking the ground beneath his feet. It was fast, too fast for something of this size, but this was just the heads.

The dwarf barely rolled aside in time as another head slammed down where he had been standing.

The Harpy flung herself into the air, her wings carrying her high as a blast of freezing mist shot past her.

The ice trailed over the floor, forming jagged spikes immediately, "Watch out! Its breath attack freezes everything it touches!"

Xavier ducked as the head swung toward him, the sheer force alone was enough to damage all the bones in his body.

He lunged forward aiming to slice at one of the Hydra's necks with his sword, but the beast was already pulling back, its movements unpredictable.

The Harpy dodged wildly in the air, barely avoiding another icy breath attack.

"I'm not built for this kind of fight!" she screeched.

"None of us are!" the dwarf yelled, slamming his hammer into the frozen ground to stabilize himself after another impact.

The Hydra roared, its multiple heads moving in unison now. Two heads spewed a freezing storm of ice shards, forcing Xavier and Sylve to dive for cover as she created a wall of earth in front of them stopping the attack.

Another head reared back before launching forward like a whip, trying to catch the Harpy mid-air, but she managed to dodge at the last second, moving towards the ground.

"This thing isn't just strong—it's relentless!" Xavier gritted his teeth.

"Come towards me," Sylve shouted, and the Dwarf began running towards her while the Harpy flew towards her, and immediately all of them were together. A square hole was created in the ground, and Sylve covered it up, leaving a tiny space.

Since all of them were in one location, all seven of the Hydra's heads opened their mouth, firing freezing mist that immediately froze the area they were.

"We can't keep dodging forever!" Sylve spoke.

"If it was a dragon, we would be able to distract it and then strike, but it has seven damn heads," Xavier mouthed in anger.

"We have to find a way to distract it for someone to get a clean strike" the dwarf spoke.

"We need to turn its attention away," Sylve agreed. "If three of us move behind it, it will turn around to face us then someone will stay behind"

The dwarf nodded. "And while it's focused on us...Xavier can you go for the strike, using your air ability"

Xavier flexed his fingers around his sword. "Sure, I might be able to get it clean off. If I can cut deep enough, Sylve, you need to burn the wound immediately"

Sylve nodded. "I'll use my light magic. If it works, the head won't grow back."

"And what if it doesn't work?" The Harpy asked.

"Then we run like hell" The Dwarf grumbled.

"Sylve, I think you need to do more of this crater and scatter them around the room; it'll also be a good way for me and Xavier to get to the head," the dwarf spoke.

"That's a good plan; if it attacks, you can jump in and strike its neck from below," Sylve replied as they heard a loud roar.

They all nodded, taking deep breaths.

Sylve placed her hands on the earth and pushed the soil aside, creating an opening.

"Once we go out, I want you two to cover your eyes" Sylve spoke.

The dwarf and Harpy jumped out, and Sylve followed while Xavier remained behind, gripping his cursed sword tightly.

The moment the three emerged, the Hydra's heads snapped toward them, and the two of them closed their eyes as Sylve stretched her hands forward, and a bright, blinding light shone.

The Hydra roared in frustration, and the three of them began moving, once the Hydra eyes were opened, it spun around to face them, its massive body shifting.
