Chapter 1266 A Little Helper
Thinking about Feng Lin's family situation, Lu Jueyu also included coupons for him. This way, he could buy food from state-owned grain and supply stores at lower prices.
Looking at her notebook, she had the most grain, flour, and egg coupons. So, she took out a total of 500 kilograms' worth of grain coupons, 300 kilograms' worth of flour coupons, and 100 kilograms' worth of egg coupons.
As for other types of coupons, she took out 50 kilograms' worth of meat coupons, 10 kilograms' worth of salt coupons, 50 kilograms' worth of sugar coupons, 30 liters' worth of oil coupons, 10 rolls' worth of fabric coupons, and 50 kilograms' worth of cotton coupons.
For her and her family, these coupons were just paper, but for Feng Lin and others, they meant food and important rations. Rather than letting these coupons become useless waste in the future, it was better to give them to someone in need.
After a long period of observation, she was sure that Feng Lin was trustworthy, so she dared to give him this much. As for his grandparents, she believed they were wise people who knew what to say and what not to say.
She divided the money into two portions—one with coupons and one with just money. She would give these to the children later.
When she was done, she left the space and reappeared in the bedroom. Walking to the backyard, she saw the children had just finished eating.
"Xiao Huang, Xiao Lin, can you come with me?" she asked.
Hearing her words, the two of them quickly washed their hands and walked over.
Hugging her mother's leg, Dong Huang raised her head and asked, "Mother, do you need me to do something for you?"
"Aunt Li, what can I help you with?" Feng Lin asked.
Hearing their words, Lu Jueyu smiled and said, "Come with me, and you will find out."
Feeling curious, the two children followed her to her bedroom. This was Feng Lin's first time entering Lu Jueyu's bedroom, and he hesitated, standing outside the door, not daring to step inside.
Seeing this, Lu Jueyu waved at him and said, "Xiao Lin, come in and close the door."
After hesitating for a moment, Feng Lin finally entered the room and closed the door. Compared to his mud-walled house, this room was built with wood and looked very beautiful.
The courtyard house had been built centuries ago using Chinese cedarwood, also known as Nanmu wood. The Li family's ancestors had been the richest family in the area back then and had used the finest Nanmu wood to construct their ancestral house.
Because of this, the wood had a beautiful golden color with elegant grain patterns and a pleasant fragrance. Even after all these years, it retained its distinctive smoky, woody, pine-like aroma.
As Feng Lin took a deep breath, he felt as though he was standing in the middle of a forest, surrounded by comfort. He didn't know anything about the Li family's history—he only thought the room was incredibly beautiful.
Patting the Kang bed, Lu Jueyu said, "Come here and take a seat."
Feng Lin took off his shoes and climbed onto the Kang bed. With the window open, a gentle breeze blew into the room, making the temperature just right—not too hot or too cold.

After the children sat down, Lu Jueyu took out two envelopes from the bedside drawer, placed them on the small table on the Kang bed, and said, "This is the money from selling the ginseng you found."
Hearing this, Feng Lin and Dong Huang were both surprised.
"Mother, you sold the ginseng?" Dong Huang asked.
Lu Jueyu nodded and said, "Doctor Xie bought it for 100,000 yuan and a lot of coupons."
Feng Lin frowned when he heard this. After hesitating for a moment, he asked, "Aunt Li, can we not sell the ginseng?"
"Why? Does Xiao Lin want to use the ginseng?" Lu Jueyu asked.
Nodding, Feng Lin replied, "Aunt Li, I planned to save it for my grandparents."
"If Xiao Lin needs it, then Aunt Li will respect your decision and not sell it."
"Mother, you already accepted the money. Can we really take the ginseng back?" Dong Huang asked.
"Mother still has another ginseng and can sell that to Doctor Xie instead. The ginseng you two found will be kept for you," Lu Jueyu replied.
Feng Lin looked at the thick envelope for a long time, torn between choices. He wanted to keep the ginseng, but having money seemed more practical.
His grandparents were old, and he had long wanted to take them to the hospital for a checkup. Even if he gave them ginseng, it wouldn't completely cure their long-term illnesses. But with money, he could at least afford treatment.
Noticing his silence, Lu Jueyu asked, "Xiao Lin, are you sure you want to keep the ginseng?"
Raising his gaze, Feng Lin replied, "Aunt Li, I want to keep the ginseng, but I also want to take my grandparents to the hospital. I don't know what I should do."
Lu Jueyu smiled and said, "How about taking the money and bringing your grandparents to the hospital first? As for the ginseng, Aunt Li will give you some ginseng powder later. We live near the mountains—we might still be able to find more ginseng."
"But ginseng is very precious. It doesn't feel right to take it for free," Feng Lin said.
Hearing his reply, Lu Jueyu found the boy even more pleasing to her eyes. She knew that even children had their pride, so she didn't insist on giving it for free.
After thinking for a while, she asked, "Well, how about you help Aunt Li plant the greenhouse? In exchange for your work, Aunt Li will pay you with ginseng powder."
Before Feng Lin could refuse, Dong Huang quickly chimed in, "Ah Lin, just agree with my mother. We really need help planting the greenhouses."
Feng Lin looked at his friend for a moment before finally agreeing, "Okay."
What do you think?
