Chen Anwen also took a seat beside her mother-in-law and looked around. The hospital was much more crowded now compared to the last time she visited. Based on their clothing, she could differentiate between villagers and town dwellers.

While she was looking around, a young man beside her suddenly asked, "Sister-in-law, are you here to visit your relatives?"

Hearing this, Chen Anwen turned and replied with a smile, "My second sister-in-law is going into labor, and we came to take care of her."

When the young man heard this, he let out a sigh and said, "Sister-in-law, you are so kind."

"This is something I should do as my sister-in-law's family," Chen Anwen replied modestly.

The young man observed her clothes. Though she was wearing old clothes with patches, they were clean, and she was tidy. Her hair was styled into a bun and covered with a cloth, as was customary for married women.

Even with a boring hairstyle and old clothes, her beauty was still evident. Without using any powder or cream, her fair skin had a natural tint of blush on her cheeks. Her eyes were gentle and warm.

When he looked into her eyes, he couldn't help but envy her husband. With her soft-spoken demeanor, beautiful face, and lovely figure, what man could remain unmoved?

If he could marry such a woman, he wouldn't have to make excuses not to go home. He has a rude, ugly, and stupid wife at home, and he can't help but compare the two. 

His eyes rested on her chest, wondering if it was as soft as it looked. He licked his lips, and his eyes were filled with lust as his mind wandered to the yellow area.

Chen Anwen noticed the young man's stare, and her eyes turned cold. It was one thing to have a polite conversation while waiting, but it was another for him to blatantly stare at her like this.

Just as she hesitated about whether to remind him, she heard her mother-in-law's voice.

"Nephew, can you stop staring at my daughter-in-law with your lustful gaze? I know my daughter-in-law is young and beautiful, but it's not right for you to stare at another man's wife like that. If you continue staring like that, I will report you for hooliganism."

The moment the young man heard Mother Lu's words, he snapped back to reality. By then, people around them were already staring at him with meaningful gazes.

Feeling embarrassed, he quickly said, "Auntie, please be careful with your words. When did I stare at your daughter-in-law? I was just having a casual and polite conversation to pass the time."

Fearing that he would be reported, he quickly stood up and walked away. 

As he left, he muttered, "Acting so demure, but who knows if she deliberately seduces men? Just looking at her face and body, I can tell she is not someone with good behavior."

When everyone heard his words, they frowned and looked down on him. Most of them had seen him initiate the conversation and stare at the woman while she did nothing.

Now that he had been warned by her mother-in-law, he tried to shift the blame onto her. Just how disgusting could he be?

Sensing her daughter-in-law's bad mood, Mother Lu patted her hand and said, "When you are bitten by a wild dog, you don't bite it back."

When Chen Anwen heard this, she understood her mother-in-law's meaning. It wasn't worth getting angry over a random person. She should just treat it as if she had been bitten by a dog.

Nodding at her mother-in-law, she replied, "Mother, I understand."

Not knowing what had happened to his wife just now, Lu Han returned after asking for the ward number. Walking over, he noticed his wife's bad mood and asked, "Wife, what's wrong?"

Hearing her husband's worried tone, Chen Anwen shook her head and replied with a smile, "It's nothing. There was just a wild dog earlier."

Lu Han frowned when he heard this. This was a hospital—how could a wild dog enter?

He looked around and saw a young man staring at his wife. The moment their gazes met, Lu Han's eyes turned cold. Without even asking what had happened, he was sure that this man had offended his wife just from his lustfull eyes.

The same thing often happened in their village, which was why his wife rarely went out. He hadn't expected that even in a public place such as a hospital, she would still encounter this kind of person.

Chen Anwen noticed her husband's gaze and quickly grabbed his sleeve before he could take a step. She shook her head and said, "Husband, I'm fine. This is a public place—we shouldn't disturb public security."

Lu Han looked at his wife and asked, "Did he do anything to you?"

"No, Mother is with me," Chen Anwen replied.

Mother Lu looked at her son for a moment and asked, "Ah Han, have you asked for the ward number?"

Lu Han nodded and replied, "Mother, my second sister-in-law is in ward number 117."

"Good, we should go now, or the fish soup your sister made will turn cold," Mother Lu said as she stood up.

Since his mother had already spoken, Lu Han could only glare at the young man and gnash his teeth before carrying the bamboo basket on his back and holding the bags in his hands.

Chen Anwen carried a bamboo basket on her back and walked beside her husband. As they walked, she held onto his sleeve and kept glancing at him.

When Lu Han saw this, he let out a long sigh and said, "Wife, I won't go and beat him. You don't have to worry about me."

"Alright," Chen Anwen nodded with a smile.

Although her husband treated her politely and didn't show his feelings as often as Lu Cheng, she knew that he truly loved and treasured her. She didn't need him to proclaim his feelings constantly. From the way he treated her and their children, she knew her husband's heart.

When they arrived at the ward, Mother Lu knocked on the door before entering, followed by Lu Han and Chen Anwen.

Seeing that several families were there besides their own, Mother Lu nodded at them with a smile as a greeting. As she walked in, she saw her second son and second daughter-in-law sitting on the corner bed near the window.

"Second daughter-in-law, how are you feeling? Has the doctor come over to check on you?" she asked.

Hearing his mother's words, Lu Cheng raised his head and said, "Mother, Brother, Sister-in-law, you are here."

At this moment, Wang Muxiao was enduring contractions and couldn't greet them. 

Seeing her condition, Chen Anwen placed the bamboo basket down and wiped the sweat from her sister-in-law's forehead with the towel on the bedside table. 

Seeing the sticky sweat on her sister-in-law's body, she went out with a washbasin to get some hot water to wipe her sister-in-law's body.
