Chapter 91: 91 The Tsundere Egghead Hero Refuses to Speak Properly [50 PS]
— Puento Antiguo, New Mexico
New Mexico is known for its vast, unending deserts, dotted with oases and cacti.
In this land that remains largely untouched by human industry, small towns are scattered here and there.
Puento Antiguo is one such town.
It has a modest population, a few buildings, and basic amenities.
Like many other desert towns, Puento Antiguo serves as a rest stop for travelers passing through.
And, as predicted by Kagura, this place was precisely chosen by Natasha Romanoff as the destination for their journey.
The black SUV slowly came to a stop in the town.
The red-haired beauty had been waiting there for quite some time.
"Tony Stark."
Natasha Romanoff, dressed in a simple black jacket and tight leather pants, her outfit sharp and understated, revealing her enticing figure, greeted them.
Her smile, though warm, hid an air of impatience. It was clear she wasn't thrilled by the delay.
"You're a whole 14 hours late. Care to explain why?"
Kagura noticed that behind Natasha's smile, there was a trace of annoyance, as though she was silently cursing some "egghead hero."
'This mission feels like a movie script. Couldn't we just be more direct?'
"Clearly, it's because you over-planned the schedule, Agent Natasha Romanoff."
Tony Stark stepped out of the car, taking off his sunglasses as he approached Natasha.
"If we were rushing the whole time, would you still call it a trip? We took our time on the road, rested for the night, enjoyed some delicious food, made a few friends, and soaked in the views. Oh, and too bad you didn't join us."
"I guess you're right, it's a shame."
Natasha smiled slightly, her voice casual. "Though I'd love to argue with you, this is your family's trip, so I'll leave it at that."
"So, back to the point. You brought us to this town, which I've never heard of, and you've got something exciting planned for us, right?" Tony asked, curious.
"Or is there a local specialty we should look out for?"
"Sadly, it's just an ordinary town."
Natasha shrugged, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"But look around, New Mexico is a desert oasis in its own right. I just picked a well-equipped town and planned a little vacation for you."
"Oh, how wonderful..."
Kagura hopped out of the car, pulling her overstuffed suitcase behind her.
She sighed dramatically, intrigued by how Natasha would continue to weave her tale.
'Clearly, she's still lying about something.'
It was obvious to Kagura that Natasha had more up her sleeve than just a vacation.
But some people were too stubborn to admit their true intentions.
"Well, no surprises, but it still sounds nice."
Tony replied, raising an eyebrow.
"But I can't shake the feeling that you're hiding something from me."
"Hiding something? No, no."
Natasha quickly shook her head, feigning innocence. "Trust me, this is just a normal vacation."
"Actually, I feel the same way, Natasha."
Kagura seized the opportunity, leaning in to nudge Natasha playfully, her voice dripping with curiosity.
"Is there something special going on in this town? A local event or something?"
She could practically see Natasha reaching her limit with the lies.
"Oh, well…"
Natasha, with a smile, looked at Kagura and nodded slightly in thanks.
Though she didn't find much purpose in bringing Tony and Kagura here under the guise of a vacation, it was easier to have them "accidentally" help investigate the extraterrestrial objects.
She could just tell them what was going on directly, but Nick Fury had his reasons.
"Alright, actually..."
Suppressing her frustration, Natasha began, "There is, indeed, a special event happening."
"Oh? Did we win some kind of prize?"
Tony responded, clearly intrigued. "Are you talking about a band or some other big event?"
"We'll discuss the details later."
With a look of relief, Natasha pulled out the itinerary. "First, we've booked the best hotel here, and in 30 minutes, we'll be enjoying a New Mexico-style feast."
"Wow! A feast!"
Kagura's eyes sparkled, her excitement palpable.
'Food! Food is a huge part of any trip!'
"Don't rush, Hitomi." Natasha smiled, patting Kagura's silver hair.
"Let's get your luggage settled at the hotel first, and as for that 'special event,' I'll tell you all about it at dinner."
"Got it, let's do that."
Tony nodded in agreement.

The group sat around a table, enjoying New Mexico's unique grilled chicken, accompanied by savory pies and potato cakes.
"Here's the deal." Natasha began, her tone serious.
"It just so happens that someone found something falling from the sky, about 80 kilometers west of here. It seems to be some kind of metallic object."
"Falling from the sky?"
Tony's interest was piqued. "Are you talking about a meteorite?"
"I haven't seen it myself, so I can't say for sure."
Natasha continued, "But according to the townspeople, it's incredibly heavy. No one's been able to move it."
'Don't let Tony realize that we're actually asking for his help, Natasha. Act casual!'
"Incredibly... heavy?"
Tony asked, his brow furrowed. "How big are we talking about? If it's a giant meteor…"
"No, not that big."
Natasha shook her head. "Apparently, it's about the size of a hammer."
"A hammer?"
Tony was confused.
"How about we go take a look?"
Natasha suggested, her tone more than a little suggestive. "It's part of the trip, right? There are a lot of people gathering there, even hosting a barbecue nearby."
"Sounds good. Hitomi, what do you think?"
Tony turned to Kagura, who was busy stuffing her face.
"Mmm… Mmm?"
Kagura, with a chicken leg in one hand and half a pie in the other, had her cheeks puffed out with food. "Mmm?"
Seems like the mysterious extraterrestrial objects were less interesting than the local cuisine.
"Hitomi!" Pepper tapped Kagura gently on the head. "Swallow your food before you talk."
"Mmm!"
Kagura nodded eagerly, chewing her food with determination.
"So…"
Tony rubbed his temples. "Natasha said there's a strange meteorite nearby. Want to go check it out?"
"Mmm! Sounds fun!"
Kagura finally swallowed and took a big gulp of her drink. "Interesting! Let's go see it!"
"Alright, after dinner, we'll head out."
Natasha breathed a sigh of relief.
